From the very first day, we enjoyed eating at Amalthea restaurant every day. The food is delicious, full of variety and suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans as well. From traditional Greek cuisine to international meals, the ingredients are always fresh and high in quality. The staff is very friendly, hospitable, attentive and hardworking. We especially enjoyed chatting with Michael each day - he gave us helpful tips on what to do in the area as well as the recommendation to try
Mamos beer! We can genuinely recommend this place to everyone visiting Crete and the wonderful Alianthos Garden Hotel.

We have booked a half-board vacation with the Alianthos Garden Hotel in August 2023 and both breakfast and dinner are just delicious. The experience is a delight for all senses: the chef takes care to offer many different kinds of food, the variety is amazing, the eye will be delighted by the combination of colors, the food smells delicious and the staff is extremely kind, polite and helpful. Always with a smile.
I am writing this review on 15th of August and there is even live music for the celebration of Holy Mary ☺️
I would highly recommend. I cannot comment on the prices for food but for the dinner you would have to pay for the drinks: 3,8€/0,75l water, 4,2€/0,5l draft beer, 4€/0,3l home made lemonade. 1 glas of wine 4,5-5,5€

Thanks a lot to Alianthos Garden Hotel and Amalthea Restaurant!!
We enjoyed a pleasant stay and fantastic vacation! (12 nights, half board).
The room was clean and comfortable. Anyway, we’d like to suggest to exchange the shower curtain with a glas door or something like that.
We especially want to commend the Amalthea restaurant! The food, no matter wether breakfast or dinner, was always delicious and showed a great variety from the local Cretan and Greek cuisine. We especially want to thank the Restaurant team (Christoforos, Georgia, Mironas, Tzanetos and Niki) for your accomodating, kind and attentive service. Thanks as well to chef Zakis and bartender Dimitris for your everyday jokes and your viral smiles! Each of you made our holiday special and memorable!!
When visiting Crete next time, we‘ll definitely stay at Alianthos Garden again!

Amalthea restaurant has a overall wonderful atmosphere. You can sit inside, if you want to avoid wind or sun, or sit outside close to the swimming pool, enjoying the sun in the morning or a sunset sky in the evening.

The staff is very friendly, helpful, attentive and makes you feel welcome! Many of them are open for a small talk, giving recommendations about local places to visit or just talking and joking around in general. They do a great job, which adds a lot to the overall nice and welcome atmosphere. They speak very well English and some of them even German. We especially got along very well with waiters like Renata, Ami, Niki, Poly and Myron. Thank you so much!

The cook and staff always took very well care of me because of the gluten intolerance, providing me with glutenfree breakfast in the morning, and informing me about what I can eat safely at the dinner buffet. The chef always made sure that I had enough dishes to eat, even cooking freshly glutenfree dishes for me, so it was 100% safe.

The food in general was amazing and there always was a huge variety for what to eat, also regarding vegetarian and vegan options. You have different options for creating a salad of your liking, different kinds of meat and vegetables everyday, and a high variety in desserts ranging from cake to ice cream. No one leaves this place still being hungry!
I would totally recommend Amalthea restaurant to everyone, as you'll definately find something you'd like to eat everyday, plus it will taste delicious, as well! :)

I was amazed to see the sheer variety of fine and at the same time sophisticated presented traditional dishes. Definitely better than what I tried in the different Tavernas on the see side, and those were very good too.
Something that I have to mention is the very friendly personnel - open and ready for a local recommendation, small talk or even a traditional dance. You quickly get to love this people.

The morning and evening buffets were so tasty.
And the service as in general in this Hotel is very good.
I loved the original barley bread and the variety of dishes. Everything is fresh and you will love it regardless if you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat lover.

We spent 10 days vacation in the hotel Alianthos Garden and were particularly impressed by the food in the Amalthea restaurant. A very courteous service and daily changing dishes. The local cocktails should definitely be tried!

The selection is super diverse and super tasty which is great. All meals are even labeled with ingredients. For people with intolerances it would be great to also have lables for onions and maybe have special foods for people with lactose/fructose sensibility. The service is superior and we felt the warmth of the people and felt very welcome. We definitely recommend this place!

We visited Amalthea restaurant for dinner every night during our 1 week holiday in Plakias. The variety as well as quality of the food in the buffet is great! The Cretan and Greek cuisine dishes are super tasty, well-cooked, nicely and neatly presented! Kids' corner contains special dishes every day.
Special credit to the personnel for the great service, politeness and assistance in anything we needed.
All in all, we enjoyed every single evening we had at Amalthea restaurant and we definitely recommend it!

Amazing food, super fresh and local ingredients, delicious! Rich bouffet for evening and morning with great variety of Cretan and Mediterranean food, meat and fish, salads, cheese, sweets, fruits, types of bread etc, flavourful and super nice cooking activities that take place! Many vegetarian and vegan options! Congratulations to the hotel, chef and his team! Super friendly and nice staff, always with a smile and super kind and really hospitable!.
We really enjoyed it and we would love to come back when in south Crete.
Also lovely area overlooking the pool, super clean, very relaxed atmosphere and high guality in everything! Dont miss the entertainment nights like the Greek nights which we really enjoyed! We still have the deslicious food in our memory after our trip! We will definately come back!

We einjoyed our two weeks stay in Alianthos Garden and we will never forget the great service, cleaning and chats with the staff :)
From the moment we arrived to our departure we felt the welcoming atmosphere and the joy and passion of every staff member.
The greek night is one to remember! The staff always put a smile on our faces and made our stay even more unforgettable.

We went here already three times and they kept changing the menu. Every time it was great! We loved the graviera breaded turkey, the tender veal, the lamb chops and many more. Also there is a big variety of starters to mix and try. 😊
You can sit inside and outside, but if you have a special wish I recommend making a reservation, as it can get quite busy.

We spent 9 days in Alianthos Garden Hotel and we can say that this is a hi quality service! Everything was organized to please the guests. The waiters were the kindest waiters we have ever seen. Everybody is smiling, welcoming! The verity of food is great: so many meals, so many desserts and fruits. We could taste a lot of Greek specialties.
This restaurant is just highly recommended for anybody who stays in Plakias.

The food was outstanding and there were plenty of dishes to choose from the buffet: all i tried was really tasty and of high quality.
Allergy sufferers don‘t need to worry because everything is labeled.
The staff is friendly, courteous and very attentive. Great restaurant & hotel!

This is our first time visiting the island and we love it. The staff was very organized and also very polite and welcoming. They thought of everything and made these days very enjoyable. The food was excellent. There was everything for vegetarians and for meat eaters. They kept the room clean. What we also liked is that the staff like the waiter recommended some activities we could do while we’re here, for what we are grateful. All in all we recommend it a 100% if you’re looking for a more quiet but beautiful place.
