What a date!! We were amounst the first visitors to the newly oprned restaurant just outside Franschoek.
What a privilege...... Food is some of the best i have had in Cape Town.
The new interior and fittings fit right into that upmarket counry vide with hints of sophistication.
The food was out of this world with a dish for every diner...... Full of colour and quirks of taste that catch you by supprise.
The chef - kyle Norris came out and chatted to us and his recommendations were spot on and a free little wine pairing finished this amazing meal off.
The after dinner treat was a great way to finish off a great romantic dinner.

I was here for my 70th birthday and the staff couldn't do enough to make my evening special. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne and they presented me with a platter of cakes with 'happy birthday' written in icing. I had a fish dish and we ordered a bottle of red wine- the waiter wanted me to try a very nice white and this was also complimentary. I could not fault the whole experience.

We had to wait a very long time for the first drink, when greeting from the kitchen there was still no cutlery available. The bitter bale was cold. The starter was a liver parfait that was sour. In my opinion, it's already a bit tainted. I let the appetizer go back as compensation for that a glass of wine.
My husband's starter was a marinated trout on potato salad. The mouthfeel of the trout was sawdust-like. The potato salad tasted old. The potato cubes were also much too big for them to have even taken on a taste of the salad sauce, The main course was very nicely arranged,. Unfortunately, salt was missing everywhere. The dessert was fine in taste, but very poor in consistency and mouthfeel. You could really feel the gelatin out and the ice crystals outweighed the ice.
After paying, we were approached by other guests who paid us respect because they did not dare to address the same shortcomings.

Dined at Sauvage as we were staying at the hotel. We arrived and there were two other tables dining in a fairly large restaurant so there was no ambiance or atmosphere, it was like eating in a morgue at times. The waiters and team were friendly enough but lacked experience, I’m always concerned when a waiter takes an order without a pen and pad because 9 times out of 10 it goes wrong…..and it did! I had to chase up on my drink numerous times which then arrived halfway through my main course. I had ordered a salmon starter but to my surprise a block of Camembert arrived so that was sent straight back. For main I had the duck which was nicely cooked, 10/10 for presentation but it was just bland and uninspiring! I’m not sure if the salt and pepper had gone into hiding that evening. We had two better meals in Franschoek so sadly Sauvage was the bottom of the pile, a shame.

We were impressed by the capabilities of the kitchen when their electric went off for a couple of minutes (during load shedding) and they continued to work under torchlight!!
The menu choices were varied and the meal was excellent apart from the main course duck had far too much meat on it.
The service was attentive and caring during the meal.
We drank some excellent South African Chardonnay at a quarter of the price of a similar French Chablis we might drink at home. Would recommend

Whilst staying at the La Franshhoek Hotel we ate at their newly opened restaurant and after a few days of eating our way through the lovely Franschhoek valley we ended our trip with a bang.
First off, the food. Wow. Reminded us of france in many ways with such clever flair and plated beautifully. Stand out dishes where a wonderful trout starter and a really good lamb belly.
The restaurant itself offers a beautiful touch of pld world charm with a pop of modernity
Best of all? We met the chef, kyle, behind our meal and what a lovely man his contagious passion really sings through in his food.
What a night, well done to the team.

The service at Sauvage is excellent! Our waiter Michelle was polite and attentive, going above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience for us.
I would like to thank Chef Kyle for stopping by our table and speaking with such pride to his wonderful dishes and a little bit of sneak insight to new renovations to come.

We had the most magical evening at Sauvage recently. The decor, the ambience, the food, the drinks, the service - all of it was such a treat. The food is art on a plate, and a really amazing journey for the palate! The location is perfect - we loved that it was outside the village - it felt like we had discovered a proper hidden gem.
Couldn't recommend a meal here more!

We recently spent 2 nights for our anniversary at the hotel and enjoyed 2 dinners at Sauvage. On the first night, I informed Whilly and Marlon that we would be back the 2nd night as it's our anniversary. They welcomed us with complimentary bubbly and even did a free pairing of wine with our starters. The ambience is great but I think the staff made the experience even better. Thanks to everyone at the restaurant and hotel for the magical experience!

We had a fabulous meal and superb service from Michelle when we dined here earlier this month. She ensured we were well looked after without being too intrusive- it can be a fine line. Nothing was too much trouble and she made our evening one to remember. I feel I must mention Holly too as her communications were excellent and she went out of her way to make us welcome.
