Beautiful setting and the burgers we had were excellent (one chicken one beef). Shame the fries aren’t home made but as frozen fries go they were very tasty! We ordered something to share as appetizer which never arrived but what we did have was very...delicious!More

We visited Mont Rochelle’s Country Kitchen as part of a large family group touring the Franshhoek wine region; this vineyard was chosen for wine tasting with lunch. The view towards the mountains was absolutely spectacular but the food was incredibly disappointing. Several of our group...had steak which ranged from mediocre to inedible; my wife’s steak was so tough she simply could not cut it and nor could our much younger and stronger nephew; we sent it back requesting medium rare and a replacement steak duly arrived even thicker and tougher than the original, overcooked and again inedible. Others in our group had chicken which arrived very dry. We had paid in advance so could not really do much about things except leave reflecting on a very disappointing and unsatisfactory experience. In a region blessed with wonderful eating options one would expect venues to be at the top of their game.More

We tried to book the Richard Branson restaurant at his Mont Michelle vineyard but it was full. We heard that they do wine tasting so on a very hot afternoon we decided to walk there and do some wine tasting. We got lost but after...an hour ended up at an entrance with a barrier. Rather tired, I am 77. A young gentleman told us there was no wine tasting today , we confused him saying Miko, our fault. Then a rather nice BMW van with several seats in came past. The driver asked if he could help. A phone call later and he dropped us off at the winery and just said when you are ready to leave ask the staff and we will transport you back to your hotel. Wonderful. We then did wine tasting with Lwazi who was amazing. Followed this with a lovely plate of all sorts cheese etc for the 2 of us. Real 5* service thank you.More

We prebooked one of their picnic baskets for a recent visit - I had added in a few allergy requests and these were all accommodated. The picnic was plentiful for 2 people - we were full afterwards. Lots of choices and options. The setting was...lovely - we had the picnic at the lake which was beautiful. The staff were all really helpful.More

Decent service, super food, very good process. Lovely views from the terrace. Short ride out of the village. Tuk-tuk ride or 15 min walk back. This is owned by Sir Richard Branson. We preferred it to the fine dining main restaurant.

We popped in here for lunch and a wine tasting. The venue is fabulous - views are great, wonderful terrace and the inside is nice (which we opted for as the weather was temperament!). The food was average. Big portions. We had pasta and it...was fine but we wouldn’t rush back. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Overall, an average restaurant so I’ve rated it as such.More

We booked here after hearing a lot of good reviews and decided it was a “must-do”, being Richard Branson’s wine estate. Arrived on time and shown to our table which was on the terrace to the rear with stunning views of the mountains. The menu...choice is a little bit limited so we opted for the burgers (a burger is a burger in my view) served with fries - it was OK, nothing to write home about. The one highlight was the Mont Rochelle Sauvignon Blanc which by South African standards (even by UK standards) was expensive especially in a wine estate @ £14, but it is probably one of the nicest Sauvignon Blancs we have tasted in a long time - superb! The service was very low key (nothing wrong with that) - perhaps 3 stars is a bit harsh but it just didn’t blow us away (there are nicer wine estate restaurants nearby)More

We stopped at the Country Kitchen as part of our blue route Wine Tram experience. We had booked so we lucky enough to get a table on the front terrace with breathtaking views of the mountains. There was also seating inside, where it was lovely...and cool and around the back and sides of the building also. We had a lovely lady serving us and advising on the wines (the Mico Chardonnay 2017 was delish). Between the 3 of us, we had the Calamari in lemon mayonnaise (the best ever!), Kingkip with spinach/tomatoes/cous cous (tasty) and an indulgent milk shake (with cream, strawberry sauce and marshmallows). Plus refreshing raspberry wine spritzer. We all agreed the location, the service, the food and the experience was just perfect, 10 out of 10.More

So today hubby and I decided to go to mont rochelle as it was a beautiful day and we love the view there. It was 11 .15 and we ordered coffee and asked for the menu for later. This is a beautiful restaurant with nice outdoor seating and friendly, competent staff. The veggie burger on a gluten free bun was really nice, as was the pea pesto pasta. We did have a glass of wine, but not from Mont Rochelle, so I can't...speak to the quality of the estate's wines.More

We were invited to join my daughter and her family with her in-laws visiting from Australia to lunch at the Country Kitchen which was ideal for a meal with a 19mth toddler in tow . We sat on the balcony in the shade of some...trees.The staff we very welcoming but when we asked for a high chair they said they would look and then the presented us with a normal chair which was really of no use .Fortunately our grandson is easily entertained and was able to wander around where we sat . The food was very nicely presented and extremely tasty with nice sized portions . Dessert had some interesting flavours -like burnt honey ice cream and earl grey ice cream - which were both enjoyed by their recipients . There is a lovely lawn with several games which adults and older children can play . A very relaxed atmosphere helped make a lovely afternoon despite being very hot ! There was an issue with the card machine at the end of the meal and the waiter said that they had been having trouble with it - this problem was ultimately resolved. This didn’t spoil a good afternoon’s outing !More

Fantastic setting, stunning scenery and grounds, friendly and attentive staff. Simple but stylish restaurant, good atmosphere and tasty, well-presented food. 4 diners- starters of teriyaki/chilli/spring onion/coriander ostrich carpaccio, calamari with black sesame and lemon Mayo, pecorino soufflé with pear and caramelised walnut green salad. Mains...of: pea pesto pasta with feta pine nuts and crostini, chorizo Parmesan pasta, buttermilk fried chicken with crushed potato, herb gravy and corn/green bean salsa, and 4th diner chose tapas of baby marrow and chick pea taquitos with jalapeño Mayo, chipotle chicken wings, harissa cauliflower, and bbq ribs with salted chilli Mayo. All meals enjoyed by all! 3 enjoyed good value wine tasting, and as designated driver the raspberry purée mocktail I had, and malva/coffee milkshake (more like a calorific dessert) were lovely. We ate indoors (temp of 36 deg that day!) but the outdoor terrace is beautiful overlooking the estate and surrounding mountains. Lawn games of pétanque, chess and giant connect 4 too. Would definitely return!More
