We live close to this fairly new restaurant, and discovered that the owners used to run Parc in Glenwood - which won lots of awards. 36o3 opened in the old Gillitts Post Office, and their food is superb. The menu is quite small, but yesterday lunch I had a fantastic Steak Tartare, my wife had Confit Chicken Thigh, which she thought was excellent. I was so impressed I went back for breakfast this morning and had Eggs Onassis - 2 poached eggs on toast with smoked salmon trout and Hollandaise - beautiful. We have booked for dinner next week, and expect to eat there regularly

I have only visited twice and had breakfast on bot occasions, so one may say I have experienced a limited amount of their offering? The first time with a friend I had the “ half English breakfast” which comes with a capuchin one egg anyway, bacon, tomato and home made bread toasted, I chose rye and it was perfect. The second visit, yesterday, I ordered the mushrooms on toast, again rye which is baked in-house and again I was taken with the exquisite flavours in the mushroom mix and also a poached egg soft and as I ordered.
The real positive is the don’t make the bread/toast the center but rather the carrier of the mushrooms so your carb intake is limited and the focus is mushrooms and a glorious runny egg.
Top class dining in our village, do well people we need you to be here for many years to come.

Parc Restaurant, in Glenwood Durban, had been a big family favourite for breakfast and lunch ever since it had opened. So when Brett and Lara closed Parc to open 3603 in Gillitts we had to visit. Most definitely worth the trip from Durban, Johannesburg and London to have dinner at 3603.
Dinner was not previously an option at Parc so it was very much a new experience. The best of the Parc experience was still there, top quality food, excellent preparation and great service but now with the option of being packaged in a dinner option, which presented full three courses with innovative options.
Quite frankly I rate this on a par with any dining option in South Africa, definitely highly recommended for breakfast, lunch and now dinner.

Being my forth visit for both lunch and dinner. I was expecting a treat as before. Unfortunately this was not to be.
I ordered the Pork Belly which I have had before. As a background this is not a cheap restaurant and offers fine dinning so portion sizes are very small. My pork belly arrived with two small squares of belly. The first was absolutely delicious. As I cut into the second I found it to be 75% fat with a 2cm thick layer of inedible fat covering the entire square. I picked my way around the fat, not wanting to spoil the evening for the rest , however my friend who was with us noticed and insisted on calling over the waiter.
The waiter hussled off apologetically to tell the chef. But the owner/chef never made an appearance but sent another waiter to do his bidding. He asked what he could do to make it right. So far so good, I suggested replacing the piece so that I could at least get something to eat. He returned shortly after saying that they couldn't replace it as the same could occur with the replacement piece, and that there was nothing they could do but apologize.
Later after desert when I called for the bill I checked to see whether they had charged me in full. They had and what's more they had charged for an extra bottle of sparkling water. (Which they later removed).
Really spoiled the evening. The least they could have done was
1. The owner/ chef could have come over and explained / apologized.
2. They could have offered me something else to eat.
3. If the kitchen was closed they could have offered a discount on the meal.
Funny how easily you can chase your customers away.

Thank you for your feedback. Please accept our apologies for your less than satisfactory experience at 3603.
Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication between the Host and the kitchen on the evening in question with regards to your unsatisfactory meal. The Owner/Chef was only made aware of the issue by one of your friends after the fact.
At 3603. we strive to offer the best experience to all our customers and take customer feedback very seriously.
We do hope that you will dine with us again in the near future and find it a treat as you have previously. In future, if you do have any concerns about your meal or any aspect of the service that you feel have not been resolved to your satisfaction, please do request to speak to one of the owners so that we are able to rectify any problems at the time?
Kindest regards
Team 3603.

Were looking forward visiting this new restaurant based on the photos and the menus but found what could only be described as over promised and under delivered. Food presentation is excellent but taste was average. The starter of mushroom risotto balls were the best part if the meal. The tomato purée for my main unfortunately overpowered any other flavour in the dish and hubby also said his pork belly was average. For dessert we had blueberry cheesecake deconstructed. Again presentation awesome. Unfortunately the white chocolate cremeaux tasted like raw dough.
Other people seemed to be enjoying their food and the ambience were lively. We may just hv had a bad night and as i said average food when we expected more.

