While in SoCal, Fleming's is always our special event restaurant. And, it never fails. We went to celebrate my wife's 59th anniversary of coming from Germany to America. My wife ordered a bottle of her favorite wine, Hess Chardonnay. Our spot on server, Shanna M,...came back to inform us, after searching the wine "cellar" that they didn't have any on site. Jacob, the manager came over to apologize and offered a more upscale wine for the same price. We accepted and he was right - the Freemark Abbey Chard was wonderful. When our great meal was over, Jacob brought two glasses of Champagne to celebrate - a nice touch. This place knows how to treat their guests thanks to personnel such as Shanna M and Manager Jacob. The entire staff is well trained and personable. We highly recommend Fleming's Steakhouse in La Jolla.More

When I called to reserve they asked if we were celebrating a “special occasion:” Well, today is my b-day - June 22 - but it didn’t matter to Fleming’s (I don’t know why they even bother to ask.). Our server was worse than Halley’s Comet...(came around only when we asked her colleagues to fetch her.) The server “helpers” were like zombies: said “yes” to everything we requested (ice, water, salt) but never brought anything. It’s frustrating paying “high end” and receiving “low end.”More

My girlfriend and I intended to have Thanksgiving lunch here. As COVID-19 was rampant, our reservation was for outside dining at 2:30pm. It was an unmitigated disaster. Customers were milling around, waiting to be seated and when we were eventually seated, we were next to...a large party who had a dog with them. The dog harassed me several times before I asked to be reseated. Due to health reasons, I'm surprised that Fleming's allowed customers to bring their dogs. We both ordered the turkey dinner at $53 per head but didn't receive our starters until 3:40pm. The lobster bisque turned out to be the best item on the limited menu. When the turkey arrived we were both disappointed with the presentation of the meal. Just thrown together and the turkey leg looked like roadkill. It reminded me of the turkey legs you get at Disney World. The side dishes were nothing to brag about and the cranberry sauce was extremely watery. The two desserts offered was nothing we cared for. What happened to pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving? With the long wait, poor presentation and exorbitant prices, it was obvious that Fleming's clearly overwhelmed by the crowds and COVID-19 didn't help matters. Easily the worst Thanksgiving meal my companionand I have ever experienced. Even though a manager gave us a discount it was little compensation for a bad experience. Will never eat here again.More

Absolutely excellent dinner. Micheal provided perfect service and even congratulated us on our special event: my son’s first communion. We started with the burrata appetizer it was good. The bread and butter is not to be missed. They have a great kids menu, the kids...were very happy! We both had the filet mignon which was perfectly cooked. I added the lobster tail which was delicious. The kids desserts were more than enough. The mushroom side was great and my hubby loved the Mac n cheese. The tables are spaced out and there is hand sanitizer everywhere. It was a perfect night!!More

Service at the bar was outstanding. Main filet was done to perfection. Hard to get Pittsburgh medium rare right but they did. Beats Eddie V’s hands down. Fleming salad is nothing special. I wouldn’t order it. Can’t remember the last time I had iceberg lettuce...in anything but a wedge! Wine selection by the glass is excellent. Cheesecake is overpriced but delicious.More

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The last three visits, however, have not quite been up to par. The first visit of the three I made the mistake of ordering the new special. They used to offer a fantastic prime rib special...on Sunday. They changed it to some kind of beef medallion. It was awful and not even worth the somewhat discounted price. The next visit of the three was much better. I had the 8oz filet and it was very good, but not quite as good as some other steaks I’ve had elsewhere. The final visit was this week. My kids were visiting from out of town so I wanted to take them to a really nice place. Unfortunately my 11oz filet was not good at all. It came out undercooked. I sent it back to get rid of some of the blood. It took longer than I’d hope - everyone else was eating as I waited. When it came back it was just not right. The internal color was good but it was tough and didn’t have that great filet taste. The sides and salads were good though. The bill was north of $700 for 7 people so it wasn’t exactly what I’d call an inexpensive meal. The point is this: you will spend big dollars to eat here. For that much money one should expect a lot. Service is good. Food is good. Ambiance is very good. But, at $100 per head WITHOUT wine, I expect great. I get great at a lower price at another steakhouse that is closer to where I live so I’ll be going there. Too bad because I really used to enjoy going here.More

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at Fleming's. It was very nice. We ordered1 Petite Filet, 1 Bone in Ribeye, Diablo Shrimp Fleming's potatoes, 1 baked potato, 1 glass of wine, 1 Manhattan, 2 martinis, and a large bottle of Pellegrino. The total without...the tip was 240.28. Pretty expensive. My husband's shrimp and Ribeye was 75.00, so there you go..anyhow-it was a good experience. I would return.More

This was one of my favorite restaurants and over the last year we have visited twice the first time the strip sirloin steak was very hard and the potato was brought to the table 15 minutes after the main course-so we decided to give it...another chance and went again -the service was excellent but the food was mediocre to say the least and after spending almost $500 for four people there was no wow factor and definitely not worth the money we paid -I feel they have lost their direction and at these prices I do not recommend going here again-It looks like they are just after corporate money for corporate events and Will and have lost the small family businessMore
