Interesting dishes and good service

I went out for my birthday lunch to try a new restaurant. The views were great and when we arrived the chef came out to greeted us personally, was very kind, and offered us an explanation of all the dishes. During the meal, the tartar and the 24 hr cooked Guinea Fowl were great and we were pleased with their creative approach to the dishes. We did the full wine tasting and were offered an extra glass or two on the house. Thank you so much!

Lovely restaurant, didn’t quite meet our expectations in some areas.

No menu available on website, so we didn't know till we arrived on Saturday evening that only the four-course Tasting Menu was available. It was a nice choice of food. The peanut butter and pumpkin soup starter was delicious, as was my husband’s springbok tartare. My crispy squid was pretty average. King prawns main course was superb. Unfortunately there was a problem with the other main course. The chef was hugely apologetic and didn’t charge for this. Desserts very nice. Chardonnay by the glass was very small measure (approx 125ml, smallest we served anywhere in South Africa) for ZAR100. Would be better to buy the bottle at ZAR 230. Beautiful views of the sunset.

Fantastic meal will return

Fantastic meal with exceptional service. We opted for the surprise menu which was fantastic. Would definitely recommend. The chef, Munashe, and his team were very accommodating and made the whole meal a pleasure. Can’t wait to visit again when we are back in Franschhoek!

Excellent, personal service and outstanding food

We were on our first day out in Franschhoek and, following a recommendation from our hotel we went for lunch at Hari Kitchen. We were greeted warmly by the Chef, Sommelier and owner Munashe ‘’Nash ‘’ Kwaramba. Nash helped us decide on our food order, happily adjusted a dish to accommodate my fussy dietary requirements, recommended a wine that was superb, and the perfect pairing for our food choices and made sure we had a perfect afternoon. We were presented with an amuse-bouche of a delicious peanut and pumpkin soup made to Nash’s grandmother’s recipe We both started with the smoked chicken tacos which were full to the brim and absolutely delicious. My wife then moved on to the mushroom arancini and I had the cray-fish on a bed of quinoa in a seafood bisque. The crayfish were meaty and sweet and the whole dish was flavoursome and delicious. Unfortunately we both were too full for desert, so we took a taxi back to the hotel. Thanks Nash - we will definitely come back next time we are in Franschhoek.

Hari Kitchen is one off the most friendliest restaurants to visit in the Franschhoek Valley. The Chef Munasha is friendly, and listen to you like you are one of his family members. The food that is served are from a high standard and quality and its like you just want more.

Amazing Dinner experience

We had the most amazing dinner in Hari’s kitchen. It was the best meal experience we’ve ever had and that is down to chef Nash- what an amazing guy that made us feel so welcome and made the dinner feel so personal. We watched the sunset while tasting all Nash’s delicious & creative 6 courses - I am still dreaming of that panna cotta! Everything was superb from the service to the food & wine pairing to the ambience. It is a real hidden gem.

This was one of our favorite culinary experiences ever. Chef Munashe is attentive, knowledgeable, and charming. We were fortunate to be served by him. His wine pairings and conversations with each African inspired dish was really meaningful. We left knowing we just had an experience like no other. We can’t recommend going here enough!

We had an absolutely fabulous time at Hari kitchen. The food was amazing and the chef’s pairing with wine was a treat! Chef Kwaramba was a wonderful, energetic host who carefully explained each dish and pairing and made us feel at home. One of the best meals we have had in South Africa and already looking forward to returning!

Best meal we had in South Africa

We had a fantastic lunch at Hari Kitchen. The food was delicious and memorable. The chef came out to speak to us about the food and wine pairings and he was passionate about every dish and committed to us enjoying our meal. The crawfish were remarkably tender and served alongside a rich and flavorful sauce. Every bite of the arancini were infused with a deep mushroom flavor. Best of all was the peanut soup, that was rich, mildly spicy, and flavored with sesame. We chose to go to this restaurant after reading about it in the NYTimes. It was a highlight of our trip. Don’t miss it.

A must stop for lunch in the Winelands

Hari Kitchen at Topiary Wines for lunch is most definitely a must while you visiting the Winelands. Munashe Chef and Sommelier serves delicious food and can talk you through the wines as well. So much love goes into it and a wonderful story for of each dish.

AMAZING!!!!!

Without a doubt my best gastronomical experience in South Africa, the restaurant is located in a beautiful winery with stunning views, we were received by Chef and Sommelier Nash, who knew how to take care of us in a way we will never forget. Each course was delicious and paired with a wine from the estate and i felt that there was a lot of work behind. I highly recommend this rare pearl in Franschhoek

A one of a kind experience!

Stopped for lunch during the Fall season with a local wine tour. Truly an incredible view and phenomenal food. The chef makes a point to serve all dishes and explain their context. He’s wonderful! Put this on your list for a relaxing meal with friends or family.

Exceptional Food! Highly Recommended.

The food here was truly the best that I have had since arriving in South Africa! My sons thoroughly enjoyed the chicken curry paired with the Chardonnay. I had baked con with creamed spinach and it was excellent. The chef was serving the food during our visit and described the food he was serving us. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you!

A Hidden Gem!

What a great experience! Haris Kitchen provided us with some of the best food we have experienced in South Africa. It’s more remote location, provides even more charm, with great servers and a fabulously talented Chef who came out of his way to talk to us about the food and inspirations! Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting something a little different!

Hari Kitchen: Not to Be Missed in Franschhoek

This restaurant is an 'under the radar' gem, but shouldn't be for very long. It's a bit out of town, on the Topiary winery property but offers one of the best meals we've had anywhere in the world, accompanied by perfect wine pairings. We did the 'chef's surprise' tasting/pairing (stated 4 courses, but really 6!) and truly enjoyed the staff and chef's description of each dish's origin and the basis for the wine choice. The bubbles and oysters set the stage for the experience to follow. The chef's first career as a sommelier is evident in the curated list. Chef Nash, although exceptionally humble, is destined to be a culinary superstar, so visit his charming restaurant while he's still accessible! Wishing him all the best in what will assuredly be a stellar career-- and we look forward to enjoying his cuisine again in the near future.
