I pass through Pinehurst a few times a year on business. Their huckleberry milkshakes are a favorite and are sure to delight you. They know how to make a proper milkshake too so be patient while they whip it up.

I really enjoyed the burger from this place. I learned a lot about the area from the friendly people working and eating there. Enjoyed my time.

The locals say the burgers are good too but we only had the huckleberry shake which are yummy. We order smalls and quickly regretted not getting bigger sizes! We tried going back the next day but alas, they're closed on Sundays.

I live in this town and this is the only place to eat lunch. I forget about my past
bad experiences, so go for a taco or something and i am always disappointed. Currently, it's worse than ever. The caring owner seems to be out of the picture and the remaining help is struggling to make do. Today was the worst ever. Chicken tacos were made with chicken strips and nobody bothered to say that they were out of chicken breast until my order was placed. No flavor, no seasoning, just premade taco shells with lettuce tomato cheese and premade chicken strips. They have had to raise their prices so it's not cheap for burgers and fish sandwiches. They do have an extensive fountain menu and are nice about "puppy cones", so maybe that's OK, but I'd keep driving and go somewhere else for lunch.

YES! ....And it was AWESOME!
They even asked if we wanted country gravy (white) or brown gravy. It came as a dip sandwich and and my wife and I LOVED it! Wish more places offered this. And we were in onion ring heaven. These were fantastic! We loved the atmosphere, the conversation with guests and the employees. Very friendly. DON'T MISS THIS PLACE if you're passing through like we are.

Tried their huckleberry shake for the first time last month and it was so delicious, we have been back again two more times! The BLT to go was fresh and tasty along with great fries!

We came here because of great reputation of fries and shakes. Didn't know it was under new ownership.
Shakes were great but fries were soggy, chili cheeseburger was inedible, bacon on BLT was raw. We also made the mistake of eating outside and diesel smell was fairly constant. They forgot one of the burgers in our order.
Our bill for 4 people was $39. Not sure if we were overcharged or the place is overpriced for a place with tacky decor and bad food. We won't return.

From the outside you wouldn't think there was seating inside. There is, although it is limited, it is super cute! Chrome-based stools at an old school counter & also a couple of cozy booths. They serve burgers, shakes & fries which are all pretty good.

Absolutely the most horrible service I've ever had at any restaurant. A group of us arrived, I was the first to order. I ordered a simple burger (at my request, medium, not well done), fries and coke.. not rocket science. After a normal time, 15 minutes or so, they hollered out my name.
I grabbed my bag through the window, and for $12, it was surprisingly light. Extremely light. As I walk over to my table, I discover.... There's no burger. I go back to the window, the girl accused me of taking the burger out. After explaining how could I have possibly done that when I didn't even get to my table, she takes my bag back (with my fries in it) and puts it on the counter.
They take another 15 or so minutes...by this time, my friends are all done with their lunch waiting for me. They holler out my name again, put the burger in my bag WITH the fries that have now been sitting on their counter for 15 minutes.
At this point, I'm pissed. $12... and this kind of service?? I very blunty asked, "You're not seriously going to give me back my cold, soggy fries are you?" And this girl looked me square in the eye and said if I didn't like them I could bring them back.
At this point, I took one, and yep, cold and soggy, threw the bag back through the window and told her she could just keep them.
And the burger was well done... not medium as I had request.
I'm an older, grey haired, normally quite patient, individual. I can honestly say I've NEVER, EVER been treated so rudely at any eating establishment in my life, and I hope this serves as a warning to any who may travel through that town and think "Oh gee, what a nice looking little burger stand".

Tall Pine is a great overall restaurant. Their taco salads are my absolute favorite and you always get great service. I love taking my daughter their on hot summer days for ice cream and to sit outside and enjoy the weather. A definite must if you have kiddos, they will love their ice cream.
