This is the only restaurant that we went to twice on this holiday! It wasn’t for the amazing food (though we did enjoy the food)) but more for the overall experience.
The setting is great as with so many in this area. But Nikos, our waiter and the nephew of the owner, bent over backwards to ensure our experience was a good one. We consulted him on our food choices as they hadn’t been altogether successful so far on our holiday. He helped us by pointing out what we could expect. He advised on what was fresh, what was frozen, what might be tough (apparently according to how the animals are reared) and what would be tender. On our first visit, we over-ordered, but on the second visit we did better.
On the first night we loved the mixed starter plate (ate too much of it!) , didn’t like the snails (not like France!) and enjoyed the moussaka. On the second visit I LOVED the swordfish and my husband liked some of his mixed fish plate. We didn’t order a starter as we learned from the first time!!
On both occasions we enjoyed the free ‘amuse Boucher ’, the delicious water melon after the main course and free ouzo instead of the ubiquitous raki which we really don’t like!! This was the first restaurant we’d been to that offered us ouzo as an alternative,
All in all, we just really enjoyed the atmosphere and service we received at this restaurant. We would advise asking for advice on what’s good and fresh that evening. And it’s great value for money!

Had a lovely meal here tonight.
We started with complimentary breads and Tomatoe then Garlic bread and Saganaki, followed by Moussaka, then complimentary Water Melon and Raki.
Never had Cheese Saganki or Moussaka and both were lovely.
The staff were friendly and quick to attend.
All in all a lovely traditional greek meal.
Thankyou :-)

Initial visit was for lunch and attracted by the rabbit stiffado on the board outside which unfortunately was not available so opted for the veal stiffado instead, my wife and daughter shared grilled sardines and a Greek salad- all were excellent and we enjoyed the company of Mike (Michaelis?) (owner?) who comes from the next village and speaks good english. We returned a few nights later for dinner and enjoyed lamb psito, my wife dorado and my daughter veal stiffado. Again all excellent with the usual appetisers and Mike's own raki and small (thankfully) delicious complementary deserts. Enjoyed the conviviality of Mike and Dimitrius who also speaks good english.
Highly recommended and will definitely be visiting again !

Always busy and despite previous holidays in Plakias, somehow we never tried Gorgona until now. We chose the fish platter for two, filling enough but the fish were a little bland. Not bad but not great either in comparison to other fish on this holiday.
Reason for the four stars is mainly the service, the lady from Ukraine was very good in English and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.

We had dolmadakia and saganaki for starters, which were very tasty. However, the main dishes were very disappointing. My wife ordered the spaghetti gorgona (with seafood), but the shrimps didn't get the intestines removed. I ordered the veal stiffado (with onion and tomatoes), but instead of veal, a very red beef arrived with just a very light, orange colored watery tomato sauce... The waiter was very sorry for the spaghetti since my wife couldn't eat them, but no gesture was made. While the waiter was very friendly, we cannot understand how this place can be anything else than a quick touristic stop. Much better options around.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here last week during a riad trip across to Plakias as recommended to us by one of the staff at our hotel in Scaleta. We were visiting on a somewhat windy afternoon but the food was delicious and we could not have asked for more, the food, service and prices were all amazing and if visiting Crete again we would certainly return again and recommend to friends and family. This restaurant is run by 4 daughters and it is authentic food and flavours, we ate Pork Souvalaki and a fish platter which could not be faulted, plus drinks and only €31 for both meals.

The best taverna in Plakias, ever!!
We were searching for a good restaurant to eat at after a long day of swimming, walking and exploring the beauty of Crete. With previous experience of having eaten in Plakias before, we were not expecting to be exponentially impressed by the food. But we were wrong!
The food was absolutely spectacular! The fish was tender, and crispy. You could tell it was fresh, and cooked perfectly, with the seasoning adding an additional flavor without being overbearing.
The meat was very tender, and slid off the fork as you ate, my daughter, who is very picky on her food, being a chef herself, didn’t leave even a piece for the rest of the table to try!
It is very worth it to come here, fresh ingredients, savory food, and friendly waiters who you can tell care.
Don’t fret, try this family-owned, one of a kind taverna!!

We tried this Taverba on our arrival day.
The location is perfect with often good available seats.
The Menu is quite large with classic and Cretan meals.
The welcome and services was just awesome, one of the best we had.
The food, instead, is very standard and some of the meals as tge Octopus are not at tge expected level, even for a low price.
Idem for the wine with no bottles but generic wine.
In short, goodto eat fast but not very tasty.

We had a very special experience today at Gorgona’s. The food was so fresh, tasty, and tender. We had salads, stifado, chicken, dolmathes, and onthous. If you want delicious local cuisine in a happening town, you must visit Gorgona’s.

Good fresh fish, simple cuisine. At my request, they were kind enough to prepare my fish to be ready to eat. Vegetables served cooked like barbecue with vinegar fillet, a little acidic like that for me.
Mixed grill, meat mix not great, a bit sickening.
Waiter and waitress very kind, attentive and smiling.

Enjoyed our meal here tonight. Garlic bread and Saganaki to start, I had Lamb Kleftiko and wife had Chicken Souvlaki, washed down with Retsina and finished off with complimentary Melon and Raki. A very enjoyable experience with friendly staff (we were given 2nds on the Raki , always a winner in our book) thankyou :-)

We were on holiday with the girls in the town of Agios Nikolaos and on the advice of the locals we went to this tavern and were satisfied! The food, the atmosphere, the service... the sea that made noise nearby during dinner is not even worth talking about. The tavern is located in the small village of Plaka, which was also very nice to walk around. Parking nearby, which is a constant problem for Crete as a whole. I won't write about the menu, since we mostly took what we caught that morning. The wine to the fish took local, also delicious, in general we all really liked it! Thanks for a lovely evening!

what appeared on the plate bore little resemblance to what the mixed grill said on the menu. i accept maybe i ordered the wrong grill by mistake. in any case the meat was very fatty, the lamb chop cremated, dried up chicken wing i think and soggy chips. in over 30 years of visiting by far the poorest meal ive had in Plakias.

This restaurant is highly recommended. Real Greek coziness and very good food and very good wines!! The staff is in one word: Great!! Price Quality ratio top! Before you can pay you get a free ouzo, Raki or other liqueur with a nice piece of watermelon. Hospitality was invented here!!

Located with a nice view of the water. Went to Solvaki and Lasks which was Ok. Answers saved on the pomes fritters for Solvaki, oder could well have been green for decoration. Said bread and dip, which they come with obligatory (€1-3), but still they brought it, but they had to go with that again.
