After a 1.5hr walk across muddy fields we were really looking forward to a hearty lunch. We weren’t disappointed in the food interesting menu ,all four of us really enjoyed our chosen dishes. The chef needs to be congratulated. What did however disappoint was the...redesign of the pub and the lack of heating throughout. Being a December afternoon we thought there would be welcoming log burners as per their website, unfortunately they remained unlit. Being muddy we did the right thing snd removed our boots, but The pub lacks warmth and despite the hot food I was cold and uncomfortable and just wanted to eat and leave. This used to be a real cosy bar area with sofas and a fire, perfect fir walkers and their dogs. Now it’s more of a restaurant than a pub, and a cold one. 10/10 food 0/10 for comfort Such a shame , but easily improved uponMore

Very friendly atmosphere with well mannered and polite young staff. Husband started with scallops which were fresh and tasty. I had mussels in white wine sauce. Plenty for a starter. We followed with full roast beef dinner. Tasted like proper home cooked food. Too full...for desert so we shall be returning soon.More

Lovely old pub with very pleasant bar area. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of menu choice but recognise it was a November weekday. My partner chose the pie whilst I had Lincolnshire sausages. The pie was excellent, as was the gravy and...both meals were served with a nice selection of vegetables. But the sausages were bland and the mash was a congealed, glutinous lump. So, great place and surroundings but food really mixed.More

Met with family after recommendation. Very warm welcome, meals were amazing. The vegan roast tartlet was so flavoursome. The kids meals were fab, empty plates all round. Even brought our dog some dog biccys so he didn't feel left out when we had deserts. Best...pub meal out in ages. Will be back. Thsnk you to all the staff for a fantastic afternoon.More
