An artistic food experience! Very knowledgable and friendly waiter. I have severe food allergies and they handled that brilliantly (just let them know in advance so that they can prepare your menu accordingly) 💕

I am travelling alone and thought I'd treat myself to a nice lunch, as I'm not as comfortable going out for dinner by myself. It was superb! I was treated like royalty (actually, I was the only one there), and the food was a treat...in every way. I had the 4-course menu, but it included three extra little courses, all of them just delicious. Interesting combinations, intricately prepared and beautifully presented - a treat for the eye as well as the taste buds. My favourite courses were the tuna and the roasted edamame. The only thing I'd say is that it isn't cheap (but worth it!) - so not sure why TripAdvisor has it listed under 'Budget Bites'.More

It was horrible experience in Oku restaurant. The food was bad and not tasty. Sushi was with cold rice, a lot of pepper and sesame everywhere, wasabi ice cream is so strange and not good. No balance in set. Very bad. But the worst thing...was service! We have stupid ( i am sorry) waitress, who could just describe dish like a robot but could do any service! The garbage from the straws were on the table during first 3 dishes, the sous from main fish was on the table when i ate desert. Nobody add more sake in my glass so i had to eat most of my dish with water and took half bottle of sake to home. And finally when i asked give us our bottle of water to home, she said that we finished it, although we drank just two small glasses and i saw that she used our water to different tables. I love food and adore restaurants thats why i can say that it was horrible. I was ready to cry because i didn’t get any pleasure and spend so much money in this place. Kind regards.More

We went for the 4 course dinner and really enjoyed it - there are three choices per course and costs R590 (you can add a dessert course for another R110 but we were full !). We really enjoyed the tuna tatami, Norwegian salmon, prawn toast...and soft shell crab. A big thanks to Live who looked after us - service was great.More

The first half of the menu was great and good pacing, but then it dropped off significantly and the dishes did too. The trout and dessert particularly didn't work. Our dinner ended up lasting over 4 hours! No one apologised for this or let us...know there had been an issue of any kind. I also had to ask for water multiple times when it was clear there were no drinks on the table. So very much an experience of two halves!More

What a superb restaurant. We had a 4 course meal which turned into a 7 course meal with all the complimentary dishes. Every single one of them was a taste experience and we rated it as our favourite meal ever. Enjoy.

We had the four course option which was enough given how much we are eating this holiday and they added little complimentary items along the way. Fun experience, lovely dishes beautifully presented and packed with flavour. Service was informative friendly and paced just right for...us. Martin did a great job. It was excellent value for the skill and expertise especially given we are used to London prices. Definitely something to try if you like Tasting menus and fusion foodMore

Booked here on our visit due to the outstanding reviews and the price for such high quality food vs the UK. We chose the four courses which was supplemented by additional bonus snacks which was great. Staff were lovely and decor was great. Food flavours...were outstanding and loved everything we had. I absolutely loved the complimentary miso fudge and wish I could have bought boxes to take home and devour! My only criticism was the length between courses was far too long. We’ve done fine dining and Michelin meals before to enjoy a pause between courses but the wait we experienced was far too long and two hours in we were only two courses into our four. We did ask if we could get this sped up as we were tired and it did move slightly faster. After we requested, the couple next to us also made comment about the length and asked if courses could come more quickly. If that was sorted to be a more appropriate time then I couldn’t fault the night. I don’t doubt they will continue to do well.More

This wonderful dinner exceeded all our expectations. The food kept coming and was expertly conceived and prepared. Delicious taster plates over a 9 course menu. Service was friendly and professional. Our waiter was amazing.

We decided to book this place for dinner on a but of a whim and the food was out of this world. We opted for the Kaiseki menu (lots of little courses) and EVERYTHING was delicious. We didn't do the wine pairing as had consumed...a lot that day on the wine tram. The setting is lovely, it's really not what you expect (ie fine dining in a village) but it was well worth it. Would highly recommend and SUPER good value for money (compared to UK prices).More

This was a truly stunning dining experience. We chose from the a la carte rather than tasting menu. So four courses but they brought the first three items on the house, small but extremely tasty dim sum. Every single course was utterly delicious. Prawn toast...was slightly spicy just right and the beef dumplings were Devine. Excellent friendly service and calm elegant atmosphere. Reminded me of a much more expensive restaurant Hakkasan.More

Besides for opening new restaurants, and setting ludicrously high standards in the culinary world, Ryan Shell is chef/owner of one of the finest Asian inspired eateries you’ll find in South Africa, Okū Restaurant 🍤🍱 By far one of the wildest food “labyrinths” I’ve ever had...the opportunity to experience! 😮‍💨🤯 The attention to the finest of detail coupled up with clean, yet subtly explosive flavours, colour and aromas are a few of the many reasons you need to reserve a table at Okū YESTERDAY already!!! Ryan likes to say he’s an introvert, but his food states the complete opposite. The visit to his restaurant had me feeling complete 🧘 #restaurant #dineout #eatout #asianeatery #finedining #franschhoek #okūMore
