The View Café is located next to a fabulous hand-made Zulu craft Curio shop. The view from its veranda is outstanding. Food is fairly good, though simple. The staff were particularly kind and professional.

Had lunch at The View Cafe recently. Wow, what a view. The place has a quaint charm, overlooking the rolling hills. It has an indoor and outdoor seating area. We had their burgers, and were pleasantly surprised. The service was very friendly and genuine. Definitely worth popping in when you're in this area.

The view Cafe has a great range of delicious pancakes and a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The view out over the Valley of a Thousand Hills is amazing.

Apart from the wonderful view (even if there is mist) the View Cafew is my most favourite restaurant. Absolutely love the pancakes especially the milk tart one. And oh boy the scones I had last month were super. My husband loves their Burgers. And I have been known to have a milk tart pancake and then follow it with oion rings 😀. If anyone is looking for a new place to go and relax (and take your fur baby too) The View Cafe is the place to go.

I went up to The View Cafe because the reviews were so good. I wanted to try their much raved about pancakes but I prefer savoury to sweet. I settled on a Thai Curry pancake. The pancake was cold, chewy and crisp on the edges, and the filling was more like a glutinous (as in thickened with flour) chicken a la king. There was no trace of a Thai flavour whatsoever. The salad was a tired couple of pieces of lettuce, a couple of baby tomatoes, dried cucumber and no dressing. I also had a cappuccino which was bitter - possibly made from brewed coffee rather than fresh grounds. Overall a rather old fashioned menu (unless you are into milkshakes and mince toasties) and definitely not worth the 30km trip from Durban.

Absolutely AMAZING food and great service from Shaun. This is a rustic venue with the emphasis on relaxation with its breathtakingly beautiful view and soul food. Conversation flows with everyone radiating peace and relaxation after taking in the amazing views. The meals are generously portioned, full of flavour. I highly recommend this venue. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Do not go here. What a disgusting joke of a place. I have been here before in the past and would have praised it. Arrived with my family and it was empty and looked a little run down. Against my better judgment I stayed, because in the past it was great. Coffees arrived, one with a hair in it. Asked if the Bobootie was toasted, was given a poor reply. Drinks took ages. Food took even longer. Then the order was wrong. No apology. I went to the toilet and wish I had not. After seeing inside I just felt sick to eat there. Food was disgusting. Disgusting. Must be a potato famine because I literally had a small handful of greasy revolting chips. Dirty, run down, poor food and even worse service Avoid, avoid, avoid Who ever has ruined this restaurant should not attempt another. Gross

This is my first negative review I have ever written as I always seek to find the reasons to compliment any establishment. There is no way this experience can be reviewed in a positive light, the service was shocking and the young staff have not been equipped to manage customers. Moreover the management did not attempt to address the customers and every table was complaining. Such a pity as the setting is perfect for an absolutely wonderful meal with a view.

It's under new management at this gorgeous hillside cafe on top of Durban and they are kicking goals! Super friendly and caring service, incredible views, lovely rustic setting plus great food and drinks. Visiting from Australia we were very happy to stumble upon this little gem! Recommended :)
