My only regret was that I had eaten lunch earlier that day. We went there for dinner and I ordered fish. My husband had a wine pairing menu. Even though I had eaten a hearty lunch I soon found my tastebuds awoken by the delightful sights and smells of the food in this restaurant. I believe the head chef has... More

This is a fine dining restaurant where I felt the emphasis was on presentation rather than taste. We found the meat dishes were good but fish dishes were over cooked and tasteless. Go for the meat to be safe.

The quality of the food was mixed. Nothing was poor, but from such a highly rated restaurant, I would have expected everything to be very good. The meals were well presented. Some of the dishes were very good, in particular the springbok, but other was a little bland and unnecessarily complicated, without adding to quality, such as crayfish with veal.... More

Yet another visit to Le Bon Vivant but for lunch this time. The quality of the dishes is still terrific - the springbok was sublime - but you do have to wait for it. The service was quicker than a weekend evening but still on the slow side. But no problem - very good food is worth waiting for.

Several friends had recommended BON VIVANT and getting a reservation was difficult. However we managed to get a table hoping for a dinner in the courtyard but sadly a very strong wind got up and all the tables were moved inside. A bit lacking in ambience but we enjoyed watching the kitchen brigade at work. The food was tasty but... More

Even though I had booked the table two months in advance, when we got there we were unable to sit on the veranda. We were seated inside instead - by the big window that allows you to watch the chefs in action. This was interesting for a while, but not a great view for an entire meal. We were one... More

All four of us enjoyed our experience. We shared two delicious platters of hot and cold tapas to start. Main courses were prettily presented and very tasty. Wine came at a sensible mark-up. Coffee came with home-made petit fours. The waiter was attentive and friendly. What's not to like? Highly recommended.

Excellent place for lunch - first class food and very good staff. Sit outside, peaceful and quiet under large old trees but only a block away from the hustle and bustle of the main street.

We had the surprise menu with accompanying flight of wines. Each dish was a treat for the eye as well as the palate with innovative food creations and imaginative presentation. The attentive service and perfectly matched wines were the icing on the cake. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
