This has been our favorite breakfast place while at North Shore Tahoe- We arrived shortly after opening and there was a fairly large line waiting to be seated. The people on front of us were a group of 6 and started chit chatting to the host about where she used to work, does she have a twin sister, blah, blah blah . In the meantime the line was getting longer. The hostess did not cut the conversation short and thought I was crazy for complaining. It is EXTREMELY RUDE and not good business to ignore the fact that MANY people were waiting to be seated while she carried on a personal conversation!!

My husband and I enjoyed an “ok” meal at Spindleshanks. We ordered the grilled artichoke. It came smothered in butter, tomato and garlic. Kind of like an artichoke bruschetta. It was good, but oh so garlicky. Dinner was fish and lamb. Both proteins were tasty, but the potato side on each dish was luke warm. It’s like they make the main dish fresh and then just grab a pre-made potato patty to add something to the dish. Other tables seemed to be enjoying a tasty burger and fries. And some other tables enjoyed large salads. The desserts looked good, but the one we chose was not available so we left without finishing with something sweet.

Spindleshanks is the first restaurant we visit when in the Lake Tahoe area. Their deck is huge with several areas...some sunny, some shady, some heated. We both got burgers this time, and they were delicious as always. But their Caesar salad with chicken is excellent, so are their fish tacos, as well as everything else. I’ve never had a bad meal there. My friends LOVE their breakfasts. If you are from the old times in Tahoe, you will remember it down the road a bit.

The food is of good quality; however the service and professionalism is something else! Hosted a rehearsal dinner for 17 on a Thursday night; had 3 conversations with management prior to the event. We had one dedicated deck set up with 2-tops due to COVID. The first entree came out 40 minutes before the last were delivered (that night's special Halibut). Even people at one table had up to 35 minutes difference in delivery of food. Waiter failed to keep the wine glasses poured. When asking about the delay, was told, "We've only got two people in the kitchen." Waiter constantly touching his hair. When I called a few days later and spoke to Helen to say I was disappointed, she raised her voice at me and said, "What did you expect? You didn't set up a banquet so you shouldn't expect the food would be delivered at the same time. I was running around taking care of everyone else! You could have booked a room at the Hyatt and paid 4 times as much!" I'm not one to raise my voice when making a complaint and am still scratching my head at Helen's treatment. If she even acknowledged that maybe service was a little slow, that would have gone a long way. Like I said the food was okay, but do not book a large party or expect professional service.

We made a reservation for 8, upon getting there, nothing was set up or ready. Took 20 min to get seated. Another 20 to order, another 20 just for bread. Was not happy about all the wait times. Then saw a table get their dinner after being sat for only 15 minutes... :-( The calamari was not cooked correctly in either the app or the linguine. Both butter nut squashes were cold.... most of our dinners were really not edible. When the waiter asked, we expressed our concerns and it went over his head and he really didnt care. We were never asked if we wanted more cocktails or anything. They did refill the water. For over $400, we wont return.

You wrote a review for Spindleshanks 4 hours ago 5.0 star rating1/29/2023 I love this restaurant. Went with friends last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hostess gave us a spectacular table with a lake view. Staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. I had the trout which was delicious. Opted out of the mashed potatoes and had extra spinach. Melt in your mouth delishousness! Hubby had butternut squash ravioli which he loved. One friend had swordfish which was cooked to perfection. The salads were incredible too. I have been to Spindlehshanks when the food was meh. The owners have really stepped up their food and every item is a winner. Will keep going back as long as they'll have us.

We had a fantastic dinner here! The cocktails were delicious, the warm ciabatta was a great start, and we all loved our entrees. We had the salad special with arugula, hazelnuts and candied pears. For our mains we ordered the filet with truffle butter (perfectly medium rare), pork schnitzel, ribeye, and short rib. The sides of potato gratin, mashed potatoes and vegetables were all excellent. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was pure Tahoe . We will definitely be back!

First time here. Stopped in for lunch. Had a $18 French dip that had soggy falling apart bread and only a couple pieces of meat in it and that’s it. I ordered a side salad in place of French fries and it was definitely not worth the money. Salad was wilted and and warm. My bill was over $30 for the mediocre food and a bottle of sparkling water. Won’t be back. Went to dinner at the steak house inside the Crystal Bay casino and paid $25 for a delicious meal!!! When thinking about the comparison it’s funny.

My wife and I went there for dinner and it was outstanding! My wife had the grouper and I had the pork chop. We finished it with the dark chocolate and cherry gelato. The meal could not have been better! I suspect that this place is even better in warm weather when you can eat outside.

Didn't take a picture of the food because I couldn't control myself after looking at it! I have to say the food took some time to come, but as they say good food takes time.. The menu has a lot of options and we were six people who ordered six different dishes.. Each was better than the other.. At the end of it we were so so full because the portions are generous.. We were happy and satisfied.. A round of coffee later, we paid a bill of 180 dollars without gratuity. So it's not a cheap place for sure. But it's an experience to be there and eat that food.. Totally worthwhile . Also easy to locate.. Right opposite kings beach..

So disappointed as we’ve been here a few times, but our most recent visit was horrible. The service was SO slow, I don’t think our waiter took our order for about an hour. And, the food was mediocre at best. The outside patio is nice, just make sure and bring a jacket or sweater as it gets chilly as the night goes on.

We had brunch at this place when we stayed in the Kings Beach area. There weren’t any places open for breakfast as we were there in the middle of the week, but we were so happy we found this place. They opened at 10am. The waffles and berries and eggs benedict were yummy!! Great location with a view of the lake if you sit outside.

We enjoyed a nice brunch on the patio overlooking the golf course. Service was okay. VERY CAUTIOUS about covid! Borderline rude if you tried to walk inside to ask a question even though wearing masks.

Had a girls’ lunch here recently and was shocked to find ourselves almost the only customers in the restaurant. Have eaten here several times, food is always delicious. Service is very friendly and prompt. Not sure why they aren’t more popular except it is winter in the Sierras but I highly recommend it. Would definitely eat here again
