Sirocco is a traditional Cretan taverna located in Plakias right next to the beach with wonderful sea view. It is a family run taverna with great atmosphere, exceptional and friendly service. Ours guests can enjoy a variety of unique Cretan tastes and all kinds of wine in very reasonable prices.The location of Sirocco taverna in Plakias is ideal for our guests to enjoy their meals away from the noise of the down-town with the amazing view of the sunset over the bay of Plakias.

We had spent a week in rethymo and then moved over to Plakias and thus was the best food we had eaten.
The staff were so friendly.
The restaurant a modern taverna.
The menu varied but not overly so
The food was fresh, well presented and really tasty.
The view over the sea means you can watch the sunset over the rocks.
A must go to.

The food was just perfect! they serve proper cretan food but with a slightly modern twist; not too fatty, and e.g. small bits of carrots with the octopus salad; rosemary/orange with the marinated ansjovies; The reviews were good, but we found the food even better. Location is perfect of course, service good and friendly. The only minus we could find was the fresh calamari, they fried them because they were small, but they should have been grilled. The restaurant alone is a reason to go to Plakias.

We visited here and enjoyed a lovely meal.
We had the 'Sea Urchins' off the specials boards as a starter as we had never tried these and wondered what they were like, luckily had some bread left and used this to eat them with, they were nice not "wow lovely" but nice and now I know what they taste like so was a good experience :-).
I had lamb chops and my wife had Chicken Schnitzel alacrema, both of these were lovely (the Chicken was really nice) we had complimentary fruit and of course Raki to end the meal.
Would definitely recommend this place, the staff were friendly and the food ( and views) were very good.

One of my first , and fondest, memories of Plakias is of eating Sea Bass (λαβράκι) at Siroco, on my first 'full' visit in '95 (was brought here by mistake in '94, but that's another story).
Seafood has always been excellent, went slightly downhill following a change of ownership quite a few years ago, still OK, but... Now back in my 'top three'. Excellent food and service, the owner (I assume he is, at least), is quite a character!
As an aside, almost, it is also very comfortable to eat here if one is going solo. I ate here on my first two nights during my recent stay.

My girlfriend and me had a great time at Scirocco. The staff is super friendly and the food was great. We had the most popular ordered dish (chicken in cream sauce). I had the lamb chops and they where really good, I would absolutely recommend them.
I would also recommend going here, absolutely no complains and I would definitely come here again.

Best food on our whole trip and reasonably priced. We had 4 starters (shrimp saganaki, oven potatoes, fried feta, cheese bread) and can recommend each one highly, especially the shrimp saganaki. Staff was very friendly. View over the bay is lovely.

This is not your average tavern.
The food here is absolutely delicious and we would come to eat here everyday if we could.
What we had:
- for appetizers, we had the 2 saganaki's: shrimp and eggplant; they both had the same sauce, only the main ingredient was different... and it was the best saganaki I ate in a long time! Besides the feta cheese, the tomato sauce also had many cooked vegetables, such as peppers and onion... the taste was just divine! It was also a little spicy, so keep that in mind;
- the main dishes:
the mussels in wine sauce were cooked just right and you could taste the wine from the sauce, very delicious dish;
their Sirocco salad is absolutely amazing, you have to try it if you're craving for a salad; it has so many ingredients, including figues;
the fish of the day was cooked just perfect, not dry at all and very tasty... that's because they grill it on a gas oven, not wood... they have perfect control of the temperature and the result is exactly what it should be; they also brought a special sauce, which was really good and went well with the fish; I believe the fish was the red snapper, although they called it the white bream;
The waiter politely asked if we prefer for him to open up the fish or if we want to do it ourselves. We accepted him to do it and he did a good job in removing most of the bones.
At the end, they brought us a complementary fruit plate.
We also tried Brink's, their local Rethymno beer, one blonde and one dark beer. They were actually very good, both me and my girlfriend enjoyed it.
I'm not very good at describing beers but they had a light and enjoyable aromatic taste, which we found very interesting. We liked the dark beer a little more :)
There are plenty of parking spaces near the tavern, either on the side of the street, or in designated free parking spaces next to the road.

We didn t like that there happened a mixup with our booking . We ended up at a table which was not on the seafront road as we had asked for because lthe evening was really hot and humid. The service was decent. Very good organic house wine. We had a very good salad(scirocco) saganaki fried graviera local yellow cheese, chickpea fava,stuffed vine leaves dolmadakia and grilled tuna fish fillet. We paid 55 -60 euros.

This is one the best restaurant due to the fact that you are sitting on the first line to the beach plus the food is at high quality 🔥🔥
I ate 1kg of lamb chops and it was amazing .
FYI, the chops are local from Plakias which makes it even better.
Also the service was amazing and friendly so you can experience Cretan hospitality at its best !!
Do not forget at the end to raise a toast of raki.

One of 2 restaurants that really stands out in the area. The food is fantastic and so fresh (no microwaves here), the owner and staff so kind and friendly, beautiful views and a great wine list with some genuinely special Cretan wines. Order whatever fresh fish is on the daily specials.

This is our second year visiting Plakias, and once again, this restaurant has exceeded our expectations in every way possible. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality.
The food is simply outstanding. Every dish is a perfect blend of flavors and freshness, showcasing the best of local cuisine.
The atmosphere is equally inviting.

Something quite different. This is not your standard greek eaterie but a great restaurant with a very different menu, though greek but do not look for souvlakis or gyros here. We had tuna carpaccio and pork a la creme today with my husband. The tuna salad on the next table looked huge and appetizing. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff is incredible - they are really professional. Hugely recommend. Went there today at 8 pm and were lucky to find a table! It is a very popular restaurant here .

We ate in a number of restaurants in Plakias during our 7 day stay. Sirocco was our favourite and we returned a few times.... food tadty, great variety and vg quality. Atmosphere fun and enjoyable with good banter with staff. Amazing views of the bay!

Best place in Plakias for having dinner. Great variety of cretan specials and fresh grilled fish. Gianni and his Team are very friendly and supportive. I always had a great time there enjoying delightful dinner

The food is very fresh. As starters we had fried mushrooms and saganaki. Both beautiful and tasty. For our mains we had chicken a la creme and a peppered steak. The mushroom sauce with the chicken was perfect. Portions are big here so we couldn’t finish them.
