Recently had dinner here and it was one of the best meals on our 2 week trip. We ate on our last night and it was lovely evening. Everything was delicious, starting with the bread and finishing with a great desert. The staff were lovely...and the restaurant is newly done up and looks beautiful with a nice ambience. Hope to come back again!More

We hadn’t booked anything in Franschoek re dining and our hotel host suggested Reubens. The menu is interesting and the food ordered arrived promptly as did the wine. The Springboek steak was fabulous as was the sauce/jus - recommended.

We were staying practically next door, Franschhoek Boutique hotel and Rueben's was always going to be one of our must go to places for dinner again when in Franschhoek. Pre-booked two weeks in advance and paying the deposit via dineplan, always a warm welcome and...quickly seated. Fine menu, excellent wines to choose from(a bottle of Rose Delaire Graff was chosen), and three courses enjoyed. Lamb Ravioli to begin, Seafood Risotto, and creme brûlée to finish. Delicious cuisine, the restaurant was full by 7pm- its easy to see why.More

Bistro type food. The squid is a must- best on the menu. Everything else was pretty average. Risotto was a miss. Good service. Nice vibe.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection, especially the springbok. Reservations are a must, even on a Tuesday the restaurant was packed.

Glad we booked a table and the receipt was very friendly as all staff was during the evening. The setting is very nice and the food we liked it a lot. The sprinbok steak and the linefisch were cooked very well and the Waterford rose...was a very good pairing wine. Nice to go back onceMore

We had dinner here on our first night in Franschhoek and what a treat it was. Both meals were ordered (springbuck and seafood risotto) were delicious! Service was good and it had a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend but you do need to book as it...was busy and we were there midweek during the off season.More

Lovely restaurant- off the beaten track but well worth a visit! Friendly service, delicious food and wines. Can recommend the springbok & the pork belly washed down with Pinot noir. The desserts we enjoyed were the chocolate pave & creme brûlée!

My wife and I had squid as starters, which was delicious. My fillet steak was also very good bu my wife’s pork belly was overcooked and dry. Make sure they leave the wine you order on the table. Our wine was put next to another...identical bottle on a shelf which ended up being consumed by the people at the adjoining table. When this was pointed out to our waiter he denied it. Service was poor and will not be returning.More

Came in because of good trip advisor reviews, met a sullen host. That’s ok cause the service was amazing considering we had 2 kids who were well catered for by a smiling and willing staff. The food though was meh. Bland and mostly ok. Choose...both the winter menu and a la carte. Wouldn’t recommend really…More

Our okay experience at Reuben's was ruined by what happened when it came to paying the bill, and especially by what followed. We were a group of 6 and our bill was about 4k ZAR with tip. However, the staff charged my friend's credit card...for 7k ZAR, essentially doubling the amount. At this point, this could have been an honest mistake. We asked the staff to correct it but they were unable to cancel the transaction (odd, other businesses seem to be able to do that), and the manager asked us to provide banking details. US travelers will confirm that a stranger asking for banking details is a major red flag. The manager refused to pay us back in cash or use any other trustworthy payment method (e.g., PayPal, Venmo). After a week after providing banking details (when it was safe to assume that we - a group of tourists - have departed Franschhoek), the manager emailed us saying that money transfer was too expensive after all and offered us a restaurant voucher instead. This is clearly useless for a group of tourists, such as us, who visited Franschhoek for just a few days and won't be back in the near future. Reuben's seems to be run by scammers. There are plenty of great restaurants in Franschhoek. So why get scammed at Reuben's when you can have a much better experience elsewhere?More
