The pancakes were delicious but the price to quantity ratio suggested that Harrie’s is making use of its name to over-price their goods. It’s perfect for European tourists who don’t know that they are paying R100 for a pancake that they could get for R20 at a pancake truck.
Harrie’s is always packed to the brim, be sure to make a booking the day before.

Right on the street, inside and out without any ambience. Seems uncomfortable, not a place to linger longer than necessary.
The pancakes were nothing special, the white waitress wasn't very courteous.
I don't know why this place has such good reviews.

The service was OK but it took a long time to get the waiter's attention.
The pancakes are very thick, almost like a waffle! I prefer a thin pancake.
Prices are quite steep for locals, they are definitely catering for the foreign tourist market, tourbus travellers.

Review for Harrie’s Pancakes in Graskop
My family and I visited Harrie’s Pancakes, and while the pancakes were average, the service was awful. We were offered cream or ice cream with our pancakes, which made it seem included, only to be charged R25 extra per ice cream.
It’s like ordering a steak and the waiter asks if I want mash or chips with it…I would not think I will get charged extra.
When I politely questioned this, the woman who seemed to be the owner or manger was cold and dismissive, with a condescending attitude that made it clear she didn’t care. Worse, as I was leaving after my enquiry, she and a staff member rudely commented about me behind my back.
This was such an easy situation for her to rectify, yet she chose to be rude instead. I really don’t understand why she would have such a bad attitude??
I should have taken my tip back—good manners clearly aren’t on the menu.

Stopped here with a bunch of 17 people to have pancakes.
Made reservations 4 hours before we arrived, place was quite crowdy but our reservation was met.
Vast list of food items on their menu, mostly pancakes, savory as well as sweet filling. Me and my wife ordered the pancakes with hot cherries, they were delicious.
It took about 20-25 minutes to be served which was quite acceptable regarding the member of clients at that time.
We also ordered two Irish coffees and can easily say that those were one of the best Irish coffees we have ever consumed. Prices were very good regarding the taste AND size of the served food. Can highly recommend this place !

We visited this branch on 3 Nov 21.
The women “sanitizing” menus do this without a mask.
The waiter wears her mask under her nose while constantly reaching over a person. I tried to sit back each time this happened, but she didn’t catch the signal.
I was looking forward to the pancake, with a filling of chicken, mushroom and cashew nuts, that’s what it says on the line item on the menu - BUT it came there with some chicken, a little mushroom & a whole lot of a creamy thick white sauce filled with ONIONS. On top there were sprinkles of dust resembling the cashew nuts. If onion was listed on the line item under ingredients, I would’ve never ordered this meal. They should really list what they put into meals / sauces. People have allergies!!!
Also make it comfortable for people entering your restaurant. Not properly adhering to covid regulations, doesn’t put one’s mind at ease!

Our organised tour stopped here for Sunday lunch. Not usually my choice of food but there was a wide choice of sweet or savoury pancakes. I chose the beef curry filling and washed it dow n with a locally brewed beer - fantastic! The rest of the party enjoyed theirs also = a big thumbs up

We were excited to stop for pancakes at Harrie's because it was previously a family tradition on holidays. Sadly it's not what it used to be... there is no character to the menu or the decor and we were all disappointed with what we ordered because the pancakes were doughy and bland - hence we decided to skip coffee and desserts and move on. We were also concerned because COVID protocols didn't seem to exist and our waitress had her mask hanging under her chin despite us wearing ours while ordering.

Absolutely recommended when you stay in Graskop. The menu includes both sweet and savory pancakes with surprising variants. We went for the biltong variant, the cheeseburger and chicken/mushroom/cashew nuts. All 3 of us were very satisfied with our choice. The service is smooth and hospitable.

This was recommended to me by a local as it had vegan options. Had lovely pancakes here. Explained I was vegan, they completely understood my needs and recommended some options to me. Plant milk available for tea as well. Quick friendly service, lovely pancakes. Wish I'd ordered 2 they were so good. Would definitely come back here and recommend this.

The actual building is very dilapidated inside and out with paint peeling from the ceiling and you get a general feeling of griminess.
When our chicken liver pancakes arrived, the livers were rubber and the creamy pepper sauce has the consistency of water which had made the pancake mush.
The manger told us that renovations are planned but those renovations need to include the kitchen because it seems to me that they are trading on reputation alone.

The Graskop Harry's pancakes are the original one of all the pancakes restaurants in South Africa.
The pancakes is only one, but it is stuffed with a lot of filling.
It is a bit expense, but worth it. We had great service, it was also really early in the morning before the December holiday rush.
Do it for the experience.

Over rated and over priced. What a disappointment. Given the reputation of this chain of niche stores we expected more. For the price of an average bottle of wine you get one overly thick pancake with average taste, served slowly by a clumsy waitress. 4 pancakes, same sad result. Never again.

We arrived for an early brunch and were met by a very unenthusiastic reception. Our waitress was polite and friendly but came across as being very bored with her job. A number of items listed on the menu turned out to be out of stock when we tried to order them.
However the food itself was ok. The pancakes themselves were very thick but were at least fluffy. The savory fillings we had were nice in an unexceptional way. Unexceptional at least until a hair was found in one of them on the second last bite!
No credit card facilities are available and to get to the nearest ATM you have to brave a horde of hawkers that don't take no for an answer.

We were at Harryś pancakes 10 years ago and looked forward to our favourite stop in Graskop.
After waiting 15 minutes I understood why it took so long because the served us a very thick pancake.
I do not know if there are new owners or why they changed their winning recipe from thin based to very thick.
