If your looking for a fine dining experience this place is not for you but if your looking for a relaxed atmosphere with great ocean and beach views then defiantly make a stop here!
You have to go up to the bar to get your own drinks and order what you would like to eat but they have runners going around clearing the tables and bringing the food as you are dining. We did have to wait a little while for the food, but when we arrived the place filled up very quickly and even the owner of the restaurant jumped in to help get all the food out!
We didn't mind, we weren't in a rush and we had great company at our table. When the food arrived it was amazing, really worth the wait!
We all really enjoyed our meals and the value for money was great! We will definitely be back again!

This place just takes me back to the West Coast. The vibe is something different with a sand floor and that view of the sea and the harbour on the other side. This place is also like a self service you order your food from the bar and also drinks. The food was very good the menu is not huge and its easy to decide what to eat and what not. Everything comes with a roosterkoek that is the signature dish of this restaurant it seems. Its just a very chill atmosphere i will definitely go back to this place its a must try in Mosselbaai. The food might take long so grab a bottel of wine and just relax.

When we drove into Mosselbay yesterday afternoon, we both said how awesome would it be to have a braai and we never thought we would experience a braai in Mosselbay. We decided to take a detour on our way back to the Hotel and ended up on the harbor side and discovered a hole new scene in Mosselbay and to our surprise saw Kaai 4 Braai.... the braai we so wanted.
We walked in and were met by the owner and beach sand, so not what we expected. The casual chat and introduction by the the owner about the ordering and the menu next to the big open fire with the blue sea as the backdrop to the scene was so surreal.
The food arrived at our table in enamel plates and bowls, simple and yet so effective, but the perfect vesel for the tasteful, cooked with love and passion from the heart meal.
What a pleasant surprise. Excellent.

So disappointed. Mussel-pot so below standard! Can not believe they serve it. Not sure if they took shortcuts on the recipe or got a new chef, but 4 of us had the mussels and were very disappointed. My husband loved his lamb curry though, but, we will never go back there again. Tables and everything very dirty. I haven’t seen them even wiping between customers. Cutting corners on costs.

Good view, out door with beach sand floor. Food was BBQ or braai in front of the patrons.
Food tasted okay. Probably would have tasted better , if the proprietor was abusing a member of his staff , for my entire visit.
Food cooked with love tastes wonderful, so I thought that the bread was doughy because all the lambasting of the staff , flowed into the food.

It’s just something we wanted to experience though being tourists. The braai is based on the seafront so we ordered a bbqed fish dish and a chicken based one. They came with a flatbread and was delicious and flavoursome. Accompanied by a beer it was a nod to the braai and an enjoyable experience.

Absolutely love this place! Food is always good and the owner always tells some nice jokes or stories. Love the view. Great place to enjoy the beautiful view over Mosselbay.

We have visited Kaai 4 on numerous occasions and always found it to be one of the nicer spots in Mosselbay.
We were very disappointed this time. The mussel pot was very stodgy and very lemon tasting. We waited around 20 minutes for a coffee and after it arrived , my wife realized that the milk was sour. The taste of the ribs on the meat platter was also not very pleasant

A large group of us came here as some of the group had been here before and really enjoyed it. First impressions were very good. It has a Caribbean feel to it with sand for flooring, bright colourful furniture and a picturesque seaside location. The braai was going strong and the smells were good. We arrived early afternoon and it was about a third full but the atmosphere was good. I don’t know if it was just the size of the group but the service was hit and miss as was the food. I couldn’t complain about my food, I had braaied hake with roosterkoek which was very good, my wife also enjoyed her curried mince with roosterkoek. Others in the group were not so impressed including one who had recommended the restaurant. All in all a pleasant enough experience but we certainly ate better in SA.

We ordered by phone and collected in person the food was amazing in taste and the quantity was good to. The quality of food was great in taste and the packaging was nice to. The ambience on the sea front looked beatutiful

As a beautifully situated restaurant, the expectation was high. The ‘feet in the sand’ experience was great, but one of the members in the group suffers from Parkinsons as struggles to walk. If the restaurant then has no menus going to the tables….the old guy had to get up and walk to the menu board at the entrance….the distance becoming a problem.
Then an elderly lady needed the loo….that was in a tow away toilet at the other side of the parking lot….with a step so high she could not get in.
I was expecting a great fish menu….only one of the 22 items on the menu was a fish dish?????

A must for authentic cuisine. I found this place as I was searching for an authentic ’Braai’ it looked great but it had mixed reviews, so I was apprehensive. I Decided to just go with my original plan and I am so glad I did! It was a fabulous chilled setting with sand underfoot, wine in tin cups, great tunes played and utterly delicious food. The only thing that might put people off is the time it took to come but as it says on entry ‘If you want fast food go to Mcdonalds!’

Lovely food in a cosy ambience. Don't expect anything posh. Wine is poured out in tin cups and the food is also served on tin plates. However, the taste was great. All in all a great experience.

Based on the good feedback here,we had dinner at the Kaai4 yesterday. Food was a
big dissappointment. The meat was precooked in the afternoon, didnt touch the grill during our stay. The dishes were wrapped in aluminium foil and heated in the microwave. Consequently the meat was cooked to death and very dry.
The only food we saw on the grill during our meal was some bread.
Staff was friendly, place is nice, but........

This restaurant is the perfect place for a outing during the day, seeing as it is cold at night.
The staff is very friendly and the food was swift. Not at all what we expected, but 100% satisfied.
The views and surroundings of Kaai4 is a bonus with the 180° ocean view.
Definitely a MUST 🙌
