About
Postcard Cafe is named because of its 'picture perfect' views, but also because of the diverse heritage of the owners of Oude Nektar farm, and guests who visit from all corners of the globe. Situated in the peaceful Jonkershoek Valley, home of Stark-Condé Wines, it really is “as pretty as a postcard”. Café tables on the covered veranda look out over the charming lake and floating wine tasting room, surrounded by the dramatically beautiful Stellenbsoch mountains. A variety of savoury and sweet dishes are served - breakfast, lunch, cakes, and desserts. The menu is diverse and dishes draw inspiration from a number of different cuisines.

What a tranquil setting. The name is so apt that you would be excused for thinking that you were in a postcard.
The food is fantastically priced, the service is always friendly and with a smile and in winter they even supply you with a blanket to cover your knees.

We had breakfast at the beautiful Postcard Cafe- what an incredible experience. The attention to detail was astounding:freshly squeezed orange juice (you can taste the difference), beautifully prepared shaksouka and crusty sourdough bread served with home made raspberry preserve and marmalade. This amazing breakfast was served against the beautiful mountain backdrop woth very reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning!

This is an amazing location surrounded by the beauty of mountains and trees and the wine tasting in the middle of a pond/lake. Take time for a short stroll after eating in restaurant overlooking water... before heading to do the wine tasting in an most exceptional beautifull setting.

We visited the Postcard cafe today after hearing great things about it from friends. However, we had an unfortunately disappointing experience. The setting is wonderful so our hopes were high. However, we were sat down at the end of the restaurant not far from the door which led round to the toilets. When I went out to the toilets, there was a really bad smell of drains. This smell seemed to permeate into the restaurant so we asked to move and advised 2 staff members to close the door. No-one closed the door and it remained open the whole time we were there.
Also, when my husband’s croissant filled with ham and cheese, it was served with vegetables - carrots, broccoli and cauliflower! This was really strange for a breakfast option.
The cafe latte was also too strong. I couldn’t drink it. The muesli with strawberries and the scone were good!
So all in all, we were left feeling quite flat, especially as the staff has not listened to us about the smell.

We went for breakfast on Sunday morning and it was a real disappointment! The setting is amazing but the service sucks. I had reserved a table and when we arrived they allocated us another less impressive table too close to other diners. I asked for well done eggs and no green peppers in my shakshuka - the eggs were underdone and completely running with the dish full of green peppers. I sent my food back and went home hungry and irritated. The waiter was quick to blame the chef. My friend’s meal was comped as a result of our poor service but it did not make up for the poor service I experienced!

The location exceeded expectation and we had a table by the water. The drinks and food were quickly ordered but then the service vanished. The wait staff seemed to avoid our table and we were not asked for more wine/water and no offers of desert. When we finally attracted attention 20 minutes after having our plates cleared, we simply asked for the bill. The food was good but the poor service really diminished the experience and we will not return.

The setting was amazing, and even better, there were no screaming kids running around! We had a table on the edge of the lake, and sat there for hours.
But what about the food? The food was good, but small portions for the prices charged. I had the Smoked Trout Salad, which was very nice, but small. The full breakfast was also small. After we finished eating, we sat and chatted for a few more hours, but were not offered anything else to eat. The waitress asked if she had to bring us change when we paid, so in effect, she was asking for a tip!!! Needless to say she didn't get a tip!

Came to celebrate a birthday, our first time here and we were blown away....the scenic setting is unreal and the excellent service, delicious mains and naughty desserts just made this the perfect 'day out'. Followed by a gentle stroll around the dam and lawns to soak up those incredible vistas one more time before heading home. We will definitely be back, for the wine tasting once it's allowed again as well as bringing family/friends there for special times!

Lovely outdoor location with great service from staff but the food was a big disappointment. Very limiting menu, mainly salads. Ordered the chicken curry, chicken was tough, sauce tasted like it came out of a packet. Finished off with an iced coffee which I sent back as it tasted like dishwater. Must have run out of brewed coffee and thought it was a good idea to just add water to the dregs. Very let down.

Set in the beautiful Jonkershoek mountains ,Postcard Cafe is a short and scenic drive from Stellenbosch .I had an excellent tasty and healthy salad but there are also options for a heavier main meal . Views , friendly service, sweet treats and wonderful wines ...what more could one ask for ?
I will definitely be recommending and returning myself

Wonderful service, great food, excellent wine. Makes for a truly enjoyable family gathering. Started with a champagne toast, followed by their wine with lunch, ended with yummy desserts.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful the ambiance is t die for but the menu can be more inclusive to people who don't eat Pork.
You look around and you are surrounded by mountains and the is a Dam with beautiful fish , talk about breakfast and nature .
I was a bit disappointed at the menu for me as i don't eat Pork , i have an allergy . The waiter was informed but still served me pork bangers and when i asked him he said he thought i don't eat bacon .
Nonetheless the service could have been better , as the more i asked him to substitute my "pork" meat for something else he told me they don't do that , quiet disappointing i must say .

Lovely setting with good service.
Menu selection is limited with obvious favorite sellers.
Loved my Caesar salad. Dessert was nice.
Great spot for a light, casual lunch.

It’s obviously the most incredible view. The carrot cake was nice and the coffee cappuccino came in very small cup and saucer. One can’t even hold the handle but another waiter changed that for us. We did find it quite relaxing and lovely. We will definitely return.

The staff was friendly and the service was good. The food, however, was disappointing. The fish dish was very bland and not served with grilled vegetables( as suggested on the menu). The burger was so-so and the chips was not crispy. The berry sorbet was delicious, but the pistachio ice cream had a very off putting aftertaste. The location is picture-perfect and the ambience is great, but I definitely do not recommend the food
