We enjoyed this creative, tasty dish. By the way, it's large enough to share with someone else, too. Service ios friendly and efficient. We bought some lovely looking croissants, too, and will be enjoying them soon. The internet

This was our second visit to Girard Gourmet. We haven't tried their meal items, but have found their bakery treats to be delicious. The price adds up very quickly though! Once again we were accosted by the strange man that wanders up and down the...street, propositioning women. I remember him from the last time we were here, so he must be a local. I was not amused by his offer of "an easy lay" especially since I had my teen daughters with me. Come on, La Jolla, in this day and age, how is this okay?More

Omg! The best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had! I got the fancy roast beef with peppers and had it toasted. It was huge abs tasty. For some reason they close at 5pm, but they were nice enough to stay open for the 15 people...that arrived at 5:30pm. I highly recommend this place!More

Lovely place. Good food, nice workers. No restroom though which I found weird. A random guy goes up and down the street, catcalling women which is unpleasant, so watch out for that. Nice cookies.

Stopped in as we were walking the streets of La Jolla. It was a pleasant surprise. The lamb stew was very good and gluten free. Service was very good and employees were very friendly. There were a lot of selections for lunch and for dessert....The chocolate chip cookies were ok. There were plenty of dessert selections that would be nice to try. Only downside is there is an extra fee for credit card usage. Very cute place and worth the stop.More

My husband and I shared the grilled turkey pesto sandwich with a side of Mac & Cheese. Both hit the spot on a chilly February afternoon. We were quickly served but it was after 3:00 so I assume it can get busy around lunch. Fresh...bread and ingredients make for delicious eating. The case was filled with yummy and fresh looking dinner items to take out..We will definitely go back during our stay here in La Jolla. Coffee and water were self serve and it was all very tidy.More

A local recommended this place as we were looking for lunch options during a quick visit to La Jolla to see the sea lions at the Children’s Pool beach. It was delicious and the whole family truly enjoyed a nice home cooked type meal.

Years ago we had an extended stay in San Diego and for a variety of reasons ended up taking out food from Girard Gourmet instead of having fast foods at various destinations to which we drove. We ordered turkey/tuna/roast beef sandwiches/on sourdough/french rolls and it...was delicious and had many different side dishes (enjoyed em). We used an ice chest and that was lunch many days. . .we were VERY happy. We loved their cookies so much. . .you can see them in the window daily. . .that even though they were expensive we bought a bunch and gave them to people who looked after things back home as a travel gift. Everything except the service was excellent/excellent/excellent. Our update isn't quite as positive because instead of sticking with things we'd had before. . .we tried new things. . .and since we arrived early in the day, everything was SUPPOSEDLY freshly baked or prepared that morning. Reluctantly, we will tell you that the chicken pot pie was AVERAGE, the salad with Avocado and Mangoes was only okay because instead of some kind of LETTUCE, the greenery was some kind of weird god knows what that looked like a shrub-twiggy and unpleasant. And the cookies---although they promised they were fresh baked that morning. . . they were hard and stale...Maybe what they did is change ingredients relating to the frosting/icing making it harder than last time. . .they didnt look overcooked. . .but the cookies were still lemony . . but hard and just not that good. We didn't buy any sandwiches or French bread which had been amazing, so we cant tell you if was the same or some ingredient change. However, the service was friendly and very cordial this time versus last time....the place wasn't as crazy busy as last time . . .and sadly the outdoor atmosphere was degraded. . .Homeless/unbathed men were seated on the public benches nearby and the cafe tables were populated not by customers but by old San Diegans and their caretakers and their small dogs. . . Now we are animal lovers. . .but between the homeless and the little dogs doing their business. . .it was not pleasant smell wise. Hate to negative. . .and only visited once this stay. . . so maybe it was just a really really off day. . . but. . . there you have it.More

Have you tried to CALL them? They're a very small place, so I wouldn't expect a lot of flexibility, but if you order in advance they may be able to accommodate you.
