It is a long term since I enjoyed battered fish and chips, as so often the batter is greasy. The Salty Sea Dog has got it right, lots of taste and no grease, real chips and good portions.

Having spent over 20 hours travelling & finding we were not up for a restaurant sitting, we came upon this outlet by chance. As obvious newbies, when I ordered snoek, the lady asked if I had ever had it, I advised no & she informed...More

Tasty, nothing too extraordinarily, Fish was a bit dry, but the mushy peas were definitely (surprising) a highlight of the meal! Nice place for a cheap and cheerful lunch in Simonstown.

Salty Sea dog has very modest dining space but none the less the fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, a lovely treat!

Stopped here for lunch during our Cape Convoy tour. Enjoyed a casual lunch of kingklip fish n chips. Service was prompt and attentive. Took a walk on the pier outside after lunch.

It's self-service...which reality kind of dawns on you after 10 minutes or so with no sign of a waitron. Bar service is also of the self-service variety. The beer fridge looks like it shouldn't produce a cold beer and it doesn't. The wine was pure...More

The service was quick and friendly. The food was freshly cooked and of excellent quality. My son had hake and chips and I had the calamari. Good food and good value. A recommend from me.

This place is always a winner if you're looking for simple fish and chips in Simonstown. Great portions and a simple menu. This is no fine dining establishment, but it's simplicity is what gives it the charm it has. Can get extremely busy on weekends...More
