We visited here for my 50th, we did book a head and mentioned this however nothing special was done ( I appreciate that they weren't obliged to do anything however it would have been a nice touch). We shared a Greek salad to start with , which was very nice I had the "catch of the day" which consisted of 4 small fish and some bean salad, it was ok , my wife had Carbonara which she really enjoyed, we then had cheesecake for dessert. All in all not too bad, I should have probably chosen something else as the fish was a little bit of a let down ( my bad choice) . The walk down back to Plakias was really enjoyable though afterwards, I wouldn't recommend walking up as it's quite steep in places unless your up for a challenge ;-).

The food in this restaurant is delicious and the environment is relaxed and classy. I ate the lobster ravioli with prawn and it was to die for! The desserts were also incredible - we had the chocolate soufflé and the praline tart. Portions are very generous too! We’ll definitely be coming back

So after reading and hearing a lot of good things about this place I’ve had high expectations but it was crushed by basic food . It’s good value for money but the 3 main dishes we had all had potatoes as a side which is rather basic and boring in my opinion. I would love to see and taste some greens or anything non starchy. One of mains was very salty too other chewy. It’s a beautiful atmosphere and very nice staff but the food needs a lot of Improvements.

Nice location, beautiful environment but pedestrian food presented as if it was something special. (Frozen) Cheese pies were not cooked properly, the pork steak was overcooked, fries were frozen, not fresh (not usual in Crete). But more importantly, the service lied. They tried to convince us that the fish was locally freshly cought instead of farmed. On that day it was impossible to be fresh cought due to very strong winds. Also the type of fish served is usually farmed, which is ok as long as they did not lie to us . Finally, the waiter who opened the wine in front of us took it away to be replaced as the cork broke. However the new bottle arrived already opened. All in all, there are too many places offering better fresh food and honest service in the area. I would not return.

this restaurant is supposedly a regional must-go, however, if you are less than 3 people, you will not be able to experience it... First time in my life that I am refused a booking upon the only reason that my party is too small. They tell you that you can always come at the last moment and try, if you are less than 3, but when you arrive, and see tables that are free, they look wrongly at you, "poor you, only 2..." and tell you to move away. The looks of the place is not all that good anyways, and the thought that they believe more in profit than in sharing their food with people who are eager to do so made the will to be there pass... and happily so, because they have neighbours who are very welcoming and extremely good - indeed, in that village we had one of our best Cretan dinners ever.

Amazing views and really great starters but after that it all went a bit down hill,. The waitresses were good but the waiter was surly and almost threw our dishes on the table. They seemed to be a bit understaffed and service was slow. Main courses were very average and the chocolate souffles were all liquid with the thinnest cooked crust. Tables on either side of us were chain smoking.. really? It is 2022! To top it all off someone had brought their dog with them which yapped at regular points during the meal. Won't be going back.

Excellent location with a nice atmosphere and a panoramic sea view. The shop is modern with nice aesthetics. His dishes are beautifully prepared and quite tasty, without particularly traditional Cretan elements as shown. I would suggest avoiding the spinach cheese pie salad, because firstly it is too small in quantity and secondly it has little spinach, minimal cheese and a sheet of baked crust. Maybe it's the most wasted 11 euros you can give. Also, the bread that is served at the table, without even being asked, is charged 2/person and is stale. The behavior of the staff is particularly disappointing. We had sat at the front tables in the afternoon, a particularly hot August day. After the serving and our food was finished the staff decided to raise the awning that creates shade without any warning, as a result you cannot stand from the heat and are exposed to the sun. When they saw us looking in wonder at what had happened, they told us that nothing could be done because they had to protect the awning from the wind. They later offered to transport us. Nevertheless, the movement shows an undisguised customer attitude, which says "eat-leave-next". Also, if you're used to the Cretan treat at the end and you're expecting it, then you're out of luck. We were served a panna cotta cream which was particularly sour and heavy in taste, as if it had yogurt in it.