When Durban’s mid-winter temperature threatened to hit the mid 30’s on Sunday we decided to head up to the cooler Highway area for a pre-birthday lunch at 3603 restaurant in Gillitts.
For those of you who don’t know why it’s called 3603 it is housed in the old Gillitts post office and that was the postal code.
First impressions can be deceiving as was the case at 3603. Despite good reviews the restaurant was far from full when we arrived. Then there was the menus which were a bit tatty to say the least. We chose a dry rose’ wine to cope with both our meal choices. Sadly the waitress just went ahead and poured the wine without giving us the option of tasting, was this going to be the way things would go?
When I looked at the menu options I wasn’t blown away. So when I asked if I could have one dish from the ‘Prix Fixe Menu’ and another from the standard menu my request was turned down. Maybe I should have asked the manager and not relied on our waitress?
I then decided on two options from the Prix Fixe menu, for my appetiser I went for the Local charcuterie with sourdough bread, mustard & preserves – when I enquired as to what I could expect I was told, pork! Eish I was now feeling a bit shaky about our restaurant choice, never the less we were into our second glass of rose’ so we ventured forth. For my entrée I selected the Fillet of Beef on sautéed spinach with Pommes Anna, roast baby carrots, chicken liver parfait and red wine jus.
My wife chose two ‘starters’, firstly an open sandwich of Roast Aubergine oven blackened aubergine, herbed hummus, feta, preserved lemon, pomegranate arals & rocket on toasted artisan bread with extra virgin olive oil. Then onto the Salmon & Citrus salad etc, etc.
Well suddenly our spirits spiralled into total gastronomic euphoria!
Now I could see why the other reviewers raved about 3603. This was fine dining at its best! We both raved, we tasted each other’s choices and we salivated until we had both wiped our plates clean. All the combinations were perfect, the plating was done to perfection and our taste buds tingled! WOW!
We shared a superb Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream to end off.
It was then that I established that the chef/owner was none other than Brett previously from Parc Café in Glenwood and Lynton Hall on the south coast. No wonder it was so damn good!
3603 is really a little fine dining gem hidden away in Gillitts – if you haven’t already been I can only suggest you do so ASAP! We will be back!

This little tucked away restaurant in Gilletts never fails to deliver on service and superior quality food. Today it was lunch for 2, and the lunch was superb taste, portion was just right and presentation elegant. On previous occasions I have had table for 16 with visitors from France and everyone raved about the food. Well done guys keep it up.

We have eaten here quite often, when it was Parc and now in the new premises.
We have always loved the food, especially the mushroom or salmon eggs benedict.
Today we decided to try something different and shared the vegan nachos and the french toast.
Without a doubt both were some of the most delicious meals we have had in a long time.
Outstanding combination of flavours.
We will be counting the days till we can come back for these two dishes!
Can't recommend a visit highly enough!!

The menu on a Sunday apparently is a (VERY) limited menu and not the standard menu due to the chef not being available. This should have been brought to our attention when we booked.
The meals served to us were underwhelming and was not presented anything like the pics posted on this site. The 10 year old child with us said it was the worst Eggs Benedict he’s eaten.
The staff were very eager to clear our table while one of the people at our table was still eating, this although there were other patrons in the restaurant and they had more than an hour to closing.
‘Only positive is there is no Corkage Charge’

First visit and WOW were truly impressed. Great venue, friendly, efficient staff and awesome food. I started with a Potato soup, deeeelicious, best I've ever had and my partner had the Ostrich starter which he also loved. Mains were Line fish for me, which was tasty and just fell apart. My partner had the Pork Belly and practically licked the plate, it was that good. We then shared the cheese platter to end off a wonderful evening........Cheese Platter very yummy 😋🧀🥖🍯. Definitely recommend and will be back 💖

Such a pity , hash brown with chorizo sounded so good .
Potatoe was undercooked - still hard , the Cumin was so strong I could not taste anything else. Surely the chef never tasted the sauce .
Crying shame !

Parc cafe in glenwood was a gastronomic thrill. So i was delighted to find, on a brief visit to Durban, that it has reopened as 3603 in Gillits. Fantastic menu bringing together all manner of amazing tastes. Roast eggplant with a swizzle of orange peel and pomegranate and much more. I wish I'd been able to have the set price dinner - I'll stay in town longer next time

Another wonderful meal. The line fish was sublime. Thanks for the two little treats that were so enjoyed. Service was great. It was good to see the restaurant full…. But please could something be done about the sound/ acoustics. It is difficult to hear each other talk, one ends up talking louder… so sound just escalates. This distracts from dining experience unfortunately

Thank you for your review! We appreciate the feedback. In terms of acoustics. Yes, we are painfully aware of this and will see thereto when funding allows for it. As you know, restaurants have faced so many setbacks the past 2 years, but rest assured that the matter is on our to-do list.
