Terrible service. Came down to the coffee shop for waffles , the first two days we were told that there was no waffle mix and to come back again. On the third day , was told the waffle machine was broken as the waffles are...sticking to the machine.More

Speciality cappuccino wasn't tasty and whilst the Belgian waffle looked mouth watering it was a disappointment, a portion was doughy, under cooked and tasted rather bland. Could've whipped up something way tastier at the chalet Not worth a visit

We decided to have dinner at the Hotel Restaurant instead of cooking at the Chalet. The main restaurant closed for Dinner on a Saturday evening! We were directed to the Coffee Shop which I am told uses the same menu. The menu had line fish...as one of the mains.None of the staff knew what line fish was on offer? One even suggested that it may be hake. We ordered a Waldorf salad which had no grapes, lettuce, or celery. The apples were drenched in yogurt instead creamy mayonnaise. There were a few minute chips of walnuts. The goat cheese which was one of the ingredients on the menu was missing. When I questioned the Waiter he was quite apologetic and stated there there no qualified chef for 6 weeks. Both the stir fried meals were substandard. The mixed sea food dish did not have any prawns or fish in it, mainly "crab sticks " and squid pieces. The pork was fatty and not cooked well. Overall a very unpleasant experience. Not recommended at all.More

While the ladies in the group were visiting the spa I caught up with some important communications (the WiFi is quite adequately fast for a remote venue in the mountains) and enjoyed a very relaxed cup of coffee (while also avoiding a delicious looking waffle).

One word comes to mind disappointing. We stayed at this resort for 7 days and will not recommend staying here at all, it was a total waste of money. We stayed in what’s was suppose to be a “Deluxe Suite” - compared to our last...visit, chalets have deteriorated to such an extent, that it was far from Deluxe, although it was cleaned on a daily basis, it was smelly, had to request towels ( which arrived like 3 hrs later after 3 calls to reception, chalet lacked the “white sugar” & even after several requests we failed to obtain same. The food was less than mediocre, did not cater for the Hindu (no lamb & decent chicken products were available at buffet, had to drive to Drakensburg Sun to obtain a decent buffet/ food. In terms staff management, very poor, certain were very unfriendly, fraustrated, rude & very unhelpful. Staff were either badly trained or didn't know anything, every question was answered with "I don't know", this applied especially the staff members from The Daily Market & The Tavern Pub. The pub was very under catered, no proper or decent alcohol (branded ) Vodca or Gin available, service took more than 30 min before arrival of any orders. There no WIFI facility in chalets & no proper or decent TV / channels available, only good thing was the heated beds & decent fire place. The spa, was fairly priced, staff was friendly, it was neat, staff were very pleasant & friendly ( would recommend) In term of the facilities for teens, table tennis & pool equipment badly damaged, untidy,, PS3 needs to be upgraded & area needs to be cleaned with proper detergents & not untidy smelly wet clothes (this come from a hygiene perspective) -board game were in a very poor condition, could go on forever about how disappointing this place is or has become, however it was our family bonding time & get away so made our own memories. The roads leading to the place was in a very terrible state no lighting at night, narrow roads, terrible terrible pot holes, was a frightening experience traveling as a women, wouldn’t suggest it for other females or families esp at night. My suggestion: Don't bother esp when you having to pay such rates only for accommodation. The rest of the Drakensberg area, esp Drakensburg Central, from Cayley lodge to Drakensburg Sun can not be painted with the same brush. breathtaking and beautiful.More

This resort is the ideal getaway for all types of vacationing - whether you want the peace and tranquillity of the outdoors or the comfort of a well spec'ced villa. Amenities are all available - service is excellent, and the venue is close to most...major routes. Kids can be left on their own with no issues. Accommodation is comfortable and there is enough utensils to make your stay convenient. The scenery and views are tremendous, and this could the perfect stress reliever after a year of hard toiling.More

One word comes to mind "awful" I stayed at this resort for 5 days, I do not recommend staying here at all, it was a total waste of money. The food is less than mediocre service and management included, the ceiling at reception was falling...down, no one seemed to care. Staff were either badly trained or didn't know anything, every question was answered with "I don't know" The spa, was moved to a chalet, you walk into what looks like some-one really badly decorated kitchen, prices for treatments remained high though. I could go on forever about how bad this place is or has become. My suggestion: Don't bother! The rest of the Drakensberg area however, can not be painted with the same brush. breathtaking and beautiful.More

A par coffee shop that can make the basics. The service can be improved; I dislike searching for waiters

We came here to check out Alpine Heath to see what all the fuss is about. Brought 2 small kids and the service is extremely slow and the food is disgusting. My kids had milk shakes and toasted sarmies and chips. We had the burger..., was pretty disgusting. The coffee was quite ok. I found the resort pretty awful and had zero charm. The shop was terrible and had zero stock of anything. You are forced to buy a r50 voucher per person to come into the resort. They won't be seeing me again.More
