We stopped for lunch. The waitress was NOT happy to have to work on Saturday and was NOT the most personable (she should have stayed home!). It took FOREVER to get our drink orders (espresso, smoothy?). She DID finally take our order..in the meantime more...people came in an the cook came out to help. While we were there they turned away at least a dozen people...telling them it would be 40 to 60 minutes wait. One couple left without getting their smoothies (although they DID order them???). Our lunch FINALLY came (1.5 hrs after we arrived) and it was delicious but we knew it was going to be a production for the family of 12 that came in AFTER us ..and the people right after us were complaining that they only got their appetizers after and hour????More
We stopped here after attempting to go to the Subway across the street. We walked in at 2:57 pm and they close at 3. They were super helpful in allowing us to still order and was very kind to us when they could of easily...turned us away. We got our food to go and we were pleasantly surprised to find the food was quite good and the price was comparable to Subway. We enjoyed our sandwiches and fries!More
This is probably the best restaurant in Rangely, if you have breakfast. We ate here several time during our 10 day stay. They were frequently out of menu items. Breakfasts were consistently good, other items...not so much.
We were heading for the Subway originally but found it out of business and so opted for the Main Street cafe across the road.
Let's start with the food because that is the main element. I went for a cafe Burger and it was large...and tasty for a lunchtime snack. Came with fries and was quite a plate full.
My wife was looking at the soup and sandwich option but only wanted the sandwich and so ordered a cheese and ham on wheat. It came toasted which wasn't a problem.
All in all an enjoyable experience with the food but.......
I have to say that the service was slow and sporadic but there was only one guy on his own running about five tables. We got our drinks after about 15 minutes waiting but not an issue, the bit that got us was two elements.
First the soup and sarnie option cost $8 and we had the sandwich only which cost $8.50 because the cheddar and ham were extras apparently. Only $1.50 so let's not get hung up.
Second aspect was a family of three who entered the shop at 14:05 (with the open sign still displayed) were told to sit anywhere free by the server and he would be with them as soon as possible. After much in and out to the kitchen he finally approached then at 14:24 and advised that the place closed at 2pm and he was unable to take their order. I must say they took it a lot better than we did because we were appalled at leaving them that long before telling them no food available and there was a Mexican place further along town that would be still serving (no idea if they liked Mexican or not) but if that had been me I would have been livid.
So moral of the story is:-
Only order what is on the menu (kept at far end of serving bar because after ten minutes I had to go and pick one up for us) and get there early!!!!More
We had an unsatisfactory experience here, due to poor service, but I do not blame the people working there for that; rather, the problem was the employee(s) who weren't there. Apparently the cook called in sick and could not be replaced, leaving the two people...on the floor (who were pleasant and hard-working enough) to cover both the tables and the kitchen. This didn't turn out well, and we waited forever for our lunch as a result. When it finally came, it wasn't bad; my rueben was quite acceptable, and my wife's club sandwich, while somewhat oddly prepared (great huge clump of turkey in the middle of the bread, not spread out), tasted OK as well. It just shouldn't have taken an hour-plus to make this very simple meal. Again, I don't blame the employees who were there; they were doing the best they could. But a fill-in cook is really needed. Rangely is a small town, and such a person may be hard to find, but the effort should be made.More
Their bacon is tasty, but that is all. The over medium eggs had runny whites. The hash browns were mushy and the English muffins had a horrible taste. The total on this with coffee was about $25. Go to the next town for breakfast!
The poor guy did the best he could but he was a one man show and he was slammed. If you travel through or stay in Rangely this is the place to eat. Our breakfast was excellent. My wife ordered off the senor menu and...her omelet was perfect. My cowboy scramble was also very good. They even give senors a discount. Love this place.More
Passing through Rangely en route to Carbondale, CO, we spotted the Main Street Coffee House. It’s nicely done on the inside, but not too fancy. Also, don’t let the lack of a fancy sign outdoors, or fancy awnings fool you. Our server was super sweet...and seemed to know when to ask us if we needed something else, without being annoying. I ordered the Grilled Cheese on Rye (a nice, wonderful marble rye, as it turns out) with Tomato Soup; my sweetheart ordered the BLT with Onion Rings. Oh. Yum. First of all, when you order a grilled cheese, you get choices, on the cheese as well as the bread. I chose Colby. The sandwich was simply fabulous and indulgent while maintaining a “down home” feel. The tomato soup was luscious, creamy, well seasoned, delicious. Perfect! The BLT was simpler, with nice thick bacon, lettuce, mayo, tomato, but my sweetheart enjoyed it immensely. The onion rings are the real deal, my opinion. Dipped in a batter that does not break off, and onions that stay inside the ring when you bite into them. Definitely recommend this place whether you’re passing through town, or planning a stay.More
