My husband and I came here while staying next door at Le Quartier Francais (also recommended!)
We didn't realize it was a fixed menu (my own fault for booking too many things at the same time). It turned out to be an extensive fixed menu (~8 courses) with delightful surprises along the way. We were blown away - one of the best meals we've ever had!
The seafood was outstanding. The service is impeccable, and the presentation of the food unique. Prepare to be wowed!
Recommend for a special occasion.

We were able to reserve a table for dinner at the restaurant. Already the premises with the art presented are a delight.
We have been seated in the lounge area and they served two dishes of the 11 course menue there.
Each of remaining 9 plates were just a joy for the eyes and for the mouth.
We did not chose the wines accompanying, but selected three different ones according to recommendation of the sommelier. All three of them were delicious.
If you go there, bring time along with you for the entertaining dining experience.

The wait is over. Finally LPC has a venue that is worthy of its food. +
Bubbly Marion is a shoo-in for hostess and Rylan, the sommelier, knows exactly when you want your glass topped up.
The only thing I'm not sure about is charging for tap water (even if it's filtered). They say you can't bring your own wine but they don't say anything about water ...

We are fortunate to have enjoyed meals at some of SA’s top restaurants. One expects the food to be extraordinarily good, with flavours in particular delighting the senses. The food was very good but it was not exceptional. The service felt mechanistic, the wine pairing good, not great, but again wine information shared mechanistically with no sense of passion for food or wine. It is a worthwhile experience but not the delight that we had hoped for or anticipated or even previously experienced at La Colombe. The setting is superb, but that is not why one goes to a restaurant.

Having been to La Colombe itself on a few previous occasions we were expecting excellence and that is what we got!!
We enjoyed the "Chef Reduced Experience" at dinner and selected a wonderful bottle of Olifantsberg Blanc which matched pretty much all the delicious small courses and added a carafe of Invictus Red blend to go with the lamb main course.
The setting in the Leeu Estate is absolutely fabulous and matched the excellence of the food and coupled with first rate staff and a brilliant sommelier the whole evening was a delight.
Whist it is not cheap for South Africa by International standards this is well priced and well worth saving for!

I had really high hopes for this place and it all started off really well when we got there with drinks and snacks (two brilliantly presented bites) in the lounge before moving to our table.
Opted for the full chef’s experience. You actually have two of the courses in the lounge area so by the time you’re seated you’re two down.
We were a 18:30 booking on a Saturday night. The food was lovely - brilliantly presented, perfect sizes and all but the Wagyu was wonderful experience (steak wasn’t as melt in the mouth as expected, a bit chewy).
However… as the restaurant got more and more busy, the service out of the kitchen and in the restaurant rapidly degraded. The gaps between courses got noticeably longer, up to 25 minutes between the last few (having had the first few coming about 5/10 minutes apart). The ability to catch someone’s eye became increasingly difficult too. As such, we had no drinks other than water after we were seated.
In the end we were in there for over three hours - lovely place to spend time but if you’re heading back to Cape Town and need to beat the curfew, don’t book too much of a later sitting!
No “how was everything” - probably because the staff including the manager were so busy running around.
Might give it another go, probably at lunchtime though.

The most wonderful dining experience ever! From the minute you walked in the door you were treated like royalty. The ambience was simple, but elegant, with a beautiful view of the lovely gardens with the mountains in the background. The service was fantastic - attentive, accommodating to specific requests and very friendly. The food was out of this world , not only in flavor but the presentation was stunning, it was like you were eating a piece of art! I tried things I would not have usually ordered, and was pleasantly surprised. We had the reduced winter menu for lunch. The variety of tastes was fantastic and the small portion sizes allowed me to taste everything and fully satisfied without feeling "stuffed". Highly recommend to treat yourself, you will not regret it.

It’s easy to see why this is a highly rated eatery. From the moment you arrive the staff are able to indulge every one of your senses in a meal experience. Everything is done at the highest level and with laser like focus to detail. Every moment of the meal is a piece of eating heaven.

