Portions huge! Safe location to watch the baboons in the evening! I chose grilled fish, beautifully cooked but enough for 2 hungry people! Place is basic which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars

The food, as many a restaurants in the Simons Town area, was just average (deep gry, grilled and chips... ). The only positive is that it may be ok value for what you pay. To top it off the waitress laughed in my face when...i left a 10 rand tip for a below 200 rand lunch and drink !! I know it was not 10% but who says you must leave a tip.. the service was average.. not exceptional.. all in all .. they rely on the tourists.. and not the locals to support them..More

Had a takeaway, the mushy peas were under cooked and very salty. I asked for a grilled fish and received it fried

Great fish and chips, probably the best in the area. Draught beer a little on the pricey side, otherwise a very pleasant experience.

Amazing place with history - The original fish Market... A very local place to enjoy fresh fish in Simons Town. The portions were very nice. Professional service.

Fish and chips. It is ok if you don’t eat too much but be aware you pay for everything. I think we might have been even charged for the take away container

The best, freshest fish we have eaten in a long time. Humble facilities but amazing food. Great evening had by all. Highly recommended!

Quick Stop after a long day of diving, went in 30 minutes before loadshedding. Was met with a warm welcome and a pleasant smile. Not a load of people, but food was very quick to come out and met all the standards. Had fried calamari and...chips and was just what you need for something fresh and amazing. Highly recommends 👌More

The service was very bad. They firstly took a dirty cloth which they picked up from the floor to clean our tables. We waited almost 2 hours for food which the first batch came and then after they have eaten than the others received their...order. The seafood sauce was just tamato sauce and mayo mixed. The portions for the price is ridiculous. The russian roll was just a russian and a buttered roll. The food was cold and oily. we had to call the manager to revised our order cause the order was not complete. I had to give my food to my 4 year old cause they ddnt place the kiddies hake and chips order and told me they can't make it cause they close. The staff after we explained was so rude and unfriendly. The milkshake was spilled all over the waiters hand. My son was still eating then they took the plate, my husband went to asked what now then they wanted to give back the plate, mind you after placing other plates on top of it. Its the worst experience ever. I would never ever recommend this place for anyone not even my dog. 30 April 2023More

They used to have little, crispy tentacles. Today it was these huge tentacles, undercooked and chewy. The tartare sauce cost R18. Really?? Disappointed. Good memories gone

We have never been disappointed with the food and have been here often. The seafood is fresh and well prepared and reasonably priced .Be prepared to wait for a table as it can be very busy .

We were seated last night at a dirty table around 6:10pm. We were eventually served two simple plates of fish and chips well over an hour later. In that time we watched two tables of guests who had been waiting earlier than us, walk out...in disgust without having eaten. This was bad enough but worse was that a group of 18 people entered the restaurant about 15 minutes into our wait. We watched them order and commented it was lucky we got our order in before them. 20 minutes after that their food began streaming out of the kitchen while we still waited. I complained and was told that the group had phoned their order in. We watched the whole group finish their meal while we STILL waited for ours! Yesterday was a public holiday and most of the other restaurants were closed so we had little other options. Bertha's opposite was open but they seemed to be packed with similar large groups It was clear that if you are an independent traveller you will be sacrificed in order to accommodate the big paying groups. Sad, because the fish and chips were excellent. This is clearly a management issue as the staff were excellent, doing their best to make up for the short fall in staffing levels. Independant travelers, unless you have hours to spare and are not starving hungry, beware and instead, try one of the smaller eateries behind the harbour front.More

Salty Sea Dog is a classic Fish & Chips tent, right on the water's edge and far from a classy dining restaurant so curb your enthusiasm. Due to the fresh, delicious and fairly priced Fish & Chips the plance has build-up something of a cult...following, also stretching to international shores due to countless recommendations in travel guides. Therefore numerous guests come with sky high expectations, hoping for something utterly unrealisitic for this price. Therefore do some research in advance and know, where you're heading, in this case, you won't be disappointed.More

It’s not a fancy restaurant, but if you have a craving for seafood it’s the place to go to. My wife and I had lunch here. I ordered the hake and chips (fries) and she had the calamari strips (250g) on rice. The portions were...huge and the food was well prepared.More

The best fish and chips I have had in a very long time! We had hake and chips and it was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
