We spent a wonderful time at the restaurant on the 21.th of April. The food and service was extraordinary, we enjoyed every moment. Fresh oysters, steak tartar, sqiud, fillet steak and the porkbelly, everything was spot on. Thx to the chef and the whole team.
We arrived without a booking and on a Tuesday for lunch. Friendly helpful staff that really knew about the menu. Very fast serving food. So far the best meal we’ve had in awhile. Amazing risotto that was only on the day menu. Really great malva...pudding dessert. Would only advise the restaurant to have a better Espresso. Already came recommended by a friend. So I recommend it to anyone as well. Would and will come back again.
Thank you for having usMore
We were recommended this restaurant by our host, it was absolutely delicious food and great service. The atmosphere is relaxed but feels like a treat to be there. My husband had the fillet steak which looked amazing and I had an extremely delicious risotto.
The food (starters, mains & desserts) was great. Our waiter was extremely nice but at the same time professional and helpful. The price is also good. Overal a very pleasent and nice experience that I would recommend to everyone.
We’d booked here well in advance as our previous attempt at getting a table pre-pandemic was unsuccessful so we were expecting great things.
The restaurant itself is lovely with a nice atmosphere.
We started with bread served in advance of our meals; starters my wife...went for the tempura king prawns whilst I had mussels. For mains we both went for the sirloin steak which arrived with the meat being sliced accompanied with tiny vegetable portions and served in a jus.
All very nice but portions on both courses were minute
We ordered a bottle of wine which was then taken away so we were unable to pour the wine ourselves and we were at the mercy of the waiter spotting that our glasses need refilling.
To finish my wife ordered a Musgrave Rose gin & tonic whilst I had an Irish coffee - these took forever to arrive and when they did, it seemed a shame to dirty the glass as they were tiny.
Service was poor by comparison to other restaurants we’d visited whilst in Franschhoek and it was the most expensive meal of our entire holiday.
Very overrated and not good value for money.More
The food and service were excellent, and the seating was very comfortable. The mussels starter was superb - the best ever, and my wife's tuna tartare was very good. The only downside was the absence of a basket of bread - the small amount on...the bread board was hopelessly inadequate. A sliced baguette would have been more appropriate. Our main couses of springbok and duck were both delicious. The house red wine was excellent value and went really well with the meat couses.
There is a problem with the restaurant, which is essentially a large rectangular room, is noise. Because there are no carpets, curtains, or room dividers, the noise was almost deafening. We found it very difficult to hear each other across a small table for two! This would be a perfect restaurant fir romantic dinners if the nkise could be attenuated!More
