The menu seems ordinary, until you taste the food. The spices are subtle, but tastier. The boullabaise is far better than any in France. Everything tastes real. Real butter, real cream, good wine in the wine sauce. The restaurant is beautiful. The service is professional...and cheerful.More

Excellent restaurant with old world French charm! The service was outstanding - Tony and James and the maitre dee (Kay) were wonderful. The food is incredible. From the French onion soup to the roasted vegetable salad. And don’t miss the ice cream profiteroles - the...best dessert ever. The ambiance is wonderful with a beautiful dining room with lots of charm.More

I'd heard about Normandie Farm for years and I finally had a good excuse to travel an hour to try. Usually if we drive an hour, it is for a place I especially want to try (or know it is excellent) I am glad I...finally went but was so disappointed. Very dated, even in its food. Service fine, but it's a buffet. Buffet was not worth the $50 pp; $9 tiny mimosa was a mistake. If they were endless mimosas like most brunches, that wasn't offered or explained. Food wasn't bad, just wasn't wonderful. I wish them well since it is such a historic restaurant but I doubt I would return or recommend. Oh, and I make pop overs often, so I wasn't impressed. They are huge and I suppose impressive to most dinners.More

We celebrated our 55th anniversary with a private party in the garden room. Our private waiter was amazing, juggling drink orders and getting everyone seated for dinner. It all arrived hot, delicious, and perfectly cooked. It was an amazing evening and everyone had a fantastic...time, especially my husband and me!More

I've had bouillabaisse in Marseille and Juan les Pins. Normandie Farms is as good or better. There is no better service anywhere. Beautiful place, and music too.

This restaurant has been around for decades and a prominent part of Potomac Village. I originally dined here with my parents, and then with my wife. We had our wedding reception here. The food is good and the staff is wonderful. Whether you are dining...as a couple, family, or having an event here, you can't go wrong with Normandie FarmMore

Prior to the Stay at Home and takeaway orders, this was a great place to meet for a quiet meal and conversation. The front was a little noisy so we were escorted to seats in the back restaurant rooms. There was a bridal reception in...one of the rooms. The reception ended and we were able to have a quiet meal and conversation. The restaurant did not require us to leave as they were approaching closing and we stayed past closing enjoying our conversation. When the times are normal again, do travel there and enjoy.More

We decided to celebrate a birthday and went to Normandie Farm for a perfect meal. The popovers were the best we ever had. They were straight from the oven to our table. They sat us by the huge fireplace since it was still winter. We...had the special, widl rockfish stuffed with Crab Imperial, along with a William Hill Chardonay.. It turns out that the MD Governor closed all restaurants and bars on Monday. We just made it in time! We will order carryout from Normandie Farm for the actual birthday this Sunday.More

Like stepping back in time to a restaurant your parents would love, Normandie Farm is very traditional in what is served and how it looks. Service is a bit recalcitrant. My lamb shank was tough and artichokes very greasy. But the music! It featured a...band called "Last Call," offering traditional jazz standards. And the crowd loved it. Must go back for the jazz!More

Great Music , medíocre food ! Two Saturday’s ago went for dinner with my significant other . We requested the Marjorie Room because we wanted to have a 4 and half Star dinner and enjoy the live music. The good news is that the music...was a 10 Star . Wade Beach on piano playing with the great David Jernigan on bass and a fabulous drummer and equally awesome trumpet player . Bad news ; the dinner was mediocre at best totally not worth 4 and half stars ! I had a chicken dish that I could not even eat more than a couple of bites because it was so overcooked and insipid that it was inedible . Gil had a brochette that was equally insipid . I want to go back for the music but I’ll make sure that I eat elsewhere !!! Don’t know how it got four and a half stars !! Would give three for the outstanding music but one star for the food !!!!More

I contemplated ordering the fish and chips when I noted the l9nch menu online and somewhat reasonable price noted on the Normandie online site. Fish and chips is always a favorite of mine along with the malt vinegar. When I ordered off the menu at...the restaurant, the price was $3 more ($18 is way to much for fish and chips), but I still ordered at that price as I was with a group and di not want ot make an issue of it. The chips (fries) were good but the fish coating was quite soggy and the fish portion was quite small. The service was impeccable but could not make up for the not so impeccable fish and chips. Maybe I will stick to the fish and chips at Long Jonh Silvers!More

Normandie Farm offers an impressive buffet for brunch. The food is good, the atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the service is very good. Even though it was almost full for brunch, the ambient noise allowed for quiet conversation. Highly recommended. Normandie Farm is an...institution in Potomac, dating to 1931. It was a favorite of my mother in law, and she loved to convene the family there on special occasions, especially brunch on holidays. On our most recent visit after a hiatus of nearly a decade, we found that at least the brunch remains virtually unchanged since my first visit nearly 30 years ago. The “famous Popovers” are still delicious, and the menu remains familiar and staid, with traditional dishes, such as Beef Wellington and Lamb Shanks. The “rustic French” décor and high beamed ceilings disperse noise, enabling quiet conversations even in the bigger tables of the main dining room. Much of the clientele seemed to consist of families like us, who were celebrating some special occasion. Overall, the food is very good, especially for a buffet. The selection is amazing, with separate stations for appetizers, salads, eggs and omelets, main dishes (meats, poultry, fish), pancakes and waffles, pastries and breads, and deserts. The quality, though uneven, can be excellent. I really liked some of their salads, the smoked salmon, the eggs benedict, and the breads. The Crème Brûlée was quite good, as was the coffee and the Bloody Mary. The raw oysters and the bacon were good, but not among the best I’ve had. I did not visit the meat and fish table, nor the egg and omelet station, but those in our group who did seemed happy. The service was excellent: efficient, fast, and friendly.More

After reading all the reviews about the buffets here, my expectations were high and I was excited when told we were dining here for their Thanksgiving Buffet. Ugh, I should have known better. Or, as my cousin says, no expectations, no disappointments. We had to...wait 35 minutes for our tables, which was understandable due to our large party size. Immediately after being seated, we were served their infamous popovers. I have to admit, even not being a popover lover, these were excellent, and the highlight of the dinner, Yes, they had variety on the buffet, but to me, it was a crazy selection. Oysters and smoke salmon for the fish/seafood. Salads included mushroom, artichokes and hearts of palm, A cheese platter. Tomato slices with mozarella and basil, ocean spray cranberry sauce in a bowl, etc etc etc. Baked fish, veal marsala, lamb stew, carved beef, turkey in a pan, ham the same, eggs benedict ( at 6 pm????Buffet?) , Quiche lorraine( at 6 as well) etc etc. Desserts were your basic cakes, pies, rice pudding and creme brulee, none of which seemed to be homemade even if they were. Service was decent considering how busy they were. So now the low down. In a fine dining establishment I would expect a beef, ham and turkey carving station. Heck you can even find that at Golden Corral. Canned cranberry sauce?. Eggs benedict and quiche lorraine for dinner? Come on folks. Very disappointing, especially for $52 plus tax and tip. Fine dining? Definitely NOT.More
