This has to be up there as one of the best restaurants from a quality of food perspective we have ever done on a road trip ( we have done great ocean road(sydney to adelaide in Oz , pacific highway 1 USA /Canada Los angeles to Vancouver and Europe all over). You will definitely need a car if you are in central Cape town as the restaurant is 25 minutes from center but boy isn't worth it. Pizzas are the nest ever, steaks and burgers amazing starters ( crumbled mushrooms wow. It only seats about 35 to 40 and you may have to wait. The food is Halal unique. The food is unbelievably tasty and please if you go the cape town go there - not to be confused with. Butchers grill when looking on google maps

Review of the Butcher's wife Belgravia Cape town Sameer who graciously accommodated us as they are always busy and full Served by Bulelwa with a smile and great service Food was extremely delicious We had a Classico Burger, beef fillet medal steak with sweet potato fries and cappuccino. Made to perfection. Comfortable seating Blankets provided for the cold chilly nights No bookings accepted A must to try when in Cape town.

My wife and I visited the restaurant on Saturday the 10 April 2021. The staff were very nice and they followed the Covid-19 regulations. The meals were well prepared and tasty. We were in Cape Town for a week and this restaurant food was the best food that we had eaten in Cape Town. A very big thank you to all the friendly staff for your excellent service. Regards from Mr A.K and Mrs U Hunsraj (Durban S.A)

Passionate about meat and trying Wagyu steaks whenever I have the opportunity, I left The Butcher's Wife very disappointed. --- Feeling for a hamburger, I decided to head to The Butcher's Wife. It is a nice looking restaurant on Belgravia. The deco is cool with an Italian twist to it (I didnt ask why, but I should have). The menu is on display on the walls, and already, I should have known that I was not going to have a great culinary experience. The walls were showing antipasti, baguettes, foccacie, pizze, pastas, grills .. etc. Too much on offer: do they bake, to they specialize in pasta, do they put meat first ....? I mean, the restaurant is called The Butcher's Wife ... I usually stay away from places that try to many things. I decided to give it a try. The restaurant was well (too much) staffed. I counted 8 people outside the kitchen. I ordered a Wagyu burger with fries and a pepper sauce on the side. What came was rather sad. * The patty was smallish and dry (I had ordered medium). It was also flavorless. Wagyu should melt in your mouth and have a distinct taste. * The sauce was a warmed up industrial concoction that had no taste. * Needless to say that the fries were neither fresh nor handcut. * I ordered a slice of baked cheese cake which tasted like it was stored with savoury food. Very unpleasant taste. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good piece of meat.

Wow, we ordered take out from them this evening and portion sizes was like two spoons, which they call medium. I was disgusted and amazed how expensive they are for such a small portion. Definitely not worth it. You definitely cannot get food from them when you are hungry.

I initially came for breakfast. I arrived at 11:45 , I waited a full 15 minutes before any waiter came to help me. When I wanted to order my breakfast they told me that it was too late. When their staff were staring at me and me asking to be served. The place is not big so it’s not hard to miss me. I was told I cannot order and even the manager had a major attitude with me. Really disappointed in this service. It’s not the first time . I let it go before , but continuous bad service Is a shame. Really really disappointed in this bad service and staff standing around having conversations instead of serving their paying customer. I will not return for such bad service.

Hi Saarah We are terribly sorry that you have had a bad experience with us. Great customer and product experience is extremely important to us and we therefore take our critics quite serious. There seem to be some confusion with your arrival time at TBW. According our surveillance cameras you arrived at TBW at 12h35, by which time our breakfast menu has been closed. Your waitron handed you 2 menus at 12h37. He then returned at12h40 to take your order by which time he also informed you that breakfast orders have been closed. He proceeded to ask the manager if you could be accommodated (which we often do should circumstances permit) but unfortunately the kitchen had already changed their setup for lunch and therefore could not accommodate you, for which you were cordially informed. The manager approached you at 12h45 to explain the situation. If you construe the manager not giving in to your request as major attitude, then we humbly opolgise. Please afford us the opportunity to improve on your bad experience with us by visiting us one more time. However, do arrive timeosly so that we are able to serve you your heart's desires. Thanks Team TBW

I was treated for my anniversary and it was one of my best experiences. The place had a small and intimate setting, staff friendly and the meals was absolutely The Best, flavorsome and so filling. The garlic spread was absolutely to die for. Definitely one of Cape Town's treasures.

We were a group of 12 for dinner. The food was amazing. Wide variety on the menu to chose from. Service was good. Think our waitress felt a bit overwhelmed. Would definitely recommend a visit to The Butchers Wife.

the food they serve is excellent. everything on the menu is great, from the pizza's to the steak and desert. the service from the staff is great. very good hygiene standards. only downfall is that they do not take bookings, it is first come first serve. so planning while on vacation can become difficult. the best steak i have ever eaten. they however need to increase seating capacity.

Thank you for your kind review. We are most certainly very pleased to hear that you have enjoyed your experience with us. Correction: The Butcher's Wife is owned by the owners of The Pickers Meat Co., who supplies TBW with the best quality meats and poultry, and not by the butchery next door as stated above. We trust that the statement above will be amended. Thanks once again, Team TBW

Place was packed but we were in luck as they could accommodate us as well. Staff friendly and welcoming. Didn't have to wait too long for our meals. Was beautiful and very filling. Couldn't get enough of their "secret" ingredient.

We ordered a T-bone medium, Alforno pasta baked, and our out of town guest ordered grilled prawns. Steak was good: here's the thing- half was a bit dry and tough, and the other half was absolutely tender and succulent. I did send it back for another minute on the grill towards the end. Was it the preparation or is it just one of those things it being a natural product- I'm not sure. The baked pasta was the winner for the evening- Lovely mushroom, pasta and Cheesey. though could do with a little more cheese. The grilled prawns, were the most expensive thing on the menu but were a disappointment. Small prawns and nothing special. The mocktail we had is overrated - tasted like lemon twist for R40 (330ml). We entered at 5:30 on a weekday (the day school closed) and got the last table. When we left there was a long queue so be prepared to wait for a table especially in high season, as this place is really popular but too small. Service was decent though we did have to wait for our bill. Still our favourite place for a steak.
