My daughter and I had dinner at Peter Shields in early June and it was a wonderful experience! We made a reservation to have dinner on the porch and it was beautiful to see and hear the ocean while dining. We were greeted upon arrival...by very courteous hosts. Also we enjoyed the beautiful piano music being played. The gentleman even offered to play any requests we had. Just lovely! Our waiter, Dylan, was absolutely wonderful ! He was very polite, well-spoken, and extremely attentive to our needs. He answered any questions we had about the menu and made sure everything was okay with our food as it arrived. He checked on us, which we appreciated very much. For an appetizer, my daughter had the yellowfin tuna tartare which she loved. I had the potato leek soup which was delicious. For dinner I had the grilled pork chop and my daughter had the steak cooked as recommended by the chef. Both were perfectly cooked with deliciously prepared sides. We did not have room for dessert, unfortunately, but we were so pleased with our meals. Peter Shields provided excellent service . The inn is beautiful, and the food was exceptional as was the service. We look forward to returning next year. We had a wonderful dinner and with Dylan as our kind waiter, he provided wonderful service which made it even more enjoyable! A+ all around.More

We are on the outside porch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on a beautiful night. For our app we had the PSI Cheese Board which was good. For a main we got the 32 oz Cowboy Ribeye for Two. It came with potato purée, roasted carrots...and broccolini. The sides were all delicious but the highlight was most definitely the ribeye. They cooked to perfection half at medium and the other half at medium well to satisfy both of us. By far one of the best steaks both of us have ever had! For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake and the Toffee Pudding, both were very good. Our server Peter was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend PSI if you’re in Cape May.More

Our 3rd visit to PSI in 4 trips to Cape May. Til now considered it the best of the 8 or so fine dining places we ate in there. Last summer we had a great meal with a phenomenal seafood pasta 2d course. The food...this time was very good but not great. However the service was really disappointing. I would describe it as benign neglect. It was early evening and not yet full. And they had 3 waiters working the 6-7 tables on the porch, so no excuse in my book. We visit CM each summer, and we’ll be spending our $ elsewhere in future.More

We visited PSI for the first time this past week. It will definitely not be our last. It rivals any top restaurant in the area and could be the best! It's a small Inn style setting, quiet and beautiful. We were sat immediately, and given...menus shortly after. It's a BYOB. Our server, I think his name is Kristophe was excellent. On top of everything we needed. Shares plates, serving utensils, water, etc. We didn;t have to ask for a thing. He had the perfect balance of not being too forward with us but when asked questions, answered in an enthusiastic and knowledgeable way. Food was great. Some to mention are amazing oysters, Foie gras was awesome although very small. Tuna Tartare was great and had a nice portion. For entrees, Halibut and KC Steak was amazing. Defintiely try these dishes. Desserts were excellent too. Top to bottom, a great dining experience.More

Outstanding upscale meal in Cape May. Excellent cheeseboard, delicious brands, outstanding scallops, and very good steak. Excellent service and good location.

I was so excited to grab a reservation at this top tier restaurant and the food most definitely lived up to the hype. I had the halibut and my husband had the pork tenderloin, both cooked to perfection. I will concede that for those who...cannot or do not eat fish, the menu options are a bit limited. I think keeping the menu terse helps them focus on quality. For dessert, we had the toffee pudding - quite possibly one of the best desserts I've ever had and I'm typically more of a chocoholic. Only downside, our table location was not ideal, I had a view of the butler's pantry the whole evening and was in direct firing line of the air conditioner. So, next time around I would make a seating request with my reservation. But I would love to go back!More

This famous restaurant is located in a historic grand house with lovely views. It was a bit hard to get a reservation at a decent time, we had a 9 pm which got moved up to 8:30 pm but I still felt it a bit...late to be eating, we didn’t leave until 11 pm. Our Bulgarian server Peter was very personable, giving us the full history of the house when we were first seated. There is a live pianist who takes requests via phone and we enjoyed the musical accompaniments to our meal. I opted for the pan roasted halibut (imported from Alaska) since I eat branzino (this one imported from Turkey!) often. It was served with potato gnocchi and am aromatic truffle aioli. My friend, a vegetarian, was able to order a dinner sized portion of the gnocchi, which was a better option than the plain vegetables they offered her at first. For dessert my friends and I shared the toffee pudding (which looked like a small round cake) with caramel and vanilla ice cream, which was delicious. All in all, a late but delightful and tasty dinner in a beautiful setting. Note: they are BYOB.More

You deserve a night of fine dining....and this is a place for it. Food, service, ambiance all place it in a class by itself. Slightly dissapointing was the menu which i felt was too short and lacking in meat and veal dishes.

My brother and I were so excited to try this restaurant because of all the raving reviews. However, we were disappointed. The service was lovely, the views were lovely, but maybe we chose the wrong things to eat. I had the cheese plate, which was...OK. He had a cauliflower soup, which he said was also OK. I had the fusilli pasta with duck, which was tasteless and terrible. I was so disgusted by it, while my brother had the gnocchi, which was far tastier. We both had the duck for our third entree, which came a bit cold, but was tasty. Our dessert was the apple bread pudding, which was a bit dry. I am really sad t give this review, because I was truly hoping for an exquisite meal.More

We were underwhelmed by this restaurant. While the reservation staff was accomodating, everything else was far below expectations for a restaurant like this one. We arrived and were seated at the worst table, even though others remained unoccupied. They did move us upon request. Food...was just OK and service was slow and not very attentive. Waitress was poor. Desert was poor.More

Dress casual but golf shorts and shirt are ok. We would wear slacks and golf shirt going later for dinner.