I would like to make it clear from the outset that my review is based on the price-performance ratio of fresh fish. We spent 3 weeks in Crete in September, 1 of which was in Mirthios. We also visited the Vrisi tavern and, as we often did on this holiday, ordered fresh fish (here: sea bream). The fish served was not really grilled well to our taste and was also relatively small. So far, so good. The real shock came with the bill. We were charged 30 euros each for the 2 sea breams. As I said, we had eaten fresh fish several times, including in Mirthios in another tavern. The prices were always around 15-18 euros and the fish were consistently better grilled and also larger. In our opinion, the price level for fresh fish in Vrisi is completely out of line and in no way matches the service offered. We will avoid the tavern next time.

We went to book during the day and it was beautiful. But the evening the restaurant was very packed and hot. The bench pillows were dirty and full of ants. The service was very good at the beggining and food was good. However we took the shrimps tempura and the plate was covered with mayonese…. And fried shrimps put on all that mayonese… Uneatable…. Service then was slow, empty plates left on the table for too long… Not the level we were expecting.

We were looking forward to this evening because of several positive comments. The view from the beautiful terrace is exciting and the style and quality of architecture is extraordinary. So our expectations were quite high, especially with regard to their own claimed „creative greek cuisine“. In fact it was good food, but not really creative. Bruschetta was nice but typical. Pasta with lobster was ok, but not special. We got really disappointed on the service! We were served without any smile. They forgot our Aperitif and didn‘t excuse themselves. In the following the staff did not serve from our bottle of wine on a long table. We had to serve ourselves. We tried to get attention but the staff kept up cleaning empty tables. Worst thing was the reaction in the end when we tried to explain our inconvenience about the service and unfriendlyness. Comment: „This is your opinion, not mine!“ Ok, this guy can stay with it. But our opinion is, that arrogance never leads to improvement! Sorry, never again!

Vrisi is a restaurant with an amazing view and very elegantly decorated. The staff was polite, discrete and well-dressed. Everything we ordered was amazing and the portions huge! Only one dish was not as expected (pork steak which was too hard and dry), but everything else was truly excellent. We told them about the steak, and to our surprise, the chef came, apologized and offered to prepare something else instead. We were already full,so we said this was not necessary. He apologized once more and said they would not charge us for the specific dish. For a Greek restaurant in a small village in Greece, this is something you don't expect to hear! They do know how to treat a customer and turn a negative incident into a positive experience! Well done! We will definitely visit again and of course recommend them to friends!

Since my wife was sick I went alone to this restaurant alone for dinner. Even though there were about 3-5 empty tables I was refused any service; I was willing to take a quick dinner since I was hungry. I never experienced such arrogant treatment in Crete!

The food here is excellent. We visited twice during our week in Plakias. Everything from the bread, olive oil, mushroom risotto, pork in mustard and honey to the complimentary panacotta- one night with fruit and caramel sauce the other with dark chocolate- and carafe of raiki was just delicious. The wine was floral, the view was stunning and the decor understated modern cool. We found the service to be just right, attentive and chatty but not over the top. We can not fault Vrisi and look forward to visiting again.

The setting here is undeniably lovely and the decor creates a pleasant upscale atmosphere. Unfortunately the food does not live up to the setting. Our starters were traditional and well done (a tasty tzatziki and bean puree). However the mains were disappointing. Poor quality meat - the lamb “chops” were a collection of gristly and bland pieces of meat. I ordered a T-Bone steak and expected beef, but it was veal (which I like but a bit odd not to flag that on the menu). It was very overdone (though they did offer to change it) and was covered in what appeared to be an out of the bottle salad dressing with tasteless and watery mash potato. Desserts appear to be shop bought rather than freshly made and were not enjoyable. The staff were nice and helpful and clearly the restaurant is doing good business. But I would give this one a miss.

Vrisi is a great place to spend time. The food was tasteful and the atmosphere was positive. The staff was positive and helpful and there were light relaxing music playing in the background. Another positive fact was the view of Plakias that is unique. I hope we visit the place soon again !! We recommend the place to everyone !
