My experience at Mastro's Costa Mesa was absolutely delightful, all thanks to Shashona R. I had reserved a private dining room, and she ensured that every detail was taken care of before our arrival. Shashona's professionalism and prompt responsiveness to my inquiries truly stood out....As expected, the food at Mastro's was exceptional, as always, and the evening was made even more enjoyable by the friendly staff. Mastro's is undeniably a fantastic choice for hosting a special event, and their consistently incredible food makes it a foolproof option.More

My son and I love this spot! We go there a couple of times each year during my summer vacation. We always sit at the bar and get a very intimate service from the bartenders. The steaks are excellent. My son had pork chop that...was delicious! Looking forward to my return!More

The food is good. If that is all you care about, you are all set. Be prepared to not have an overall pleasant dining experience. Mastro's is no longer a strong brand name. The regional manager Patrick B. has changed the dress code from upscale...to allowing any baseball cap, tee shirts and shorts at any of his locations.I am sure jerseys and tank tops are next. You will feel like you are at Joe's Crabshack but with a $1k bill for 4. For a better overall experience why not try Vaca, Flemings, Eddie V's., Ruth's Chris or The Ranch to name a few. Goodbye Mastro's.More

My wife’s birthday dinner! Superb service and impeccable accommodations. Food was cut and prepared for my daughters so I was able to enjoy my dinner. There was some scotch drink gimmick that I fell for, some type of flight, taste testing challenge. My Girls enjoyed...the dinner as did my wife also. Costly but delicious!More

We are beyond disappointed in Mastros for a variety of reasons. Unless you are 95 years old OR your taste buds no longer work I would suggest going to a better and more quality restaurant... Like WATER GRILL right across the street. We received a...gift card from an employer 4-5 years ago and finally found time (and energy) to use our gift card. After checking in and ordering two drinks that came to $50+ we were told that our $150 gift card only had $.50 CENTS left on it. After the manager did some research, we were then told that our gift card was fraudulently used at a Mastro's in Florida the month prior (despite being purchased at this Costa Mesa location). We were upset but figured that Mastro's would handle the situation appropriately by providing a new gift card or at least crediting our meal the $150 (our meal was going to be $300+). Instead the GM came by and said that there was nothing that they could do to help, and passed along a 800# to file a complaint. He said that this "happens all the time" with their gift cards and that they would not credit our meal for the amount that was originally on the card. Unreal actually.... Mastro's has steaks that are $150 each and they cannot honor a gift card that was fraudulently used (probably by someone in-house) for that amount? The food and drinks are both subpar and there are SO many better options in the area to choose from. If we didn't have the gift card we would have never come in the first place. The GM had zero ounce of professionalism and was very rude to my husband and I who are both local to Costa Mesa. We have shared our feedback with all of our local friends and will not ever be back (even if we get a new card).More

Went with my girlfriend to the Beverly Hills location on a Saturday night. A place this expensive should not be crowding people in like they are. It was so crowded and loud. Also they should have more of a dress code. Looked like a tourist...trap where few people of actual class and means would ever dine. Some guys were in sloppy jeans and gang looking clothes. The prices on food are out of hand. Food was ok, but when you’re paying 70 bucks for a steak they should at least throw you a vegetable or potato without soaking you for another 15-20 bucks. Drinks were good and strong and large and were between $17 and $23 for cocktails and the martinis were the best value. The food was decent but no better than say Texas Roadhouse BBQ. Apps were way overpriced. If you’re going to charge like that, then present something worth the money. None of it, food, atmosphere, decor, view was worth it. And it wasn’t romantic at all. Take your girl out somewhere else and give your money to a place that’s at least making an effort.More

It was so good I went back the next night!! Excellent steaks, great bar service! The dress code isn’t as tight as advertised. You can be a little more relaxed at the bar. The bartender informed me that T shirts are certainly unacceptable, as they should...be!More

We visited Mastro's Costa Mesa on Aug 6, 2022 for a repeat visit. The service was great. Waiters were informed, friendly, prompt and checked in without being obtrusive. The salads were fine. The filet was prepared perfectly and was exactly as expected. But, the 22oz...bone-in ribeye was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. It was full of gristle which made it mostly inedible. It wasn't even easy to cut with a steak knife. Among the reasons to go to a steakhouse like is Mastro's is for the experience and a delicious, perfectly prepared steak. Sadly, my steak was anything but.More

Very good food and lovely interior. A bit dark on the interior and pricey out the door, but a very special place loved by many.

We sat at the bar. Devon ended up being our bartender. He was negligent. Ignored us for customers sitting right next to us. So obvious. Worst experience here to date. This was my birthday and it’s a very expensive meal. We are long standing customers...customers. It was my birthday. I’m going to share my viewpoint. This was discrimination. Black against white. Devon is black. He was so obviously disrespectful. Seems this is the norm now. Manager tried to make this right. We appreciate that. And Sarah was wonderful.More

Beautiful atmosphere and excellent bartenders. However the clientele was less than par. Dress code was not enforced. So lots of hip hop street wear and beach attire. Service was great but the Tomahawk steak was terribly cooked. Sent food back 3 times and chef still...could not get it right. Over priced for poor culinary skills.More

I had high expectations, had never been there before! The food was horrible! My husband loves steak and he could hardly eat it! (To the tune of $67!). My Chilean Seabass was only soso! (To the tune of $58!). Squeezing lemon on it made it...ok! Served with no sauce or garnishes! after a $22 martini, 2 glasses of ok wine, two side dishes to share, four people, no appetizer nor dessert, the bill was upwards of $400! Will never return!More

We didn’t yet hit our 90 minute time limit. Lights came on. Music stopped. My husband played a great selection on his phone until we finished our $400 plus wine and our dessert and coffee arrived. To add to the hospitality the ladies room had...a dozen half used toilet paper roles under the sinks and clearly had no attention for a while with paper towels filling waste baskets .The elevator certificate expired in May 2019. The servers were awesome and made the evening. The food was excellent . Cooked perfectly and was delicious. The outdoor dining was perfect. We will return for our server and the waitstaff. I will take the stairs. And ensure that to keep the ambience not order dessert or coffee. Especially when seated late.More

Since Covid we have been ordering their 22 bone in Rib eyes togo. They include the rub and directions. We cast iron pan sear them and then finish in the oven and they are perfect everytime. Better quality than you can buy in any grocery...including Costco. Definitely worth the price $45. Its a deal.More
