A Very Pleasant Surprise!

I didn't really know what to expect from this restaurant, but it was defiantly worth the visit! We were allowed to sit anywhere, they have both indoor and outdoor seating and our waitress, Gloria, came over straight away with menus. The coffee was freshly brewed and Gloria then brought over condiments and cutlery which was wrapped for COVID. My partner ordered the mince omelette and I ordered Shakshuka with bacon. Both dishes were huge and very tasty. Gloria was very attentive and super friendly, as were the rest of the staff here. The bill was very reasonable, 200 rand, for the service, quality and portions that we got. We will defiantly be coming back here again soon!

A very good coffee shop with a great menu. Prices are excellent and the service really good and friendly. The restaurant has a liquor licence and I enjoyed a good bottle of red wine at a reasonable price. You can also buy coffee beans and very tasty rusks there.

Not a great experience!

On my second visit, we sat in the wine room to eat our lunch. My crumbed mushrooms with tartare sauce and sweet potato chips, were awful, tasteless and soggy. Luckily my friend enjoyed the small pizza! The guy in the wine room was so full of himself, and I heard him giving incorrect information to a customer, and this spoilt my visit to such an extent, I will not go back!

Ive been coming to stars for years and have never experienced such poor service up until recently. The food is great. The customer service my partner and I have received the previous two times we have been there, I feel is unacceptable. Previous time we where there our waiter completely forgot to bring our dessert that came with the combo meal for two. We had to get up and go to her after waiting for quite some time for the dessert. The last time we were there, everything was fine up until we wanted to pay. We asked our waiter for the bill, after she brought it to us she disappeared (we were the only people left in the restaurant). We waited for her to return with a card machine but she never did, after waiting for 15 minutes we decided to go to the front desk and ask to pay. The lady in front called our waiter to tell her we wanted to pay, after another 5 minutes she finally came out from the back and let us pay. I can understand to wait so long if the restaurant is busy but if we are the only customers I feel it is completely ridiculous. Im not a monster so I shall not expose names on social media, but please work on your customer service. If this information is required by an employer I can be messaged privately.

Very Bad Pizzas

Ordered 2 pizzas, both very bad. The olives too salty, the toppings were just taken out of a jar and placed on the pizza i.e. jalapeno and pepperdews, all you could taste was the brine water. The bases were pap and mushy. It was like pancake pizzas, with cold brine/salty items thrown on from different jars, with oily cheap mozzarella/white cheddar. NO garlic, chillies or parmesan cheese to accompany the pizzas. Fist visit, but Never again. Waiting Staff were very nice.

Terrible!!

Don't even know where to start... For starters I ordered the felafel platter, which they got wrong on every level. The felafels were flavorless and dry, didn't even resemble felafels! The pita tasted stale, and the hummus and tahina were very very average the salads were tiny and had no dressing. Then for mains I ordered the vegan burgers which I barely managed to eat despite being famished. Unless you have lost your taste thanks to covid do not order any of the above!! At least the staff and view was lovely

New menu is disappointing

Stars have stopped serving their excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. It now has a very small selection of food which border on snacks. Will not go there for a meal again. Please revert to your original menus which brought lots of diners to the restaurant.

Very good food and well priced

Enjoyed some really delicious lemon meringue pie and pizza. Even bought some fresh bread and all their sumac spice. This place is very good. The reason for the 4 rating is our waitress was not 100% on the ball and forgot to bring us condiments like honey for our tea, salt and pepper and an extra plate that we asked for. She was friendly and welcoming but wasn't really fully attentive to us. It could have just been an off day so it wasn't a train smash, but we will certainly be back to try some other meals and cakes. Definitely give this place a try.

Would not visit again.

I visited this establishment for breakfast whilst my wife was undergoing a brief medical procedure. The food was fine, however imagine my surprise at being informed that I am not permitted to utilise my Laptop to catch up on tasks whilst at the establishment. I was advised that the owner does not permit patrons to utilise laptops whilst on the premises. So sitting outside on the deck with no other patrons anywhere nearby one is not permitted to work on ones own private device. How ridiculous.

What a pathetic lot

I came here because they advertise waffle and ice cream. After I waited 30 minutes I was told that they burned my waffle. After another long wait I got my waffle ... at least they tried to tell me that flat bread thing was a waffle. The only choice of ice cream was vanilla which had more ice than cream. I have now been here twice ... the first time and the last time. What a pathetic lot

Hidden Gem!

A friend recommended Stars to me, and I was surprised that I had never heard of it before! I checked out their website before I went, and was really (pleasantly) surprised at their wine prices! However when I arrived at the restaurant, there was no wine list, and even in the wine room, there were no prices. The waitress couldn't even tell us what wines by the glass they had, so I gave up in the end, and didn't have any wine. Most disappointing, and the owner wasn't there for me to ask about a wine list, and there was no management around to ask. My falafel platter was very nice, as was the brinjal burger. Lovely views from the outside deck

Used to be a fabulous get together for our year old new group of friends. The only fabulous thing left is the view on the deck. Waiting 20 minutes for a cuppa in a virtually empty restaurant. Somebody needs to stop this agonising experience and close it down. No matter how good the food or coffee, the service is atrocious. Waiter can't even remember I ordered and paid a coffee, brought me a red cappuccino instead. One other couple on the deck called out to say it's theirs. They have been in and out after everything they ordered. Said they should ask their tip back. What a disappointment.

It's a pitty to see this once good and enjoyable restaurant to deteriorate to an extent that is so bad that was unimaginable before! No breakfast, and instead of a menu a piece of paper with a choice of some pizzas and self service!!! Where is the friendly personal now?

What has happened to the old Stars Restaurant? The menu has changed and does not cater for variety as in the past. We also noticed that there were far fewer customers than in the past. Service is also terribly slow. Not interested in this place any more, such a pity.

Friendly staff, interesting variety and range of dishes and drinks. Very affordable, delicious, generous portions. The broad ocean and mountain views are adorable. The have a good symbiotic relationship with the coffee and wine merchants next door, excellent deals to be had. Definitely worth a visit, you will be pleasantly surprised... And probably return!
