We are trying out all the platters in this area and ordered the (Ploughman) cheese and charcuterie for 2 @ R250. Nice venue and quite busy with the wine tram arriving from Franschhoek every so often. Good quality food with the locally baked bread and relishes but you leave with the impression that it is a tad overpriced for what is on the plate.

We actually had a reservation at another estate but when we arrived we did not like the fancy menu and quickly called Vreda and Lust who accommodated us.
The atmosphere is fairly understated but nice and modern.
I chose the Curry and my partner had the Beef noodle dish, we also shared a Pizza.
WHAT A MEAL. Great quality food and tasty, not fancy but excellent!!
I will go back any day of the week. loved it.. the Rose wine was also excellent

Had a wonderful lunch under the trees at Lust Bistro and bakery. Was a rainy afternoon and we decided to take a chance and sit outside. Our waiter Simon was amazing and even though we were the only people sitting outside he did not complain to walk all the way from the main building to serve us. Best pizza's in Stellenbosch and great service would recommend it to anyone.

We come to Cape Town annually, I’ve wanted to give the Lust restaurant a try for years, today we came for a breakfast and had the pulled pork omelet. Unfortunately it lacked flavor, the bread almost broke my teeth and the butter had a bad taste on it. It was fresh and filling, but won’t rush back, as it’s also not the cheapest menu around

Lust Bistro has opened for business again with the most tasteful bread and cuisine that they are allowed to serve. Service is excellent and the waiters are typically Western Cape which adds to the experience. I will highly recommend visiting Lust Bistro when visiting the Franshoek region.

We had the most wonderful time at Lust Bistro. The restaurant goes out of their way to adhere to covid regulations, more so than what I have experienced at any other restaurant during level 1 lockdown. The food was absolutely delicious, and everyone enjoyed their breakfast choices. The service was great and our waiter was friendly and welcoming. We sat outside and they do take bookings. After breakfast we drove to Babylonstoren to explore the gardens and to browse all there is to see. Lust Bistro is the perfect spot for a group to have breakfast on the way to Babylonstoren, thereby avoiding the queues at the Babylonstoren eateries. Would highly recommend them.

We had brunch here on Saturday morning. The spot seems to be very popular with cyclists, so the service was a bit slow with lots of people coming and going. I enjoyed the omelette with pulled pork filling, while my friend settled for the blueberry crumpets, which she enjoyed thoroughly. Any restaurant in this area has great views, and this one is no exception. There is ample outside seating, ideal for these beautiful sunny days in late autumn.

We had an incredible experience at the Lust Bistro & Bakery. Our family went there to celebrate a 18th birthday - with one of the bistro's perfect pizza's. When we asked for the bill, our lovely waiter (Maritza) brought a chocolate brownie to the table - with a candle and "happy birthday" written with chocolate on the plate. We could not have asked for better and friendlier service. We will definitely visit Vrede & Lust again in the near future. Thank you for an impeccable experience!

We just love going to Lust Bistro, why? JP, Justine and team make you feel so welcome! The food is fresh, beautifully prepared and served with the best cuppachinos around! The daily fresh baked breads are a must to take home after your visit. I recommend Lust, whether you want to savour a coffee, with breakfast or lunch, they haven’ t disappointed on our weekly visits. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and looked for a great lunch time venue. This establishment came out tops in our search. The visit had a bad start with a poor table being reserved but this was rectified when a decent table became available. The food looked absolutely great as it was well plated and presented. The steak was slightly overcooked for medium but well seasoned. The pork belly was ok. The highlight of this visit was the anniversary decorated dessert plate, this was done to perfection and the coffee was also excellent. Pamela the manager was a great host and we enjoyed our conversation with her. Truth be said our great expectations were not met although great effort was made.

We have been to this place many times,they even prepared food for us on Christmas Eve,nothing is too much,juices,breads,salads,burgers,steaks,there is nothing on the menu that isn't Absolutely Stunning Superior Excellent.

We were tricked into ordering Cheese Platters for a Wedding Function from Lust Bistro and Bakery. Received the attached platters, and got charged afterwards R900 per one of these platters. Upon complaining we were only met with arrogant justifications for these and other deceitful charges.
Stay clear of this place or check your invoices if you have to deal with JP’s dishonesty.

Posting multiple reviews across various platforms (after extensive emails between us) is certainly aimed at causing harm to the business because you did not reach the outcome you had wanted.
As per my email as well as response on Google Reviews - you ordered large cheese and charcuterie platters. Each platter was for 10-12 people - meaning the cost per head was between R75 and R95. You were well aware of the charges. I am sorry we could not allow your wedding celebrations continue past the curfew as implemented by government. It was as frustrating for us. It seems your anger is misplaced. Nonetheless - we wish you and Alicia nothing but the best.

We had read fairly good reviews and visited. We were seated outside and service was slow. The waiters all seemed to be concentrated on guests sitting inside. We ordered two tapas. The kudu fillet was overcooked and bland. The tiger prawns wrapped in prosciutto were fairly good, but I rated it poorly because of the lack of service.
We chose "white mischief" as our wine. It could have been colder.
Unfortunately we walked through to the wine tasting area. What a difference. Fantastic view of the Franshoek/Drakenstein mountains over vineyards and a very attentitive and informative "Em" explaining the wines to us. I wish we had walked straight past the Bistro to the tasting room.

This is one of the jewels of Franschoek/Simondium. The bistro's staff are exceptional, are very professional, well-trained and always give a personal service.
Waiters that always go the extra mile is Jené, Maritsa, Jenny, Emma and the barista Lydia that makes the best coffee! My favorite isTerbedore!
Please go for the best breakfast, brunch or lunch and the fastest service!

We shared a family lunch for mother's day, and what a treat it was. From starters to mains enjoying good wine and a proper relaxed atmosphere we couldn't ask for anything better. The kids had a blast as there is a jungle gym for them to enjoy and also options for them on the menu. Jp and his team definitely has something special to offer, bending over backwards to accommodate any request you can imagine.
A must visit when in the area.
