With a craving for some Thai food, I turned to Google and one of the results returned was Fusionista. We went not sure what to expect. What we got was a friendly welcome, a massive selection of eastern dishes in a large menu. The service was very efficient and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I had Thai spring rolls followed by Thai red curry and it was all delicious. I will definitely be returning to try some of the other options.

My mother treated us to a spa day inside the Koi Mist room which we followed up with dinner in the restaurant. The treatments were gold and the food, atmosphere and service were nothing short of something to rave about. If you happen to only visit the restaurant, you can still have a spa treat in the form of a neck massage while you dine. Our compliments to the chef because I don't believe that we'll soon have another culinary experience like we did at Fusionista - we are already planning our next dinner at the restaurant and will be taking everyone we know back.
If you like asian food I highly recommend trying the "Taste bud tour through the East" set menu.
Whatever you'll pay will be worth it but they are very affordable.

Just returned from Vietnam and Singapore and having their Food still in Memory i went
to Fusionista once again for it's SEA-Food. I am a Lover of this kind of Food, well
prepared, very large Selection, very large Range of Deserts. You will not be disappointed. Good taste of Spices and Herbs they use in their dishes. Should be more
visited. Very romantic Seating. Try it and you will be amazed. Free and ample Parking in Rabie Street

The starters were to die for ,melted in your mouth . But the main course for my friend which was the duck , was drier than a country facing drought .No flavour whatsoever even with the sauces we had . It was chewy and dry .I was spoiling my friend for her birthday and the food went from a 100-0 real quick. The waiter was a gentleman and attended to us so well . I will come again but the duck needs more attention. The spa was nice but felt rushed even for a 60 minute massage, I would not say it was bad but I would not say it was great either.

Whilst we are disappointed with only a 3 star rating we are happy that you enjoyed the starters, describing them as being too "die for", for which we think you. Also thank you for your positive comments regarding the service as well as for saying in in a private message to Fusionista that you loved the prawns. We regret that the duck was not to your friend’s satisfaction. We are surprised by this since duck is one of our specialities and customer favourites, with many of our customers coming to us only for our various duck dishes. We buy fresh duck of the highest quality every week. We have been attempting to ascertain, without success, which duck dish your friend had, noting that your visit was in December when there were no complaints about duck and no duck dishes were sent back or returned substantially uneaten. We can only surmise that your friend had the crispy duck which does tend to be a bit dry, which is necessary in order to make it crispy but this dryness is counterbalanced by the delicious sauce served with the crispy duck. Nevertheless we accept your criticism of the duck and we will be doing quality control and tasting sessions to ensure that this does not happen again. We do however bring it to your attention that if you had let us know at the time we would have redone the dish without a problem, or alternatively allowed your friends to choose another dish.
Thank you for commenting that the spa was nice. Regarding your comment that you felt rushed the spa manager reports that there were no complaints in December, whether about clients feeling rushed, treatments being cut short or any other complaints for that matter. So we are not sure exactly why you felt rushed. We do note that you posted a photo of our flagship treatment room, the Koi Mist Room. We do know that our customers love the room so much as it is so tranquil and relaxing that they tend to linger there after the treatments, which can be a problem if we have customers waiting to use the room for the next treatments. We therefore suggest that next time you book a 90 minute massage. We are very happy with your comment that you will come again to Fusionista, and on your next visit we sincerely hope that you will be satisfied with all the dishes ordered for your table and that you do not have any issues at the spa

13th March 2024 we made a booking for 7 people at fusionista we arrive around 6:45 we ordered within 15min of being seated, To my surprise with all the good reviews this time it was not the case!!! We wher the only 2 families at this place. We ordered sushi which was delicious then we order the prawn wok which took over 45min to get to our table and when it got there it was cold the prawns where sticking to the shell so we send it back. Next round same thing and same waiting time! I am not sure what was happening behind scenes of the kitchen but it was terrible and we actually went for a birthday and it didn't end up being anything good very disappointing!!!

Always excellent food and service.
Hubby loves the crispy duck in oyster sauce with their fabulous chilli in soy sauce as an extra topping. I have few favourites, one being their honey prawns with rice.... delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

My visit at Fusionista was a disappointment. Sorry to say that. The visit at the spa was amazing. Also the restaurant looks really stylish and comfy. Well I travelled all over Asia several times. And I can assure you that the food is a disaster. No love, no Asian spices, no Asian vegetables. I had green curry and fried rice with vegetables. Both was a joke and not Asian at all (see the picture). I wish it was differently. Because we are really looking for a Thai place we can go to frequently. Sorry. I will not come back. The service was amazing though. The idea wish the bell at the table too. I told the manager about my experience. He was listening, but he didn’t seem to be interested... whatever the response of the management is: don’t talk! Change the quality of your food!!!

We deeply regret that you did not enjoy your meal. We respect the fact that everyone has the right to their opinions but your comments are over the top, emotive and deeply hurtful and harmful to us, especially in an environment where restaurants such as ours are struggling to survive due to the various Covid restrictions. A dish might not be to your liking but that does not make it fair comment to call it a "disaster" and a "joke". You refer to a photo, apparently in support of this, but all the photo shows is a very generous serving of vegetable rice, chock-full of vegetables, and a dish of green curry next to it. The fact is that the vast majority of people enjoy our food and have given us high ratings, which means that they totally disagree with your "assurance" apropos the quality of our food. With regards to the particular dish that you criticise so harshly we have, over a number of years, received only positive feedback and not one complaint. Indeed there is a review on Google regarding this exact dish, posted approximately 3 weeks prior to your review, which you can verify yourself, in which the following is stated:
"Best vegan options, such variety for once! Definitely going to become a monthly favourite. The Green Thai Curry is divine, even better than the ones we had in Thailand."
Your comment about the manager not being interested is not correct. When you informed him of your complaint he stated that I (the owner) was in the restaurant and that I would be happy to discuss any issues that you had. You did not take the manager on this offer. The manager immediately reported your complaint to me and it was taken up straightaway with the head chef with a view to assessing the validity of your complaint and whether any improvements can be made. Over the past few days we have tested the dish with our regular customers who were all very happy with it.
In closing your comments that there are no Asian spices or Asian vegetables are incorrect. We use the best quality Asian spices and vegetables with traditional, authentic Thai recipes, with your dish having been prepared by a Thai chef who takes great pride in his work and who works exceptionally hard to ensure that customers are treated to delicious dishes

My wife and I have been coming here on our date nights and absolutely love the green curry. No extra salt or spice is needed. The waiters are polite and on point. The cocktails excellent. Amazing atmosphere is so inviting and tranquil. I would 100% recommend.

Everything was really great at this restaurant. Easy parking, clean, attractive decor, excellent staff (Happy our waiter today, is terrific), food was excellent with an extensive menu, illustrated menu with sooo many options - really all kinds of Asian foods. You can also get a good steak here. Well worth a visit.

This place is a true gem in JoBurg. This is a much classier spa than many of them in town, and the prices reasonable. Love the Japanese fusion type experience. Just wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommend the couples package!!

Oh my word!! What a wonderful experience at this gorgeous venue
The food was divine, service friendly and fast
The highlight though was the spa
Absolutely incredible, tranquil and inspiring; the massages were amazing, the best we’ve enjoyed in a very long time

Great eastern ambiance! Their menu offers such a great variety! And the food was delicious. For a non alcholic drink I can recommend the Thai strawberry mango chilly smoothie!

We do have some quite evenings which is puzzling in view of the amazing, mainly five-star, reviews that we receive and at the same time disheartening in view of the fact that we have put our hearts and souls into making a visit to Fusionista an extra special occasion.
