Went there to celebrate a friend's 89 birthday. His favorite Japanese restaurant. Place was full of happy respectful dinners for dinner. We were greeted and felt welcomed right away. The quest of honor brought a lovely bottle of wine.Corkage was $10.Very reasonable for Sonom County. He ordered...their small boat of sushi that was for two but was a pleasure for the four of us.We also shared their special of yellow fin tuna.We also shared an appetizer of fried callemare with a very tasty sauce. Also with miso soup and a small salad.
Went to Sushiko twice within two weeks, once for dinner and once for lunch. My spouse had sushi both time & I had tempura for dinner & tempura and cha-su buns for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The sushi was good and the tempura...was very good, not greasy & very crispy. The cha-su buns were outstanding, the best “fusion” buns I’ve had! The service is good, there is ample parking and the prices are reasonable. Definitely we’ll be coming back the next time we come out to Graton Casino.More
My wife and I were in Rohnert Park, Ca to visit our grand children and wanted a Japanese restaurant close to our hotel. My son recommended Sushiko. What a pleasant surprise. The dishes were well prepared, tasty and surprisingly larger than we're use to. Everything...was excellent. No complaints from us, just a great meal. They were very busy, so reservations are recommended.More

After reading both Trip Advisor and YELP reviews I could not wait to try what was described by one as "An unknown hidden gem". Sushiko is located in a shopping center with some retail stores. I did not think to call for a reservation and...expected a restaurant of less stature and physical appearance along the lines of a "fast food place".
I was very surprised to discover on arriving at 5:30 on a Saturday that the place was packed with an estimated one hour waiting list for a table. Loud tables of happy looking diners enjoying the big platters of sushi rolls that looked like works of art with very colorful decorative garnish. Although tempura and teriyaki are offered, the rolls are what one goes there for.
There is a very flashy menu of photos of each roll offered with descriptions and everything looks delicious.......However, was I and my two dining partners disappointed.
We started with two of their appetizers, the Takoyaki which was a deep fried ball filled with a very pasty filling and a tiny morsel of what was supposed to be a piece of octopus. This was very boring and bland and then pasty texture a turnoff. The other appetizer was the vegetable pot stickers. Out they came and they looked really good. Upon biting into it I enjoyed the crispy texture of the wonton type skin and the flavors of the sauce and spices that were on the outside. But the inside was complete mush...again a pasty filling with no hint of a vegetable.
We also tried the shrimp tempura ( the worst we have ever tried). it was very greasy with a few very undernourished anemic shrimp and a couple of sad looking vegetables.
The two rolls ordered were very similar looking in appearance and blindfolded, one would not be able to taste much difference in the flavors or textures.
I am glad that this place can attract an endless line of diners who are willing to wait for an hour only to sit down to a meal of hype ; all smoke, mirrors and show. Perhaps the fact that the prices are very reasonable outweighs the need for true good quality tasty sushi rolls.More
Kudos: Very appetizing-thumbs up for presentation. Miso soup, rice and tea, first rate. Tasteful decor, pleasant service. My husband was happy with his teriyaki beef.
Not my favorite: I wasn’t a fan of the soft shelled crab sushi. Did not the flavor I was used...to.More
