Once we discovered Candia we never went anywhere else for our morning and after dinner coffee. Very good quality, a relatively good price (€2.50 for a cappuccino) and a very friendly owner and waiters who are clearly proud of their coffee. They also serve all kind of pastry.

We usually pop in for a sit down, have a drink or two and possibly the odd cake. Love just watching the world pass you bye as you look across at the sea. Service is superb. Nothing is too much trouble.

Conveniently located underneath my hotel, perfect place for morning coffee. I came every day of my holiday. The owner and his daughter are very nice, most other customers were locals. Amazing selection of cakes and pastries changing every day. Nice views out to the sea.

Despicable place, racist waiter, used to yell at customers, prevents going to the bathroom below a certain amount. The worst service I've ever seen in all of Greece. To be avoided at all costs.

I had an unusual and disappointing experience at this place. I was enjoying my coffee and working on my laptop when, out of nowhere, the barista started yelling at me: "Put your bag down, now! You are sitting here with just one coffee for so many hours." I was both surprised and shocked by his outburst.
Rather than asking me politely to leave, he chose to be rude and confrontational. I decided to gather my things and leave immediately. When I went to pay for my coffee, which cost 3 euros, he sarcastically remarked, "Wow, I made a killing out of you! Thank you so much and have a nice day!"
I understand that coffee shops have bills to pay and rely on customer turnover, but his behavior was completely uncalled for. Most coffee shops in the area have similar prices, usually between 5-10 euros per order, and yet manage to treat their customers with respect.
In conclusion, if you decide to visit that place, please make sure to consume as much as you can, as it seems they really need the money. There are many other coffee shops in the area that offer a much nicer atmosphere and friendlier service.

Been recently taken over and refurbished .all very nice but sadly don't get the large glass of hot latte that I used to love. It's still very nice and priced same as most other cafes in Plakias. Prices everywhere gone up since last year and coffee twice as much as we've found away from holiday spots.
However I would certainly recommend here. Very clean with pleasant staff . Good spot to spend a bit of time with a good even if smaller latte!!

Have been coming to Plakias but only discovered this gem on our current holiday. Right on the Main Street overlooking the sea and beach, it’s an ideal place to have one of their ice creams, and really relax and enjoy your surroundings. The service is excellent and the attention to detail is exceptional. An example is if you have one of their cheese pies, the knife and fork come wrapped neatly in a napkin, held together with a small plastic tie. It may not sound much but it shows the level of service. We’ll definitely becoming back to the Candia and would recommend others to give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Great coffee, great service! While entering waiter immediately offered us all a glass of mountain water. We ordered a beautiful 3 layers Latte Macchiato and Frappe with Ice cream. Delicious!

The view is unbeatable - you see the Libyan Sea through a few "false pepper trees".
The Greek coffee is exactly what it is supposed to be. I asked if I could get a few drops of fresh milk in my Greek Sketo and sure no problem, it was even remembered when I revisited. Most other places would like at me like I am a mad women! (maybe I am a bit). I also had a few cappuccino - well made.
Now here is something I m not that proud of; the cakes, I couldn't resist, the cakes are irresistible, they not only look delicious they are definitely baked by a pastry chef - yes I know these things! I ate too many.
Together with every cup of coffee you get water as well + a cookie or two and they are also most definitely baked by a baker, in fact they taste just like my mum's (I'm 67).
The owners and the staff are all so friendly and helpful.
I cannot recommend this café enough.

Very good coffee shop in the centre of the beach front road, serves excellent coffee, cakes, baklava etc. A popular place mid morning, sometimes difficult to get an outside table, but that is where you need to be watch the comings and goings of Plakias.