It’s really hard to do La Petite Colombe justice with words because the art is in the cuisine and how do you translate taste into semantics?
My husband, eleven year old son and I had Christmas lunch at La Petite Colombe and, although I hesitated at the price, which was steep even by London prices let alone South African, it was worth every penny. This restaurant, the environment and the food are absolutely world class and the service is attentive and knowledgable without being stuffy and up itself.
I’m not going to say too much about our ten courses because La Petite Colombe is theatre on a plate and I really wouldn’t want to add a spoiler. Suffice to say the food was original, flavours were exquisite and some of the entertainment was utterly unique. We had the classic wine pairing which was perfect.
My son was probably too young and his palate too immature to fully appreciate the food and although the atmosphere was relaxed and we had the opportunity to explore the stunning grounds in between courses, I think the full experience was a little lost on him. There were no other children there during our lunch. That said, we were made to feel very welcome and children certainly aren’t excluded. He loved the sweet trolly! I just think at the price tag it’s probably a waste.
It’s a wonderful experience.
Franschoek is a classy town and in my opinion Leeu Estates and La Petite Colombe are the jewel in its crown. We can’t wait to come back.

The tasting menu is superb - interesting flavours, cleverly done with lots of beautifully designed plates of food and theatrical devices to keep it interesting. If I had one complaint it would be that the portions were just a bit too generous for a tasting menu of 10 courses! We had the matching wines which gave us a chance to enjoy and discover some of the interesting local wines. A very special birthday treat.

We arrived a little early for our Sunday lunchtime reservation but spent a few minutes meandering through the gardens which set a lovely tone for the rest of the meal. The Spring Menu is reasonably priced and exceptional value for money. Each dish manages to captivate the senses and La Petite Colombe has struck gold with its choice of venue in Leeu Estate. The salmon main course as well as the Saldanha Bay oysters with apple & soy dressing were a particular highlight for me. And the dessert trolley, reminiscent of Willy Wonka’s fantasy world was a sweet ending to an amazing gastronomic adventure. 10/10 for service excellence from start to finish.

As a party of 3 having lunch here without much planing, we were taken by a overwhelming surprise. The menu and the wine / drink paring was such a creative modern cuisine experience!
The presentation of all dishes was outstanding.
Highly recommend!

This is one of the finest but that said we were mildly disappointed perhaps finding LPC overhyped. The food is exemplary but we felt of nine course three were poorly defined (what were we eating?). The fact that we cannot recall to recommend a single dish perhaps says something!!
The wine list is as impressive as you will find anywhere. The sommelier was helpful but that aside we never felt anyone "owned" our evening with too many staff engaged in each table - we had to ask not to be rushed on a couple of occasions. The dining room is large, open and airy with picture windows adding to the whow factor.
Maybe it was not a good night but I suspect LPC needs a kick in the he backside if is to keep its exemplary reputation.
We did enjoy the very intrusive presence of a large fire extinguisher on the wall at our table - an odd dinner companion - in such a beautiful room one would have thought they might be better located!!

This is by far the best restaurant in South Africa when it comes to fine dining, and also the most expensive. The food is extraordinary and the presentation of the same is second to none. The waiters are well trained, friendly and service is top notch. If you love exquisit food that tickles your taste butts, when you love to dine for several hours, this is the place. It's hard to get a table, so be prepared to book far in advance. Views are stunning as well. I think the wines are definitely overpriced, wine parings are ridiculously expensive and the atmosphere in the restaurant is not very pleasant. For us personally, the dining room was too casual and resembled a cantine rather than a fine dining restaurant, chairs are uncomfortable and the noise level is very high. There are no table cloths, the food is presented on the actual table which to us was a bit of a downer. But definitely a place to recommend.

We had the excellent tasting menu for dinner. The taste and balance of the various courses was very good. However the restaurant had little atmosphere, when we entered the empty restaurant with nothing on the tables. It resemble a works canteen.
Also, the practice of customers meeting the Chef did nothing to enhance the evening.
