The restaurant was a regular stopover over the past two years and a place of great happiness, but it somehow lost some of its appeal on our last visit. We don't really know exactly why. The restaurant manager is still the same, friendly and personable as always. We miss the other familiar faces in the service department, Meghan has finished her studies and hasn't been there for a long time. The male waiter with whom I had so many informative conversations was also absent. The beef fillet was still tender and tasty. The chips served with it were thin, not homemade, just industrial quality. The glass of red wine 'Africaans' was R 20 more expensive this year and at R 90 too expensive for the quality. Overall, hardly any noticeable changes, but unlike in previous years, not all tables were occupied. People obviously have a keen sense of smell, especially since there are many alternatives. We feel the same way.

Absolutely wonderful food, location, views and good wines. This restaurant is definitely one of the top places to eat in the area and worth a visit but bookings are essential. Their seared tuna was cooked to perfection and size was generous. Every meal we ate was of exceptional quality so no matter what you order be sure that it will be delicious. Staff are well trained and offer top quality service.

We have already visited Guardian Peak three times this month, each time for dinner, and each time we have enjoyed the great service, the magnificent view (when making a reservation, please make sure that you want to sit by the window at the front - with an overwhelming view of the sunlit mountains) and of course the good wines and the great food. Lundu in particular has always served us very well! We would love to come back on Saturday.

When they say "we only serve wines from our greater portfolio" we didn't expect that to exclude beer, gin and tonic and even a Steelworks. Plus they list wines that say "sold out", narrowing the choice even further. The Salt and Pepper Squid was battered and deep fried which was not obvious from the menu. We asked for medium rare and medium steaks which had to be sent back as they were both very rare. A nice touch was they replaced the steaks, instead of just heating them again but the replacements were as rare as the first steaks. And to top it off, they ran out of ice cream so the dessert I had had my eye on all day was a non starter. My experience was 1 or 2 stars but the rest of the family enjoyed their food, the location and view is great and the decor is nice so giving it 3 stars.

This was a return visit and the views are so spectacular. We really enjoyed our lunch (chicken salad, chocolate brownie, generous portions) which was (not included price wise) in the middle of our day's wine tour. The wines were delicious too

Nestled on the slopes of the Helderberg mountain, is the Guardian Peak Winery. This is a must-visit farm in the area, not just because of the great wines, but also their restaurant and views. We visited for lunch and luckily we made a booking as they were packed. What I loved was that, although we were there for lunch, they allowed us to do a wine tasting at our table. This worked well as it was easier to then pair a wine with the food based on the advice from the waiter. Their wine range is vast with options in different price ranges, and their policy is that you pay per wine you taste, with the tasting fee being waivered on the purchase of wine which I always like. Their food is just as good as their wines - I went for their Pork Loin Chop. Firstly, it was massive! Secondly, it was super tasty! I can highly recommend it. Sometimes at the farms where they combine the restaurant with the wine tasting, the waiters aren't very knowledgeable about the wines, however this is not the case here. The waiter was super informative and friendly, and made it a very enjoyable experience. To top it off, they have an amazing view of the Helderberg mountains and valley below, and it's a great option for sunny or rainy days.

We had a family lunch at this restaurant & I've never been to this amasing venue. The views are spectacular, overlooking a beautiful valley, dotted with other wineries. As you walk into this venue you are greeted by a wall of smiles. All the staff were absolutely on point regarding presentation & knowledge of the menu. We placed our orders & were blown away by the presentation & size of the portions, well done. I had the Oxtail & must admit it is the best I've ever had, succulent & the delicious meat fell off the bone. If you're ever in the Stellenbosch winery valley area & looking for something special, this is it To the management and staff thank you for a great experience. Kind regards Ferdie Liebenberg

A very nice lunch with an overseas visitor. Good service, good wine and a great view of the mountains from the window side tables. Their venison was beautifully cooked and enjoyed by the ladies. However, my venison tartare was no so good. The meat seemed to be part cooked, not like any traditional tartare.

Lovely meal with friends What an amazing location with wonderful views over the mountains. The light colours are fabulous! Wine was excellent and very good value! We enjoyed bobotie spring rolls to start which were delicious Steaks were very good too. Why not 5 stars, the service was a bit erratic and the side dishes didn’t mirror what we had ordered A lovely evening and we would definitely go back

This is a great restaurant to visit as the views over the vineyards and mountain range alone are worth the visit. We had a decent meal here and the restaurant seems to be a favourite for tourists and locals alike. Don't expect a high flying culinary experience, but the food and service are both good.

We had another excellent meal at this restaurant. Service was outstanding, the wine affordable and perfectly chilled and served. We had Yellow fin tuna steaks (fish of the day) which were done to perfection, calamari and a Cape Malay curry starters (both excellent) and the risotto. The view is to die for! My favourate restaurant in Stellenbosch.

We spent a wonderful evening at the Guardians Peak Restaurant. The food was very good and we couldn't understand why this restaurant isn't more popular. For starters we had the soup of the day and the Bobotie spring roll, which were all very tasty. After that we had the game dish, which was excellent. If we come to Stellenbosch again, this restaurant will be on our list again.

The fun continues as my wife and I hit another winery, but this time it was just for dinner. Of course, we did wine tasting with our meal. I started out with a fabulous butternut and goat cheese risotto with sage and toasted pumpkin seeds. My wife ordered the Bobotie spring rolls with mint and coconut yogurt. Someone else got the salt and pepper squid. For my main, I went with the 300 gram Chalmar sirloin with chips and a salad. My wife ordered the fish of the day with sweet potatoes and broccoli topped with a lemon Hollandaise sauce. Another person ordered the chicken breast with roasted vegetables couscous in a Chimichurri sauce. Someone else ordered the roasted pork filet in a mustard and spring onion mash with carrots in a Romesco sauce. We had a large group, bit all meals were served in an orderly fashion. The service was great as was the wine. What an outstanding evening.

Five of us, two couples and a friend. Wednesday lunch , booked a table front window. Views were spectacular. Greeted by Tristan who introduced himself as our waiter. Probably one of the best waiters I've experienced. Was there when you needed and not when you didn't. His advice and constant supply of complimentary wine tasting was tops. We all had starters, very happy. Mains came , timing was just right. Good food, we all agreed. We were offered some of the wine we had tasted, to take home at 20% dicount. This is a top restaurant, not big so you probably need to book. Will certainly use again and again.

As every year we are visting the restaurant for lunch or dinner and we were never disappointed. The food ist excellent, the service very friendlich and is trying to make your stay as good as possible. Unfortunately the only disadvantage: if there are people next table, speaking very loud with no respect and complaining details to get something extra, even if they are stuffed up. we appologised for our fellow German countymen
