When we visited Kingfisher, we received a more than warm welcome from very friendly staff. From the get go, we felt treated and at home. On our last night there, we decided to have some sushi (they have sushi specials available). We ordered a huge amount of sushi and thought we would not be able to finish it. But, the food was so fantastic, that we scoffes it down in no time. The waitresses that helped us, were friendly and professional. The dessert also was fantastic. I firmly recommend Kingfisher for anyone looking for great food, paired with a great view and service. Big thumbs up!

We phoned for a booking and after no response decided to take a chance.
A 20 minute wait out side was rewarded by a table and a congenial Norwegian waiter Rowen.
Enthusiastic and ready to please, we placed our order ........ wine, sparkling water, sushi starters x2, yellow tail and a tuna poke bowl.
In no rush we were happy to watch a full restaurant well decorated, functional, but basic. The waiters seemed well trained and sanitised table as people came and went.
Rowen arrived with a big smile and proceeded to unload both starters and main coarse on our table at the same time??
The sushi was fresh but served in chunks( no finesse)
The tuna poke bowl was delicious but my yellowtail was dry and unappetising.
Generally a very average meal, good service.
A very busy restaurant which I am sure are capable of far better. I would try it again to be fair & allow for maybe an exceptionally busy night,

I went with my mom to kingfisher for my Birthday. There is a variety of foods, the service was so friendly and I felt so comfortable. The food was so amazing. I will definitely go there again! I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone. 100 out of 5 stars. Thankyou so much Kingfisher!! I went home with a smile and never ending convo on how great this place is!

This is a very busy place, mostly frequented by locals. However, service was very, very slow, even taking into consideration that it was busy when we arrived. We waited 10 minutes to get a drink and almost 30 minutes to place our order, and then almost an hour to receive our meals (by this time the main dinner rush was over). Then it took forever to pay the bill and have them call us a cab. We were almost the last group in the restaurant. Food was mediocre at best. Not worth the time. Reasonably priced, and the server was nice, just rushed off her feet at the beginning of the evening.

Me and my colleague went for dinner at the Kingfisher in Mosselbay on the evening of 10 August.
She enquired about the Kabeljou, with specific reference to it being fresh or frozen.
The waiter went to ask the chef and confirmed it to be fresh.
My colleague ordered the Kabeljou, and immediately saw, upon it being served, that it was actually frozen and quite rubbery.
We queried it with the waiter and then the action started!
Between the waiter, the chef and the manager it turned out that the fish was actually frozen.
When the bill arrived, they had the audacity to charge us for her dish!!
In their favor… they removed it immediately from the bill, upon our request.
Furthermore, my hake was delicious as was the salad!
Kingfisher, please be honest with your customers, because this experience will stop me from visiting you again.

We visited Kingfisher restaurant in Mossel Bay on the 20th of August 2020 for takeaway meal of their Seafood curry.
The standard of the meal has dropped & the overall service was horrible.
The manager on duty named Jabu made jokes that were not humorous at all & instead quite offensive not to mention forgetting basic takeaway meal cutlery which he made it seem like a favour when finally giving over what they "had" in the kitchen.
This was not only a waste of R 240 but also incredibly disappointing that my husband & I have lost any interest to eat at any other local restaurants in the area.
We appreciate a decent dining experience whether it is at home or at a restaurant therefore I can safely advise against visiting this establishment.

This was our annual visit to the restaurant as it was a must on our list.
Never again and we also though to have a special visit with a group coming down next week 12 people.
This Sun 19 Dec we decided to go.
1. We waited long before someone decided to help us.
2.The drinks took 20 min. for 4 drinks.
3. We waited over 30 min for the food. the food arrive in sessions. The eishbein was over cook close to been burned, no kingklip so alternative hake. 2. The hake was bad the battering was either fried in to hot oil or old oil. The calamari was served with head and tails, expecting rings the chips was cold and fish arrived 10 min after 1 st 2 dishes was served. 3.The prawns was just bad no taste and tasted tasteless. No bucket to put the residue of prawns had to ask for sanitiser cloths.4. The Sushi was ok.
4. We would have had pouting but decided to get out of there never to be seen again.
5. I also ordered water still waiting for that.
6. Not once did anyone ask are we ok and the people behind us had the same experience with there fish.
Someone made the comment maybe the Sheff did not survived covid.
Yes the owner was there more concerning about people wearing there mask at the door. (Think it was the owner).
Think twice before you spend your money at the restaurant there are alternatives.

