My first visit here since 2002. Good menu. Good selection of beers, cider and wine. Butcombe Original bitter is recommended. Friendly, helpful staff. The food was excellent, and the pub was busy. Unfortunately, the heating had packed up, so luckily it wasn't freezing.

Lunched here with a group of seven, plenty of choice on the main menu and the specials board for all tastes. Gluten free easily dealt with. Service was good, log fires welcoming and everyone enjoyed their meal. Thank you to all the staff.

Called in after a long walk up Hambledon Hill on New Year's Day. Fortunately someone had just cancelled so got a table. BBQ pork belly was best I’d ever tasted and husband liked his tuna steak & ratatouille. All of us had Apple & Nut...More

This is actually in the village of Shroton six miles from Blandford. It does good food, has a largish car park, and can cater for large parties. It does lack a pub atmosphere and is more of a restaurant. The liver and bacon is very...More

A lovely pub for our first night here in Dorset! Friendly and welcoming staff with a warm atmosphere made better by the log burner on this cold night. The beef brisket was wonderful, as were the specials, the fish pie and pork stroganoff. The decent...More

Been going here for over a year now, so about time I wrote a review. This is our local pub, myself and my girlfriend visit regularly sometimes for dinner and often for drinks. We always enjoy our food and the staff are lovely!

Description
We tend to stick to the classics and not mess with them too much. Instead focus on quality of ingredients and attention to detail in the kitchen. Pies, Sunday roast, fish and chips and a good curry are part of our culture and what people expect to see on the menu at a pub. There is a small space on the menu and specials board for the more adventurous diners where dishes like pig's heads crubeens and seafood bouride etc. Are found to be very popular. We also focus a lot of care on our children's menus making sure only fresh ingredients are used and that they too change with the seasons.
