Mariposa - Latin Inspired Grill is designed for the ultimate customer experience. The views from the patios and dining rooms could be the finest world wide. If that wasn't enough - customers will enjoy browsing the restaurant and the grounds enjoying large scale art or star gazing in the dark Sedona night. The cuisine is Latin Inspired, primarily from Chef Dahl's interactions with chef's in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Chef Lisa Dahl and her team focus on premium ingredients and many of the herbs are grown in the herb gardens in the restaurant courtyard. All meats and seafoods come from the very best sources - such as Allen Brothers and Beelers for the meats. For years Lisa has insisted on

We visited this restaurant last night. The setting is spectacular and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. Unfortunately the "gatekeeper" hostess (blonde with arm tats) was VERY OFF-PUTTING to the point of being rude. She was nasty to the people in front of us...and condescending to us to the point where everyone in line was commenting. We didn't let it ruin our evening, but no one should be treated that way no matter the "class" of restaurant. Once inside the wait service was just so-so. We had a waiter in training and it was much better when the fully trained server was taking care of us. Other servers we observed were outstanding so I think we were just unlucky. Overall the food was very good. Not excellent, but very good. They seem to want to drown everything in chimichurri for some reason. And when the bill is presented at the end you are forced to complete the entire transaction electronically while your server stands there waiting. Again, very off putting. All in all I think this place is primarily about the location and gets by with so-so service and pretty good food as a result. Probably will not return the next time we were in Sedona.More

Start with the best location and view in gorgeous Sedona, place a beautifully designed restaurant on site, craft a menu of stunning latin dishes, add a fantastic wine list and you have a 5 star restaurant. We shared everything. Started with the mussels in a...chorizo and corn broth. Very good. Shared a caesar with almonds (works very well). Of course we had the empanadas which were some of the best I've ever enjoyed. We also shared a lobster tail which was cooked perfectly. Finished with the key lime pie which was a perfect ending to a great meal. Service was spotty but not enough to take away a star.More

We waited until the day we arrived to make dinner reservations. That was a mistake. At first we were told there was no availability. We kept trying online, and finally a 9:30pm reservation opened up. It was worth the wait. We were seated immediately upon...arrival. We started with the Yuca Fries, which were to die for. Our entree consisted of lobster tail, grilled asparagus, and lemon-zested mashed potatoes. Not only was the food delicious, the ambiance was classy and peaceful, and the service was excellent.More

We chose Mariposa to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The cocktails, entrees, desserts, scenery, and service was all wonderful. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you!

Sometimes a restaurant rests on it's laurels because of the amazing view. That is certainly not the case at Mariposa. Not only is the view fantastic, but the culinary team is spot on! We had an amazing dinner out during our quick, one-night trip, in...Sedona. This is a must-visit dining establishment while visiting!More

Mariposa provided one of the best all-around dining experiences we have ever had. We were seated promptly in the main dining room with a 180º view of the beautiful red rock mountains through tall glass windows/walls. The team of attentive, congenial servers ensured that all...our needs were met through out the meal. From the specialty drink list I chose a Juniperita which was a uniquely tasty gin twist on a traditional margarita. My husband had a traditional caesar salad and I had Lisa's Chopped Goddess salad, both of which were fresh, crisp, and delicious. My husband's Chilean Sea Bass and my filet mignon were both cooked perfectly with a melt in your mouth texture and unparalleled flavor. For dessert we ordered the Boca de Muerto (kiss of death), a deep chocolatey torte accompanied by salted caramel gelato - fabulous! The restaurant also provided a dish of ice cream with an edible chocolate Happy Anniversary message. Mariposa is expensive but worth every penny if you are looking for an unforgettable, exquisite dining experience!More

I've enjoyed this restaurant in the past years. I've been trying to get reservations for myself and visiting guests for a few months now that we are all vacinated, with no luck. My husband and I decided to stop by just for drinks, appetizer and...to enjoy the beautiful view last weekend. We were turned away at the parking lot. We were not permitted to pass to sit in the large patio. The person regulating told us we needed to do reservations 4 weeks in advance and that the summer is very booked already. I understand covid'19 protocol, but we felt our local community is being excluded in favor of tourists who have planned dates. So, be aware and realize there are numerous other magnificent restaurants that won't block you from entering.More

Had a nice dinner in this spacious and classy restaurant. The waiter was somewhat pretentious but not particularly surprising for an upscale Sedona eatery. The filet was perfect and highly recommended. The halibut unfortunately was completely overwhelmed by smokey beans in the sauce that ruined...the dish; the fish could have been catfish with the same culinary result. So while that was disappointing, the sides were quite good. I would return on future trips to explore the menu further...but would inquire about details and mention the halibut episode to the waiter in hope of not having “too much Latin infusion.” I do enjoy all types of cuisine including spicy and unusual flavors so my description of the halibut above was not about preferring bland food, it was just heavily over smoke-flavored that totally dominated the dish.More
