In september we had a two week holiday with friends and in this period we had dinner at Manousos three times and we were very satisfied with it. The wait staff consisted only of very friendly women. The restaurant had an attractive decor and most important: food was very good. They serve a well tasting pasta and of course also a lot of Greek specialties. Our friends also were happy with our dinners over there. I can sure recommend Manousos for dinner

Beautiful taverna set in a quiet street just off the main beach road surrounded by gorgeous flowers. We had dinner three times here over the duration of our holiday and the food was delicious every time. We both agreed the food was the best of any place we ate. Elias the waiter was very welcoming and deserves a special mention, as does the BBQ chef. You will not get better value either. You get a complimentary small appetiser and dessert included and we were also given ouzo or limoncello after our meal. You MUST eat here. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Excellent food, excellent staff and very fair prices. The fish of the day was so good, the mousaka tasted wonderfully and homemade. The staff was very polite and caring, they changed things in the menu to satisfy the children needs.

This place is not at all well-organized and the two waitresses are clearly overworked, the poor girls were running around trying to work out which order goes where in a full restaurant. It was miserable to look at. At the end of the meal some of us were still hungry since the lamb was all bone and no meat. We waited at least 20 minutes trying to get the waitresses’ attention in order to see the dessert menu. Then we waited another 20 minutes but no one came to ask about our desserts. Finally we managed to ask for the bill so we could leave the place after two hours. Please don’t waste your precious holiday time in this restaurant.

Having visiting Plakias for many years, we have visited Manousos taverna and was always very pleased with the food but not the attention of the service.

So now this years visit we thought we would visit again, with the resort & restaurants very much suffering from lack of numbers. Which was the case in Manousos taverna.
But unfortunately we experienced the same nice food and a 20 minute wait for the bill.

We chose this place because of the good reviews but it turned out to be a mistake. First we waited for the menu, then for the water we ordered, then for the dishes which were brought at different times and finally on the bill. The food is ok but it's not worth wasting so much time waiting for everything. I've been to many tavernas in the area and we've NEVER waited so long. Waitresses worked as if without a fixed plan complete lack of organization. A small snack you get at the beginning is later added to the bill. I do not recommend this place due to the long waiting time.

Title sounds a bit corny but it really is. It's tucked away behind the main promenade road and not so obvious, but this adds to its charm. Well laid out and quite tranquil. Place has a real 'family feel' to it. Very good.
I always go here for grilled food when in Plakias. They do lovely souvlakis, that sort of thing. I don't think I've missed at least one visit here, and usually more, in many years visiting Plakias.
Usually visit with company, but last year, and this, I was alone. I'm used to eating alone when travelling on business, which I do quite extensively, but I'm still a little fussy about where. I am perfectly happy 'going solo' here!

Not particularly good food, one person in the party got the food after everyone else as they missed a dish even though they read out the entire order. Warm beer. We did not get a good feeling from this tavern and will not return.

The taverna has an amazing athmosphere with its beautiful plants and trees and with no distrubing music. The service is high quality, you can feel the professionalism. We tried grilled dishes and I have to say all of them were amazingly tasty and well-cooked. The portions are generous. And their home-made drinks are something else! 😍 A perfect spot for enjoying the Greek gastronomy and hospitality. Great spot for dates and small gatherings, or just for a glass of wine. I loved it!

Beautiful courtyard, professional yet friendly service.
I don't often write so passionately but the food I tried was the most delicious during our entire vacation. Both the starters with feta in foil, the burgers, the seafood pasta but the highlight was the Cretan pasta, I read someone who found it indifferent, for me it is one of the best pastas I have eaten in Greece and that with a price close to 10 euros . And for her alone it is worth visiting.

It remains further inland than the tourist taverns of the seafront but has a nice garden where to eat. We had saganaki vegetables ( I look like Chinese spring rolls , they did not excite us ) , a good chicken rollee and grilled anchovies , good in flavor but in small quantities for the price at which they were offered . Good white wine of the house.

This restaurant is a proper gem - unfortunately, it took us a while to discover, otherwise we would have come there many more times. The specials - changing often - included fresh fish (very generous portions), lamb, beef, and other tasty Cretan meals to discover. It is located a block from the seaside itself, in a garden with magnolia and fig trees, making it quiet and comfortable: very different from busy and quick seaside places. The staff was very friendly and helpful: ready to give advice on the recipes and to accommodate lactose intolerance. Our number one choice in Plakias

Restaurant very friendly, away from the restaurants of the seafront and therefore more intimate, very cute.
Very good dishes, for once the portions are not gargantuan, at least on the dishes ordered, and this is a point that we liked. The garlic bread offered at the beginning of the meal is delicious and goes perfectly with the dishes. (Cretan salad and chicken fillet with a yogurt/mustard/feta/spice sauce)
I had local white wine by the glass and it was very good.

Overall - good food, bad service. The food is great, grilled chicken was spot on, the rabbit was great, all the side dishes were well done as well. The problem is service - they seem to be missing 2 waiters. The gap between getting the menu and someone coming to take your order is way to long, same with getting the bill. I ordered something extra mid dinner and is simply never arrived. At least once you manage to get your main order in it arrived very quickly. Prices were reasonable - comparable to similar tavernas in the area.

Our experience is slow working staff likely due to full restaurant and few staff. One waiter for drinks only seems strange. Other very busy waiter for food. Food served after 44 min, not very good. Lamb chops were lamb but no chops, yet good. My wifes pasta adequate, no more.
