Casual dining at its most refined, no pretence but sublime combinations of flavour… delivered beyond expectations in a down to earth setting with excellent service that made for a perfectly relaxing evening.. crayfish bisque and pork belly were excellent

On our arrival at the restaurant. All covid protocols were dealt with and we were then taken to our table which was situated in the middle of the venue right next to where the alchol is served and where the accounting gets done as well...as the credit card machines gets operated. It is also the place where the waiters stand snd chat whilst they wait for the food orders to come off the pass. And finally it is also like a major railway station as it is the main thoroughfare from the kitchen to the tables. We were shown the menus which are written on a black board and while we were reading the Menu - we could barely chat about the options as the music was quite loud. We had looked at the menu on the website but none of the options we had “chosen” were on the menu. We then chose what we were going to have snd it took the waiter 26 minutes to return to the table to take the order. My husband and I both chose the parmesan potato soufflé and agreed that it was quite bland. I chose the pork belly and he had the lamb neck. He said it was “okay” but he would not rave about it. I had the pork belly and was extremely disappointed that there was no crackling on the top but it had about 2.5 cm of plain soft fat. The veg was well prepared but also not fancy food. Both the food snd the service was not a pleasant experience and most definitely not the wow factor that I wanted and expected! The drive through to the restaurant and back plus the bad service and not good food - spoilt the evening which was meant to be a truly special birthday for an awesome man.More

The whole evening was great. The service was on point and friendly. The food was excellent, soufflé to start, gnocchi was good but not as would be expected for an Italian pasta, the Pork was superb. No desserts. The wine was very reasonable. Great atmosphere!...Will definitely return.More

Lovely lunch at Reuben’s! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food is absolutely delicious. The only downside was very slow service. If you are keen for a long lunch or dinner, the perfect place!

We were a party of 6 who dined at Reuben's this past Saturday evening. On arrival our hands were sanitised but no temperature checks done. Mike was a very attentive server and did a fantastic job looking after us. Can't fault the food either -...it was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Sadly, there were hardly any Covid protocols in place as the restaurant got full very quickly. This made our entire group extremely nervous and we felt we needed to rush through our meal just to get out of there as we didn't feel safe at all. With warnings of a 3rd wave of infections, I feel that establishments such as Reuben's should be doing their best to make patrons feel safe.More

The food is sublime, the art adorning the walls is inspiring and the outdoor seated area worked perfect for our family, as we are very careful to stay in our little "bubble". We have never visited at night as we do not relish the drive...back to Stellenbosch, but I imagine the fairy lights at night would be very romantic. I can recommend the lamb - the garlic added was just right - not erring to being overpowering like some restaurants do.More

What a beautiful setting inside - from the well-selected music to the carefully choreographed menu, everything just seem to seemingly flow into each other, making our first time at the restaurant quite special (we were not able to obtain a booking for supper before, but...the lockdown restrictions made it possible for us to just walk in and be served).More

Visited for lunch for my husband's birthday and the food was absolutely delicious. The flavours of each dish was absolutely superb. Waiters an absolute delight and extremely attentive. This has been my second visit and did not disappoint at all. Thank you for an excellent...and memorial lunch. Compliments to the chefs and kitchen staff.More

How thorough are you with COVID protocols. We are seniors so must be very careful. How busy are you on Sat 21 Nov lunch? We dont want to come when you are too full. It is our 41th Anniversary. Truida Prekel
