Early Dinner with the Family

Have not been here in a very long time due to a bad experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal this time round. I shared a platter for 2 which was great. The prawns were cooked to perfection and the calamari was soft. We will be going back again when next in town.

Good seafood, delishous sushi.... Service from kim was above standard! Alcohol prices ridiculously expensive R272 for 4 double gin and tonics

Service not up to standard

We often enjoy dinner at Ocean Basket Lephalale but last Friday the service was poor and slow. Our waitress once the food was delivered disappeared and even her colleagues could not find her, we had to order from another waiter and then only got half our drinks. The other drinks only arrive when the first people who got their drinks glasses were empty. We had to go to the till to get the bill and pay.

Fresh Seafood makes for a relaxed evening in the bush

With the cool spray mist on the veranda's and the excellent service, an evening at Lephalale's Ocean basket is a welcome break from the bush veld heat. The creamy salmon soup and fresh sushi is amazing for starters, and the grilled kingklip is my favorite.

Who says you cant do fish in the bush

I think Ellisras has a permanant heatwave, so any place that you can get some great food and a cold drink is a God-send. The food is really good, we only really went for starters as we had eaten earlier, but the selection and quality was great. What we really liked were the cocktails and the wine..... its been a while since I spent that much on cocktails but the girls loved the variety so much, they just had to try them all. Staff was really friendly and the place is nice and clean (and the air-con works a charm too) Great place.

Certainly glad that we stopped!

We were travelling from South Africa to Botswana and our son-in-law had recommended that we stop here on the way - and we were certainly glad that we did. Two of us had tilapia and chips and the rest had hake and chips. We had a variety of desserts, including ice cream, and it was great! Certainly glad that we stopped. Sorry that we didn't get more photographs! The guy who served us was very good - but the food was the star. Ocean Basket is a good chain in this region - we were only sorry that we did not get a chance to return during our stay. At 888 Rand for five or us (about £53), it was great value for money too!

Great value for money

Friendly staff, great service and food. The seating outside is nice and everybody can enjoy the lovely open air while kids play safely on the play park.

Seafood always nice

Nice environment for the evening, friendly staff, nice food. We did no straw and one of the staff knew about disadvantages of straws! Hope Ocean Basket find a way to decrease food waste, one is the hot green pepper they bring with bread before main food, that many people don’t use it and I heard it goes to rubbish!

Excellent food and flavours

First time to SA and I love fish. So we had a great choice from the menu. I had fritters to start which were delish and a big portion. Sea bass for main course with healthy roasted veg and sweet potato. Everything was fresh and presented beautifully.

When I arrived the evening I was concerned about the parking as there were several Bakkies and worried that it might be packed inside. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered and there was ample space. Nice quiet atmosphere. Good service. I've been to at least 15 different Ocean Basket's and this one was just as nice as its counter parts across South Africa.

Looking for an excellent seafood dish. Lephalale Ocean Basket will knock your socks off. The food is fantastic and always fresh. The servers are super friendly and always aim to please. Nice and clean and pleasant and good value for money. Always a pleasure to dine there. Well done Ocean Basket.
