Have been here on both of our visits to Franschhoek which should say something. On both occasions the food and service were excellent. Nice touches like having blankets on the back of the chairs outside. However both times the restaurant was very quiet so lacking...in atmosphere. Not sure if it’s because of its location down a little lane (only 20-30 yards). It’s a shame as deserves to be busier and definitely worth a visit.More

Just walk through a garden of the main road in Franschhoek and you can sit in the beautiful garden of Cafe des Arts away from the crowds. Friendly service and delicious food, some local dishes and international. I really enjoyed it.

Enjoyed dinner here in the evening it a nice garden courtyard. The meals aren’t fussy, they are tasty with big portions. The service was good and the staff really friendly. Got bitten in the garden so wear mosquito repellent. Also suggestion for the chef -...we had curry- it was great but it would be lovely to serve some naan with it!More

A very relaxed place a short walk away from the main road. Nice backyard with a small kids playground. We came for three nights in a row as the food was so delicious. A very diverse menu as well. Lovely staff and very friendly owner...who always welcomed us personallyMore

Lovely garden setting with plenty of tables in the shade. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch, food and wine both great. Nice to be away from the traffic which is pretty constant through the centre of Franschoek.

WE came here as our hotel struggled to find us a reasturant so we went for a walk and got a table here. It's not as posh as a lot of the reasturants here but had a good wine list , great food in a...cosy little reaturant with a lovely yard to sit in if the weather is good enough. And the service was top notch. Thanks for a lovely evening.More

We found this lovely restaurant when strolling around Franschhoek. Booked a table in the evening for 4 family members. The staff were charming and courteous from our welcome to the end of our great meal. The food is far more traditional than some of the...more up market restaurants in the town, which we liked enormously. Very reasonably priced too. We will be back!!More

We love this gorgeous restaurant that is set back from the main high street. We have dined outside under the trees many times and always enjoy fantastic food and great service in a relaxed setting. We would highly recommend Cafe Des Arts.

Very pleasant garden set just off the Main Street. There’s an interesting choice of local dishes as well as more European dishes. We just had a main course of wild kudu which although a little tough had great flavour and a lovely jus. The service...was slow at prime time but didn’t detract from a good experience.More
