I have visited plakias several times over the last 10 years, and by far my favorite meal is the lamb chops at Minoiko. The lemon sauce is delicious, and the chops are always tender and of high quality. That said, I have had other dishes here, mainly because my friends make fun of the fact I always order the lamb chops here. Everything on their menu is really good, and my vegan/vegetarian friends also love the food they usually get. The interior decor is very homey, I wish I could purchase some of the items they have on display. Lastly the service is always top notch.

We were referred to this family style restaurant by locals. It is up a side street & removed from the more touristy restaurants on the seaside. After two weeks of being in Crete, I would have to say that this restaurant was in the top 2 place we ate. We don't usually order too much pork in Greece, but the pork roast dish was amazing - very moist with a fantastic seasoning. It was so good we just had to ask our half English/half Greek waiter (Spiros I think his name was) to meet the chef. She came out and admitted that she had been perfecting this dish for 20 years! My lamb was also an outstanding work of perfect Greek cuisine. It really does not get much better than this.

Great food is wonderful Cretan hospitality

We had dinner three times in this quaint little place, located in an inner street of Pkakias. It is run by two young, friendly and dear boys. She excellent hostess, he more shy and reserved. No need to rush because the spirit is that of the true Cretan tavern. The clientele is not exactly touristy, perhaps because the place is a bit secluded and not on the sea. The culinary offer is vast and not obvious. Traditional dishes, fish and meat cooked with skillful skill. More than generous portions, delicious food. Excellent saganaki, grilled octopus and lamb chops. Unbeatable quality price and truly competitive costs.. Tonight, then, in addition to the usual small entreè, the small yogurt dessert and a delicious homemade limoncello, we were also offered wine. The delicious confirmation of that care that only Cretan hospitality can offer.. We will recommend the place to all our friends who decide to spend part of their holidays in southern Crete and, if we return, we would not fail to visit this lovely place .. thank you very much.

Still great menu choices

Minoiko was always the best taverna just off the coast road in Plakias for quality and menu choices. Usually hard to get a front row table without reserving ahead, which we did. Maybe we chose badly this time but apart from the gorgeous prawns in creamy ouzo sauce, the mains were a bit dried up (Beef Stamna) and bony (Mix grill). The meat was good quality but a bit of a fight compared to cuts in other tavernas.

Very nice restaurant

In our two week holiday with friends in Plakias we three times had dinner in Minoiko and every time food was very good. Very friendly, hard working staff. I had a well tasting pasta and also good grilled lamb chops. At the end of the last evening we had a nice chat with the friendly waiter. If one day we go back to Plakias we sure will have dinner here again

Very nice little restaurant in Plakias

Very nice, small and lovingly decorated family-run restaurant. All positive criteria. It was the first time I've been there, and I've been there three times now: the food was always really good! My friends agree. Prices are OK too. Nice owners. For dessert, all guests get a free limoncello and a small sweet. I'm very happy there, I'll definitely go again! 😎

Cozy restaurant.

Nice restaurant. Good atmosphere. Cool interior. Friendly service, but unfortunately our mixed grill of meat was somewhat disappointing. Not that the quality was bad, but we didn't like the taste of the meatballs and sausages that much. However, I would not recommend this restaurant for that reason.

Small family tavern with lots of charm. Good Greek down to earth cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service and good value for money. The prawns are particularly recommended flambéed in ouzo. We visited a lot of taverns during our 14 day holiday and we were drawn here very often. Always happy to.

Very cozy restaurant in a street slightly away from the boulevard. Ate 3 times in 1 week, delicious dishes from the oven, just like grandma makes them. The meat falls off the bone. Lovely people who welcome you hospitably.

This place looks and taste amazing. I used to coming here with my family since I was a child, now i came with my husband and it reminded me the old good days. The food is yummy, everything taste fresh and the service is extremely friendly! You should visit Minoiko everytime you are coming to Crete!

Still the best lam in town

We will recommend this Tavarnaki. It is a nice quiet place whith funny and nice waiters. Try the lam with spaghetti or the lovely minoian salat. The snapper is also very good tasty. We come back next year. Jytte and Karsten from Denmark

Great traditional Greek food

A real champion of Greek and local produce. Have been coming to Plakias for years. And this was the most authentic meal we’ve had to date. It’s always busy in there, which is a great sign. Very friendly waiter. Can’t wait to go back.

Surprising and very attractive restaurant. This nice restaurant is located just behind the main road. The food was delicious. Friendly service. Price good. But also very nicely decorated. We would definitely like to come back here again!
