The hippest spot in Mossel Bay. Whether you are a local or just passing through, there’s no hotter spot to be in Mossel Bay than at The Legendary Blue Oyster Bar. It’s the perfect spot to lounge in the sun on a hot summer’s day. The deck has a view over Santos Beach, where you can chill out while enjoying a refreshing cocktail and maybe some alfresco sushi. Still turning up the heat, even in the cooler winter months. The menu also offers mouth-watering pizzas, to go with your ice cold beer. And a wide selection of whiskey, which is sure to please any connoisseur. Upmarket, but still affordable, the bar offers ladies night and two for one cocktail specials. Fantastic in every aspect

We had the pleasure to have Cocktails at the Blue Oyster bar during our stay at the Marriot Protea hotel on four occasions. The Blue Oyster bar boasted an inside seating area as well as a lovely deck outside with beautiful views of the ocean, Santos beach and the harbour. The ambience is relaxing, intimate and sophisticated. Our waiters, Litha and Simba were very friendly and professional. The cocktails and mocktails were among the best we ever had. We had a Focaccia, a Burger, Salmon sashimi, 4x4 Sushi, lite Hake, Red dragon Sushi, grilled Chicken salad and a Lemon cheesecake. Each dish was a feast for the eye and sent our taste buds into a passionate Tango. (The food was ordered at the bar from The Gannet Café and Restaurant across the Blue Oyster bar). We thoroughly enjoyed the stunning sunsets from the deck.

Make this a stop if your in Mossel Bay!

Me and my partner come here a lot because we love the service, atmosphere and food. We have never been let down yet! The cocktails are amazing and the bar tenders are always happy and smiley. The view of the ocean is beautiful and even mid week the bar can get fairly busy. Would definealty recommend this as a place to come if you are in Mossel bay, whether you just come for pre dinner drinks or for a bite to eat as well this is one place you wont want to miss!

Great Sushi

We used Trip Advisor to find a place for lunch on our trip along the Garden Route. Not much choce in Mossel Bay, but we found the Blue Oyster (tucked away behind the Cafe Gannet and it was excellent. We had the Suchi which was fresh and delicious. Lovely to be able to look out over the bay too.

what a gem. beautiful setting. lounge groove music. delicious cocktails . and the food.... the best. best tempura prawns crispy. soft and full of flavour calamari . huge succulent oysters. absolutely worth a try.

The views are really beautiful. This bar is at the back of the Gannet restaurant and Protea Hotel. We sat at one of the outdoor tables. A menu was brought to the table but nobody came to take our order. We ended up moving to the Gannet.

Dear reginafug Thank you so much for your visit. We apologize for the service confusion. The bar is a much more casual and relaxed setting than the restaurant. As part of this, orders for food and drinks get placed with the staff at the bar counter. Although this is printed on the menu I will address this with the team, so that they also explain this to guests when delivering the menus. The bar certainly does have an extraordinary view and I hope that you will come back and enjoy it once more. Hopefully on a hot summers day with an ice cold G&T. Best regards, Janine

had a meal booked next door and went for a couple of drinks before hand - put meal back 1 hr and had a few more as really enjoying the setting and atmosphere drinks were great as well as service - went back for nightcap after meal as well!

Cocktail and snack

I went for the “Blue Oyster Bar” and it’s cocktails at about 6pm. I had three very nice Margaritas and a bar snack. I was able to sit outside and enjoy these. Although they don’t do table service outside (this is a problem when your on your own) the staff went out of their way to ensure I had somewhere to sit and enjoy my drinks and snack.

A nice break from the beach

If you're looking for a bar to hydrate and get away from the sandy beaches, then the Blue Oyster Bar is a good spot. As part of the Protea Hotel, it overlooks the ocean, but is a good over-18 hangout for those needing a reprieve from the holiday crowds.

I HAD MY WEDDING AFTER PARTY HERE!

On the 28th of October 2017 I had my wedding after party here and guests are still asking me to have another wedding, because it was just so much FUN!!! I would just love to do it all over again! The garter, bouquet, guests helped themselves to outfits. We cut the cake! We had cocktails! EVERYBODY JUST LOVED IT!!! There is no better place to have a party in the whole of South Africa! You have the view, you have the vibe and you have the best staff at your service. Thank you again team Blue Oyster for making our wedding memorable!
