Went with family. Was asked if i wanted a bedside lamp. Clean room Food was average...5/10 Host tried but not the same standard as the previous Belgium manager. Communal tea coffee station had the cat food next to it. I thought it was a biscuit...at first. They hosted a party on late afternoon which took away all the peace and tranquility of the beautiful garden. Dont go with your family. A nice place to go for a drink, but thats it.More

The food in the restaurant was excellent. We reserved just a day in advance and were happy they could fit us in. The staff was very friendly. The "lady of the house" was really nice and we had a nice conversation with her.

Really super chef - nightly changing, 4 course set menu. My night was pea and white truffle soup, herby garden fresh salad followed by fantastic fillet steak on a garlic mash and tempura spring onions with a mustard cream. chocolate pudding with liqueurs. Very elegant...presentation and quality cookingMore

Kings Walden, near Tzaneen is famous for its view, gardens and rich family history. Add to those friendly staff, good food and wine . . and you have magic. We took our two friends, visiting from Portugal and were treated like old friends by Bridget...and her staff. The set 3 course meal and wine from the Robertson valley had us ooh-ing and aah-ing!More

As a first time dinner guest I was blown away by the meal, the quality as well as the service. We had a 4-course set dinner which included their delicious osso bucco. Although there was no need to supervise the waiters as they were extremely...attentive (without being obtrusive), the chef kept an eye on the service and guests’ perceptions of her food.More

This hotel is about a 15 minute drive outside of Tzaneen and has a magnificent view overlooking the local valley, avocado farms, and rolling hills. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had 2 excellent dinners at the restaurant (four course fixed menu)....The wine options are relatively limited but good choices for white and red from South Africa (one of the Chenin blancs was excellent). The hotel rooms are spacious with a desk for work, arm chairs, fire place and a large comfortable bed. The only minor limitation for our visit happened when we returned late one evening (around 10 pm) and the hotel and restaurant had closed. We had left our keys with the reception so it took a few phone calls to find someone to help us. It all worked out fine and we would definitely visit this elegant property again.More
