Coming from Cape Town, where we are surrounded by restauranteers who think they are truly wonderful, Marc's food is up there or even better than many of them. The bone marrows were the best I ever had, and the short rib was delicious. My partner's Pissadelierie was light and full of flavour, and her baked aubergine was fantastic. Along with great and attentive service washed down with a bottle of Ken Forrestor rose ( at a price point well below Cape town !)this place is a winner !

Bloody amazing. Marc the chef owns this place and will probably rock out to meet you at the tables. The menu is thoughtful and local. I had a Warthog Pot (terrine) to start and a Warthog lasagne as a main because, well, where else are you going to get that! Veggie wife was happy with spinach dumplings and the options available to her. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and its ingredients.
Marc’s employ local staff who were happy to split the bill with a group of 9 which was incredibly useful and refreshing.

During our time in Maun we stayed one evening at Marc's Eatery for dinner. We had reserved a table for safety in advance via the homepage and were greeted friendly when we arrived. During the evening, the friendly owner Marc also came to our table to have a chat.
The menu offered a good selection, we opted for fish & chips or a burger with game meat. Both tasted very delicious and the portion size was well filling. Since the price was also very fair, we can recommend the restaurant without restriction.

What a place to chill and to eat well! After hoping for years that there would be a restaurant of this kind in Maun finally it has arrived. Set in a tranquil green courtyard off the main road heading north out of Maun (on the left at the end of the airport fencing…and, no, there isn’t a problem with aircraft noise), it is an oasis of fine food and tasty dishes.
Marc and his staff show that welcome approach to making customers happy that promises that an already excellent dining experience will continue to evolve positively. There is a friendly manner and interest in the opinion of diners plus a creative and innovative approach to the menu offering. Marc is someone who is really interested in food. Just take a look at the menu on their website…loads of choice for starters (try the duck terrine with chilly jelly and pickles or the smoked eland carpaccio) and mains (I had Kalahari truffles with tagliatelle and also with risotto and I haven’t tasted a better low carb aubergine and beef lasagna). There is a good selection of salads (I thought both the Heavenly Bowl and the Moroccan Bowl were amazing), side dishes ( the raw sweet potato with pesto and the carrot with mint were full of flavour) and desserts (I enjoyed the lemongrass ice cream and the white chocolate mousse). There is a good selection of drinks too which includes some varied juices and smoothies, and I liked the fact that they stock the local Okavango Brewery craft beers (another positive recent addition to the food and drinks scene in Maun). To finish the meal there is good coffee; the espresso was strong and rich in taste.
Don’t forget to have a look at the deli products in the fridge. I have taken some spicy Moroccan lamb sausages for the next trip.
Even if you are only in Maun for a day find your way here...you will not be disappointed. You won’t do it justice going only once, but it’s something to come back for and back for and then some more. I did and it made my week in Maun something special.
Check when it is open on their website as they are not open every evening. That’s fine as lunch is available each day except Sundays. And, whenever you go, you’ll get a friendly welcome from the staff who provide a very professional, attentive service.

Marc’s Eatery, that is what is says. De Chefs in the kitchen have been taught well. It is pure, a lust for your senses.
High quality products well prepared European style cuisine with a flavour of Afrika. Very hospittable, good wines.
A visit to Maun without eating here would be incompleet.

A quick Google of best restaurants brought up Marc's for our final dinner destination. The specials board screamed a selection of authentic, local meats. As vegetarians this didn't speak to us. Turning to the menu we found a selection of options that on paper served our needs. However, after ordering kimchi and receiving a ginger pickled beetroot, or sweet potato salad and receiving a bowl of grated raw white potato, we were unsure. The risotto was made with something other than alborio rice (maize maybe?) And we suspected a hint of chicken stock in the vegetarian mushroom alfredo. Overall I wouldn't rate the food. However the staff were incredibly friendly, noting Kay and Diti(manager) specifically. So friendly they brought us to a local bar for a drink after where we got to experience authentic Maun nightlife.

First of all, our Kimchi is made with red and white cabbage, carrots, beetroot and Ginger it is fermented with miso for 14 days in a ceramic vat. The Risotto is made with Arborio rice, Kalahari truffles , vegetable stock and white wine, finished off with Parmesan. We have a selection of side salads and the one you talk about is a raw grated sweet potato salad with a indigenous Basil pesto. As I say these are side salads clearly stated so on the menu. The Pasta Alfredo has no stock in it, the sauce is made with white wine, onion, garlic and cream. The board has got daily specials which changes daily, on that day we did not feature a vegetarian or vegan dish as we have a great selection of those in our menu.
Sorry for your disappointing experience regarding the food.

An absolute oasis of a restaurant, with fantastic food, a beautiful eating area, very friendly staff. the owner was so helpful and interesting, and the food did not disappoint at all. I would eat here every day if I could. The sausages are particularly good.

Went for dinner here during a short stopover before travelling onto Cape Town - nicely decorated restaurant, food was excellent and good choice of wine. Service excellent. A little way out of the centre of town so probably worth using cab (lots around even if vehicles have slightly seen better days)

We went to this restaurant during a recent stay in Maun. The setting was lovely with outside tables, the food was delicious and Marc the owner was very friendly. My husband was not able to join us for dinner so the staff very kindly packed him up a take away for me to take back to him. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant if you are staying in Maun.

I went for a surprise dinner to Marc's Eatery and I can honestly say that I had the most fantastic time!
The service was exceptional by all standards and the food was delicious. The most wonderful thing, was that each of the staff members serving our large table individually came up to me and personally wished me happy birthday throughout the night. It sure was one to remember and I can't wait to go back! I highly recommend this fine establishment to those who live in Maun and also to those who are simply passing through.

I visit Maun about 6 times a year for work purposes and have been frequenting Mark’s Eatery for lunch for a number of years. Today I found out they are now doing dinners so I thought why not. Well I just had a delicious grass fed fillet steak and finished off with a chilly chocolate moose. Wow!!!! What a meal. It was fabulous and the service was timed perfectly as usual. Great place to eat in Maun on the edge of the delta.

I went to Marc's Eatery last month and had the most wonderful experience. It was my first time in Botswana and the first place I went too. Not only was the food the best (vegetarian) food I had during my trip, but they also made sure to make me feel very much at home. The restaurant has a beautiful courtyard, making it very cosy too. It was hard choosing what to get as the menu was overflowing with great choices. I can definitely recommend the sweet potato sushi and veggie burger... We even went back the next day to try out something new. One thing is for sure; I'll be back here soon!

My Second time at Marc's eatery ...... Went to dinner with a collegue after a long day's work. Easily the best dinner option in Maun. I think I ate a Walnut Ragout pasta which was incredible along with a glass of wine (a generous pour) !! Salad was very good also.
I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in town.

We popped in for supper on a friday night. We shared 2 starters amongst three and then had a main course. One of the starters was the vegan sushi which was one of the nicest dishes I had ever tasted. It was such a surprise. The meal was excellent and very reasonably priced. Don't miss it but I think it is only open one night a week. I may be wrong.

Hi, thank you so much for your great review. I am happy you liked our vegan sushi. I developed it during my period of raw vegan diet where I tried to learn more about special diets needs. This sushi is very popular right across the dietary pallet. Due to the ongoing restrictions on curfew and alcohol sales we are only open on Friday nights but it is slowly easing up and we will be open from next week onwards on Wednesday night as well.

I would strongly encourage anyone visiting Maun to go to Marc’s Eatery. The quality of the food is outstanding and the staff were amazing.
