The road all the way from Bhairawa to Lumbini is too dusty, primarily for the relaying that is going on and also for the general construction. This place seemed cleaner and less dustier than others so I walked in.Service was acceptable and food taste ok.Just a word...of advice ask the waiter what would be fresh and fast and order accordingly.Dont bother to see the menu.More

Today, after this one of a kind experience, I decided to start writing reviews for the places I eat at. So this morning I took the 6 hours long busride from Chitwan to Lumbini. I didnt have time to eat in the morning, so I...was really hungry when I arrived in Lumbini at around 15.00. I decided to go to a restaurant with a high score, as I wanted to have a really nice dinner. When I go to random local Nepalese restaurants they almost always boil the vegetables waaaaay too long, making them nutrient dead. This time I wanted to try a place with a hopefully decent cook. Lumbini city restaurants interior was better looking than what Im used to seeing in Nepal. I enjoyed the flowers, plants, and in general the effort. Its a nice place to eat. I was also surprised at the low prices. Usually a nicer looking place has higher prices. I ordered a cup of green tea with ginger and lemon, a vegetable tempura as appertizer, vegetable biryani as main course and banana in coconut syrup for desert. The appertizer and main course was recommended by the young man working there. (Who later disappeared). I also clearly told him no garlic, no onions and no green chili in the food. I repeated this many times, because the memories of people in this world are as good as gold fishes. After some time the tea arrived. Nothing to say about the tea. I drank it. It was like any other place. Then the awaited appertizer was served. I really loved the vegetable tempura with the orange chili dressing/dip for it. It tasted marvelous. After eating it I was really looking forward to the main course. I was almost drooling with anticipation. So I sat and waited... And waited... And waited.. And waited.. I could see the cook working and making the food in the kitchen. I could hear him cutting the vegetables, very slowly.. I was wondering what he was up to in there. Was he making food for me? Everytime I saw him moving, I thought: "Now hes done. Finally." But no.. He wasnt done. I patiently sat and waited with the flies occasionally landing on my body. "Sooo hungryy.. Foood.. Go away flies.. " As I tried to hit them. I was even in a bit of a hurry, because I was planing on doing a yoga practice later, and it has to be done on an empty stomach. But this was a test of patience.. In Buddhas birthtown Lumbini, it was happening. I could clearly see from my rising impatience that I was far from buddhahood. Instead I was going a little bit crazy.. I started walking around the restaurant.. It was only me in there. The other guy who was there when I came had left.. I went and leaned against the wall. Banging my head against it.. "When is he finished..God give me strength." I tried to be as zen as possible.. "No thought, only being.. Enjoy and accept this moment. It cannot be any other way than it is right now.." I went and sat down again. Wondering how this can be. I also had a few moments of complete peace. I was watching my mind racing, but still at times I felt so alive. A part of existence.. My phone was out of battery, so I had nothing else to do than sit. Then finally. As I was floating in the empty space of eternity, he came walking out of the kitchen carrying four plates. Finally! He brought the main course and the dessert at the same time.. I was almost crying.. Of happiness and of sadness, of anger, of irritation.. All feelings were boiling in me at the same time. I managed to say "Thank you.." very silently. Trying to hide my almost exploding feelings. I was thinking: "Dont yell at him.. No point in making him feel bad. Dont want him to suffer too." I looked at the watch.. Almost two hours had passed.. Two hours it took the food to finish... I looked at the food. It was orange rice with some vegetables and some kind of homemade dressing for it. With onions in it... "I said no onions.." I was thinking, while my head was almost exploding, but still very calm.. "How could it take two hours to make this rice dish.." I let it go, this time. I didnt want to yell or complain, I just wanted to eat, I was happy I finally could eat, I was so hungry.. And the cook looked too innocent and friendly.. How could I be angry at him.. I didnt want to make him sad. I started eating the rice.. At start it was allright, but I have to say that I was disappointed. It was a little dry and not super tasty. I ate it fast. I just wanted to finish eating it.. Not my type of a meal. The dressing was tasty, but there was so little of it. Then the dessert. Bananas in coconut syrup.. The bananas tasted like bananas.. Nothing special.. The coconut syrup was too salty.. Not tasty.. I didnt enjoy it.. I just gulped in all the food as fast as possible. I just wanted to leave.. When I finished.. I felt kind of let down.. I was hoping for a food orgie, but ended up with something like a forced and slow release with little pleasure. But I was still alive. Not completely broken. Not destroyed.. I paid the cook and left.. Just had to wait 10 minutes for him to find some change. I left wondering.. Where will I eat tomorrow.. Will I ever return to this place? The end .. Well the story continues.. But thats outside the restaurant. I give the place 3 stars. I give them 3 because they deserve a new chance. This story might help them improve. (I also dont want to drag down their rating too much). Make food with love, passion.. Food is a great gift.. I know you put great care in making the food. Im sure. Noone I ever met before has put so much time in cooking rice. I should be grateful that I was fed. I am grateful, but also a bit closer to a mental institution. Thank you for this experience. I will never forget it.More

This restaurant is far less frequented because it is about a 3 min walk from the main bazaar road. But well worth the walk! Amazing staff. Great variety of food. Comfortable and clean seating (no flies!!). Plus a deck for outside dining. Food is delicious....They even run a cooking school in the back!More
