What an amazing dinner out - and the food was really special. We started with the oyster platter that was simply delicious - 10 oysters done 5 different ways - yummy.
For mains I had the catch-of-day which was baked kabeljou. The skin was cooked to perfection with a hint of fennel, the mash and veggies were great and the bearnaise sauce completed the dish.
My wife had the Hake Waleska and this was an absolute treat too.
We finished with a Dom Pedro and Irish Coffee - both lacked the taste of a good tot of alcohol, unfortunately.
The waitron, Michaela, suggested the signature wine Kitchen Windows Cabernet Sauvignon and it really was full-bodied and delightful.
Great view, super ambience and excellent value for money.
We will definitely revisit when next in town.

Wow, from an awesome setting right on the beach to amazing food. Service was excellent and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and the specials available. The sole we ordered was definitely worth it, very tasty and presented beautifully. Definitely worth the visit.

I got off to a poor start when I was put at an unpleasant table, more or less on top of the restaurant administration centre with a view and soundtrack of the same, and a temperature in the upper 20s. I was assured on arrival that I would be moved to the outside deck shortly, but that happened only serendipitously when I started to draw up some battle lines. Werner adequately handled my mutinous behaviour and did well at humouring me. Beware of solo diners: they can get a little uppity as they do not have to consider the wishes of any companions and can act independently of any attention drawing embarrassments. Not that, in my case, I would be deterred even by a coiterie of friends.
The four oysters I had to start were excellent, but could have been a little more chilled. I declined the various additives offered on the menu to interfere with their taste and texture. Why do this?
The mains of linefish, Cape Salmon, was generously served in what must have been a 400g portion, with mashed potatoes, carrots and fine green beans, and a separate butter lemon sauce. The texture of the fish was good, but overall the whole ensemble lacked flavour. There was nothing wrong with it; it was just a bit tasteless and unimaginative, I thought. But filling and wholesome, undoubtedly.
Washed down with a glass of Rosè, the bill with tip came to a very reasonable R340. I wouldn't go out of my way to come again, but if in the area would certainly give it another try. This is obviously the top offering in Jbay I've come across.

Thank you Brian, appreciate the constructive feedback. Please just note that we only have 19 tables, your reservation came in 13th, hence the reason you could not sit in front.

From the greeting on our arrival to the presentation of the bill at the end of the evening, we were treated like royalty.
Steve was our waitron and he kept us entertained with anecdotes about the restaurant and the area.
The food was sublime .... hot and freshly prepared.
Hubby had the line fish of the day,
which was the galjoen. Served with roasted veg and mash, he said it was really good.
I ordered a rump steak, which was prepared medium, also served with roasted veg and mash. The steak was cooked to perfection.
We definitely recommend Kitchen Windows as a restaurant worth the visit.

Go for the fantastic location, friendly staff and great cocktails.
Now the food (Marius we have read your previous replies to patrons on TA, some which we found quite entertaining but we need to be honest) A+ location, setup, staff and cocktails and maybe we just didnt try the right food items on the menu but apart from the tempura fried calamari tapas (which were nice) the rest was a little disappointing. The Calamari poppers are a big no from us and we do not recommend it at all - apart from it being R70 for literally 3 calamari tubes on a plate, the combination didnt work for us. We did gently express that it wasnt our favorite item ordered but it wasnt worth ruining a lovely evening over. The Hake Waleska main also didnt quite impress. It just all seemed very 'drenched' in the creamy topping.
On a side note; the mash was very good.
If in Jeffreys for a couple of nights and you are looking for location location location then this would be it, pretty much right on the beach.

Thank you Joletta-luise, I appreciate the feedback. The poppers are a new item we are trying out, the feedback has been positive but I certainly take your comments into account. We have made a few changes to the dish, I believe it will do well. The Waleska is unfortunately a saucy dish and certainly very old school, I took it off the menu a while ago for exactly this reason, but back by popular demand....
Sorry you did not enjoy the meal, but thank you for the feedback.

During our recent stay in Jeffrey’s Bay the Kitchen Windows was recommended by the manager at our guest house.
Our experience was so good that we dined there again two nights later and it didn’t disappoint!
On our first visit we all started with the tempura calamari which was very good. This was followed by fillet steaks cooked to perfection.
Two nights later we sampled the prawns which were amazing! Of a good size, nice and plump with a delicious flavour. Very moreish!
A great vibe, delicious food, attentive but unobtrusive service and a friendly, helpful waitress and manager made for two memorable evenings. Can definitely recommend the Kitchen Windows.

At the end of the beach, a remarkable address! Nothing between the restaurant and the ocean! Ah yes, excellent dishes in an atmosphere of smiles and efficiency! You can see that blissful smile on the face of those who have already eaten and the brilliant look on the faces of those waiting!! Okay, that's a long way, but if you're around, it's a must! The capital of stuffed squirrels, a killing!!!!!

This is our weekly spot on Friday's and it maintains a very high standard of food, service and cleanliness. The owners bring some fresh & wild surprises in from time to time, including musselcracker wings, fine wagyu steak, etc.
Feet flat on the ground and no pretentions - just good food and services with wonderful views.

Unfortunately, we were only able to eat there three times because we had to leave. Everything we ate there was outstanding! Whether it was various oysters, fish with a beautiful crispy skin and juicy inside, or perfectly cooked vegetables with delicious mashed potatoes. Or the steak, cooked medium-rare. A crust on the outside, buttery tender on the inside with bérnaise sauce – fantastic! All this with a view of the sea. The restaurant alone was worth the trip! 😄👍

Twice visited, twice blessed. We will remember how wonderful fresh fish can taste, spotting dolphins from our table whilst chatting to Steve the proprietor and being immersed in the delightful ambience. Having visited South Africa four times, Kitchen Window is in our top three places that we will go out of our way to revisit.

Excellent restaurant. Both the food and the service where really good. I loved the informal atmosphere and of course, the view on the ocean. I had the smoked snoek samosas to start and then the flame-grilled prawns. Both delicious. The waiters were exceptionally friendly and well-informed about the food and Jeffreys Bay in general. I will most certainly return.

Called in on a busy Sunday lunchtime without a reservation and staff couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. My elderly friend wasn’t sure she would find anything she would cope with and our waiter was so helpful putting together a couple of small dishes of tasty food. Needless to say she enjoyed every morsel. On a day when they were obviously busy it was so refreshing to have such good and patient service. We had visited 6 yrs ago and enjoyed ourselves enormously and it was good to revisit and not be disappointed. Thank you Kitchen Windows!
