We went and took advantage of the early afternoon cocktail happy hour, which was not only good value, but the choice was large and varied. The restaurant itself is Caribbean inspired with the appropriate music (rather loud and tinny). For food I opted for the...ribs which were delicious and tried both the mussels and chicken (also excellent). Highly recommended..!More

First time at this well known local bar/eatery. Quiet on Thursday for lunch, service was great and food was also good, just beers and burgers this time. Caribbean decor and menu theme. Would definitely go again when in the area.

Wonderful eatery with good food and service with a very different atmosphere. A touch of the Caribbean in Africa. A simple menu at reasonable prices and very reasonable drink prices. Very relaxed atmosphere, lots of young folk and obviously a favorite meeting place for a...good time.More

Great vibe. Great service and drinks. Come early for a 2x1 cocktail specials, or a pina colada inside a pineapple. It feels like Bahamas in Johannesburg.

Great atmosphere, great variety. Very friendly staff! Love the Caribbean decor! Best part, you can reminisce about the great Trinidadian batsmen that is Brian Lara during your visit!

On Friday evening, we booked a table at Brian Lara Rum Eatery in Linden, as it had been recommended. As we walked in, we were greeted by the Manager, Lilian, who showed us to our table. The atmosphere and vibe were great! Lilian was professional...and friendly, and we immediately felt at home. Our drinks arrived, including a couple of cocktails. The cocktails were well prices, and generous servings... most importantly, they were delicious! Daniel, our waiter (and I apologise if I got his name wrong), came over to take our food order. As I could decide what to have, I asked him to recommend something. Normally, when I ask this, the responses received is usually "Everything is good". Daniel asked my preferences in food, and I explained that I am not very good with spice. Based on this, he recommended 3 different dishes... one being the Mussels, and the way he described them made my father change his mind from the fish to the mussels. I said to him that he should order for me, and I would eat whatever he brought. I got the Rump with seasoned veggies, & it was incredible. The rump was served medium rare, with jerk spice and a pepper sauce, & it melted in your mouth. The veggies were served to perfection, not over cooked, still with some crunch & a delicious flavour. And to top it all off, the prices were so reasonable! We were all blown away by this incredible experience! Thank you to Lilian and her team because you made our evening a memorable one. We will most certainly be back!More

We always pop in to Brian Lara Rum Eatery on trips to Linden. It's got a fabulous vibe and great cocktails. Overall, the food is delicious but the menu is limited and variable. I can recommend the ribs, squid and most sides but, like one...of the other reviewers said, the doubles is a bit questionable. It's not the place for an intimate conversation as the music is moderately loud but perfect for tapping your foot along to and enjoying the atmosphere.More

Went there in April on a Friday night for a friends birthday. The ribs were amazing , my wife did not enjoy chicken due to the cumin. The service was good. The vibe felt very young. An enjoyable evening

We held a 30th birthday party there. To say the service was exceptional would be an understatement. The staff were excellent. Lillian went out of her way to accommodate every single request we had even though some seemed impossible. Montana and co were excellent waitrons...and everything was perfect. Could not be more grateful for everything everyone did. Looking forward to returning.More

Had a late lunch with my mate here today. Great decor and vibes, but you need to call your 'doubles' something else, because whatever that was doesn't even come close. As a West Indian, I was taken aback by your rendition of one of our...classic dishes. I suppose if you haven't had actual doubles before, it would be a 'tasty' meal, but don't expect the real deal.More

A spontaneous romantic outing found us in 4th Ave, LINDEN, and we were thrilled to find Cocktails (loved the Cachaca, which is portuguese fare)with delightful complimentary starter of fried pizza dough with pineapple salsa... Could have had that as a meal on its own, it...was so tasty! Main meals of creamy mussels and calamari with sweetcorn bread were really good - truly value for money. The atmosphere created by singing and happy waiters/barmen and a beautiful Maitre D' (in a caribbean dress) completed the experience! Loved it!More