Really disappointing food, and not particularly cheap either.
Given the location and that Mossel Bay is a fishing town, we thought it would be all about the Seafood. So we had seafood chowder to start, then calamari and chips and seafood curry.
The seafood chowder was lukewarm and was a bit like going fishing - you put your spoon into the water (soup), moved it around a bit, thought you had some fish - but turns out it was just a rock (more celery).
The mains were very poor. Lots of bones in the fish in the fish curry, calamari was over cooked, and the chips were covered in a sweet, almost sugar like coating (but maybe this is just a very, very, very localised thing I’ve never heard of).
All in all, a very disappointing night food wise! Service was fine and location is good (right on the sea with the sound of the waves etc.).

Situated on the sea, this restaurant has three internal levels almost like a sports stadium bench, so that everyone has a sea view. Ample parking available. Excellent vibe, with lots of locals. On weekends booking is essential. Friendly reception, good service. Food selection is excellent and meat dishes are available although go for seafood. Food well presented and tasty. The creamy sauces just adding the additional flavor. Pokeh bowl was excellent. Creamy mussels to die for.

Not a restaurant for the masses, that's the one downstairs. Great menu (seafood platters a speciality). Great staff, decent wines (could do with extending the wine list) and obviously very popular so try to book in advance or you may have to wait.

The best thing I can truly say about our recent experience at Kingfisher is that they are situated on a prime position, overlooking the sea. There was a good vibe on the night we dined there but unfortunately their food disappointed!
The fish ordered was very dry and the steaks weren’t cooked as requested. One was very underdone and was sent back three times and, even then, wasn’t good.
Our young waitress was attentive and tried her best to salvage the evening.
We declined desserts and coffee.
Will we go back to give them another try, not sure!

Surprisingly busy on a midweek evening, and buzzy/loud indoors depending on your point of view. We sat outside on the balcony, which was quieter and had amazing views of the surf and ships. Our server was efficient, friendly and intelligent, and gave good advice when asked: timing of service was spot on throughout. The three dishes we ordered were all excellent and generous in size. Prices very fair. The restaurant organises a free shuttle bus to hotels and guest houses, a great idea!

The Mediterranean Hake was served in a foil boat and the very thin hake filet was baked to the foil and covered by a layer of oil with two tomato slices and two olive halves. Very dissatisfied with my meal. Drinks were overpriced . The salad was served without dressing and there was none provided on the table.

Thank you for your feedback, your Mediterranean hake should have had more tomato and olives and we will give immediate attention to this. The oil you mentioned is the garlic butter as listed on the menu and you should also have had salad dressing on your table.

Our meal was excellent! I had calamari 3 ways and my wife had kingklip. Both were fantastic. To top it off I had the Malva pudding which is basically a South African version of a sticky toffee pudding, without the dates. I didn’t want to have to share it. The service from Charl was impeccable (a credit to your restaurant Kingfisher!) The restaurant was full, so I’d like to think others think the same. We’ll done Kingfisher I’ll be back for at least some more Malva!

We were passing through Mossel Bay and chose Kingfisher for dinner. It was excellent in every respect. We had grilled calamari to start which was perfectly cooked. I had kingklip and my wife had grilled prawns both of which were superb. Wine in South Africa is unbelievably cheap, and the service was prompt and friendly. Parking was plentiful and it was right on the Ocean with good views. Definitely recommended
