Visited Kitima while visiting family and had such a fantastic evening. The building is beautiful, and is like a tardis, it just keeps going on and on and on. The cocktails were imaginative and so visually stunning, but it is the food which really wows. As a group we tried a bit of everything and not one dish failed, the... More

This is our second trip to Kitima and it didn't disappoint. From the cocktails at the bar to the extensive wine list which covers every palate. Then onto the menu where we tried the Crispy Duck and Lamb curry - both excellent. Well done Kitima, see you next time.....

I love bringing the family to Kitima as they always make you feel most welcome. On our recent visit for my daughters birthday they pulled out all the stops to make the evening special. Kitima is just that kind of place to go and get lost in an old school world of ambience and service. The food is always top... More

We have been Kitima regulars for a long long time, ever since they opened a decade ago. It has been our favourite Cape Town restaurant. Kitima was this Asian food gem, with a Colonial feel, great service, in a gorgeous setting. For the last few visits we have noticed a definite downwards trend in just about everything. Last week we... More

You think you remember this title? You are right. it was the heading of my April review. To cut the story short. We, Peter Boshuijzen and I, have been regular guests of this wonderful place. Whenever we were in Hout Bay we came and visit. With friends, by ourselves, to enjoy diner, the Sunday lunch or just cocktails. We were... More

We had a very disappointing experience at Kitima a couple of months ago, during which we heard there was some turnover in kitchen staffing. After letting the managers know directly, they graciously apologized and encouraged us to return. We went last night and WOW, it was like eating at a very different restaurant compared to months ago. Every dish was... More

Having heard lots of good things about Kitima it was great to be finally experiencing it myself but so many different aspects of the meal were so poor that I would easily say this was the worst meal I've had in Cape Town since moving here from London over a year ago. First off they'd had issues with the cooking... More

We had dinner in this asian inspired restaurant and it was absolutely fantastic. From the cocktails to the food to the wine and service, we had the most enjoyable evening - the best restaurant so far in South Africa!!!

South Africa has a tendency to overcharge for what you can easily get on the streets of South East Asia for a fraction of the price and although Kitima by no means a budget dining experience it more than makes up for it by offering gorgeous decor and ambiance, amazing service (thanks Melville the waiter) and perfectly done Asian cuisine.... Dinner to celebrate a birthday. Extravagant cocktails to start with followed by a good meal selection to satify most pallets. Pricey but worth the money spent for a good evening celebration

Thank Darryl G

Between 1835 and 1849 the Kronendal Farm was owned by Sir William Josias Cloete. Legend has it that the homestead is haunted by his daughter Elsa Cloete who died of a broken heart after being forbidden to marry her soldier lover. Kitima still sets and serves a table for Elsa with samples from the menu to appease Elsa's spirit. Welcome to Kitima restaurant where oriental elegance and hospitality meet the unpretentious grace and charm of Africa. Our authentic Thai and Asian Fusion cuisine, prepared by our Thai chefs will carry you to a world of exotic spices, perfumes and all that's precious and exotic. Various dining option are available from our private lover's room seating 2-6 persons, our VIP room seating up to 12 persons, our Temple and Bangkok rooms as well as the Raya lounge for cocktails, drinks, snacks or even dinner to share. Kitima exudes all the splendour of a traditional Cape Dutch homestead with yellowwood ceilings, wooden floors combined with modern Asian artefacts and cuisine. Our cocktail list is extensive and features a number of award winners that are both stunning in taste and appeal. The restaurant has the addition of the garden and the Raya Terrace which are unique covered areas that are available, however these are weather permitting. We invite you to have a taste of true Thai cuisine in a traditional and modernised South African homestead.
