Friendly and accommodating staff, but my seafood dish didn't taste anything like seafood. The friendly staff did take it off the bill though. The waiting time was also a bit slow.

So as locals in franschoek we wanted to go somewhere different from the main road. We decided to go to lust bakery . We have done the wine tasting on numerous occasions at this lovely estate with enviable views . I was drawn to the...seafood bisque as franschoek is not renowned for its seafood and I love seafood. I asked the waitress what seafood was in the bisque and she promptly came back and said Mussels, crab prawns and fish. Yum. The menu stated it was a coconut tomato bisque . However upon receiving it I was very disappointed. Imitation crab . No prawns And the seafood mix had obviously been defrosted in the microwave as it was tough no depth of flavour. Very disappointing. No coconut flavours.More

We booked lunch at the Bistro & Bakery whilst on the Wine Tram and enjoyed it. The service was very good - a warm greeting on arrival and we were well looked after by Maritza. For our lunch we ordered the Chicken curry and Kingklip...with mash - both dishes were very good. The bill came to 515 rand including the tip as well as a couple of soft drinks (there is only so much wine you can drink in a day !). A lovely lunch and we would be very happy to return.More

We stopped for a quick lunch in the middle of our wine tour to refuel. The restaurant is very laid back with a wide variety of casual dishes. They also have a bakery that looked delicious but sadly we did not try. Many of the...vineyard restaurants seemed to focus on fine dining so this was a great option.More

Average to poor if you a local. Decide to go there based on the rating. Maybe if you a foreigner it would appeal Bulut being a local the quality and good is not good. Kingklip fish very small, burger bun dry and patty average. Pork...neck ..OMG rather don’t serve this.. Way overated!!More

Stick to having breakfast there, we've even hosted a small party there, and it was very pleasant, but don't, pop in there on a Sunday morning wanting to buy a nice loaf of bread, or croissants. The bakery is quite disappointing, and even if you...did want the last loaf (which I did), you start feeling uncomfortable, ... like you're in the way of the staff, they just look at you and walk on by. Nonetheless, we left without purchasing the bread ... and it didn't seem to bother anyone ..More

Excellent choice and very good food. This was a return visit for lunch and on our last day in Franschhoek we enjoyed brunch. Extremely good service, too. Thank you!

Stopped here for lunch before doing the wine tasting, what a disappointment. So many things ‘sold out’ on the regular menu and the specials board. Our waiter- despite being pleasant and friendly was so inexperienced and it showed. Some of our order was wrong, some...undercooked, some missing… it was just one thing after another, our server just did not seem to know how to handle all these mistakes. We paid and left as quickly as possible, and went to the wine tasting opposite, (which was fantastic). Skip lunch here and order a platter with the wine, they looked incredible and had a view to match.More

We had read fairly good reviews and visited. We were seated outside and service was slow. The waiters all seemed to be concentrated on guests sitting inside. We ordered two tapas. The kudu fillet was overcooked and bland. The tiger prawns wrapped in prosciutto were...fairly good, but I rated it poorly because of the lack of service. We chose "white mischief" as our wine. It could have been colder. Unfortunately we walked through to the wine tasting area. What a difference. Fantastic view of the Franshoek/Drakenstein mountains over vineyards and a very attentitive and informative "Em" explaining the wines to us. I wish we had walked straight past the Bistro to the tasting room.More

We stopped here for what we hoped would be a delish lunch on the way back from Cape Town. Service was shocking, we waited 15 mins for our drinks, asked for water 3 times. When my husband eventually got his coffee, he had to ask...for sugar, we asked for sugar, she said she’d bring it, before the coffee got any colder, I got up and got the sugar myself. The Burgers were very average for the price paid, my husbands was completely raw.More

We were on the wine tram and stopping there for lunch without any rush. But we felt rushed and could not really enjoy the view from the terrace. One of us wanted to do a wine tasting which was reportedly nice. But I felt uncomfortable...because I had to decline a couple of times joining in. I had been looking forward to the Ploughman's platter but it was rather average.More
