On our way from Cape Town to Namibia and sjoe but that road is long and straight. Not many places to stop for anything. But then we saw Oma Miemi's Cafe. What a surprise to find top quality coffee, freshly baked carrot cake - with proper cream cheese icing and my husband says the lamb pie was delicious. Definitely stopping there on our way back to stock up the freezer.

Recently re-opened and refurbished Oma Miemies is well worth a visit. We were welcomed by the new owner whose passion for this delightful cafe and bakery in Kenhardt was heart-warming. Delicious, freshly-baked cakes and pies, good coffee, interesting decor and goodies for sale and attentive staff make this a great place to stop.

What a gem to find in Bushmanland. From the coffee - Origin’s roast - to the carrot cake, pecan pie, brownie cake and of course the lamb pies, we have had a few delightful experiences at Oma Miemie’s. We made sure to come back to taste it all! It’s the perfect spot to spend a morning working, reading or chatting with delicious aromas and air conditioning. Many of their ingredients and all of their lovely preserves, leather bags and other goodies for sale are sourced locally.

After confirmation a few day before, Serieta assured us they where ready for us. When we arrived they battled to get the TV working, we confirmed that we would be having Dinner & Breakfast. Discovered the Restaurant was already closed down and the 2 rooms she has was also about to close down. She stuck us with 2 steaks, nothing with it, a dirty braai & utensils, not a single serviette, cloth spoon for tea or coffee. The most terrible experience in all our travels

When you next travel to Kenhardt, do yourself a favour and stop at Oma Miemie's. Not only do they serve the best lamb pies in the country, the homemade chutneys, cakes and goodies are delicious. But the best of all is the welcoming, homely feel created by the incredible people who work there.

We came to Kenhardt not knowing where we might find a place to have lunch. We spotted this charming place from across the road. The menu seems to be custom by day but we ordered the Roast of the day with mash and was blown away.Cant wait to bring friends and family back again.

We stopped at Oma Miemie Cafe and Bakery on our way to Upington. Best carrot cake that we ever had and the coffee was also very good. The visit exceeded our expectations. Well done!

We popped in at Oma Miemie's and REALLY enjoyed their lamb pies and excellent coffee. It was a hot afternoon so the air-conditioning was most appreciated too - a real oasis in the Karoo.

While on our motorcycle road trip through the Northern Cape, we came across Oma Miemies in Kenardt when looking for a Geocache. We popped in to see what they had to offer and were promptly whisked to their “photo-booth” for some memorable photos. A pretty place, well worth a visit when travelling through. Stop over for some real good home cooking and do buy their branded sauces. After brief rest, we headed out onto the Vanwyksvlei road(dirt) into the farm lands en-route to our next waypoint. Unfortunately, a momentary loss of talent resulted in a host of injuries, not to mention a sprained ankle, gouged fingers, a funky knee and some hectic bruising (not to mention a broken motorbike (56 kms from Kenardt). We were fortunate to have help getting my bike back to Kenhardt (a special thank you to the wonderful folks that assisted us) and arrived back at Oma Miemies to stay the night and try fix the bike. The help we received and the hospitality were amazing, Johan and xxxx wnt out of their way to make us as comfortable as they could. Johan supplied tools and bits and pieces for repairs – even a sewing kit for mending the bike gear. We were accommodated in their two rooms (accommodation is really nice, clean and tidy) Dinner that night was great too , with entertainment provided by Rocky and Tweety (a African Grey and Love Bird respectively). Sitting on the stoep eating dinner and chatting about all sorts of things – our hosts made the stay memorable and this definitely helped to raise the battered mood I had sustained and keep our trip moving on. When next in Kenhardt, please pop into Oma Miemies, have a meal, snap a few pics and chat – the hosts are wonderful folk – so spend a little time and enjoy. And get yourself a “I Love Oma Miemie” sticker while your at it. Our special thanks to you both for helping us – we so appreciate it!

Passed through on our roadtrip and enjoyed the hospitality, great coffee and milktart. Was lucky enough to buy a porcelain faced "Ouma" and "Oupa" couple sitting on a bench. If you spend some time, you will surely find something you like.

Interesting place with very friendly staff. We saw quite a few nice stuff and bought a one of kind knife. Had great soup on a relatively hot day. Worthwhile to stop.
