Place is closed... It's now a gymnasium for athletic people. It's been closed since July 2017. It's very close to Paul Roos Gimnasium. This is a very old school and worth visiting.

We went to the Wild Peacock under the impression to have a nice breakfast/lunch and was disappointed to learn that the restaurant portion had closed. Evidently someone forgot to update the website. However, the cheeses were to die for and we bought a number of...various cheeses.More
They have very good products that you won't find in any store. There's a great selection to choose from - even fresh fish!
I ordered squid from the deli on Friday to collect on Saturday. They advised me that they closed at 10am on Saturday. Great. Driving from Franschhoek I was slowed down by a cycle race and then got lost...so 10am came and went...but Wild Peacock staff...didn't. They patiently and kindly gave me directions (3 times) and waited for me until well after their closing time. The squid was delicious and/but more importantly the "staff" were absolutely amazing. Thank you StellaMore
The quiche of the day, chicken and feta in my case, served with fresh garden salad with balsamic reduction and a pot of tea for under R80 was excellent. A delectable morsel between shopping sprees. Tiny with limited seating but customer care, well done!
Popped in for a late lunch. It's like a deli with tables and chairs. It's not fine dining but it did the job. We had the soup and chicken sandwich. Both tasty. My only issue is the coffee. We've found this almost everywhere we've been...so it is not unique to the Wild Peacock. Too much milk, served at too high a temperature for your cafe lattes and cappuccinos.More
popped into this venue for a quick lunch, had a cappuccino and salad. Over priced and the cappuccino was a bit milky. There are better places to have lunch.
I am very disappointed with the Wild Peacock. Had possibly the worst cheesecake and cappuccino I have ever had. The coffee was very watery and the cheesecake completely tasteless. For what I paid, it was not worth it - very over priced.
We recently went to Stellenbosch for Sunday breakfast. We had a few possible restaurants on our list, but chose Wild Peacock restaurant because it was in a quiet setting, away from the main tourist spots. Tasty, freshly prepared food. Friendly staff and Fantastic Americano. Good...family restaurant with seating in and outside. Interesting delicacies for sale in the shop. Good selection of unusual wines on their shelves.More
We thought it would be nice to have breakfast here for Valentines Day morning, but were greatly disappointed by the poor service and lack of items on the menu. There were only 4 other occupied tables, yet we had to hunt down a waitress just...to see a menu. We arrived and waited for 5 minutes at the entrance for someone to assist us, but no-one came. So we went and seated ourselves at an open (dirty) table outside. My boyfriend went inside to inform a waitress that we were seated outside. We then waited a further 5 minutes and eventually had to go and call a waitress, so that we could see a menu. Eventually a waitress came to our table and asked us if we would like to order. I asked what time they served lunch, to which she replied that they were not sure as they were uncertain to when the chef would be in. So I then asked her what muffins they had, to which she said that they did not have any muffins or croissants that morning. It was at this point, with so few options available on the menu and such a dispiriting atmosphere, that we decided to leave and rather find somewhere more hearty and welcoming. Surely, on a day like Valentine's Day, a restaurant should have been a little bit more prepared?More
Having really liked lunch at a table outside this deli on a previous visit to Stellenbosch we were looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. Wild Peacock is the retail outlet of a fine food and wine business. The menu is on a black...board and offers a variety of starters or small plates and then a number of mains. Calamari and fish cakes were both excellent and on request they put together a great cheese plate with salad. The cheese came with really crispy homemade biscuits. Good selection of wines by the glass and bottle. It's interesting to look at what the deli sells.More
Heard some good things about this little place but was a bit disappointed how average it was. If a sticky dirty plastic table cloth( the kind you don't want to put your elbows on) and burnt coffee does not put you off, then I suppose...it will be fine. The interior is outdated and dark and in desperate need of an update! especially with the above average competition in Stellenbosch Town. Sorry to sound unkind but it is true! Staff was friendly and prices reasonable. My lunch was OK-ish, but nothing to rave about. A fairly standard caramelized union and goats cheese on sourdough, at least all the ingredients were fresh. Won't be going back soon though.More
As usual we found the place on TripAdvisor and had a very good lunch. The place is very interesting, being primarily a shop, which serves its produce for lunch. The wine list is extensive. They had a good range of daily specials and we shared...the crispy squid for a starter. I had the steak wrap and Irene the salmon, both very good. I selected the La Bri Shiraz, which was excellent and we both had coffee. The total cost 420 ZAR, very good value. Recommended and we will eat here again.More
Apart from being the best food emporium around Stellenbosch with most delicacies you would need for a grand dinner party, this establishment also offers a selection of interesting meals. The breakfast today was excellent, the omelette was packed full with ham, feta and a hint...of chili and my perfectly cooked poached eggs on toast and bacon on the side was as good as can be. Unfortunately there were no fresh juices as one would hope in this type of establishment and the service was not the bestMore
We dined here and had an amazing diner. Food and wine were delicious. Service was excellent and friendly. We had a table inside the shop since the weather was a bit cold. Lovely experience.
